This Goodwill store I've dubbed the "TREASURE TROVE"! Not only do they get the best donations and used treasures, it's neat and clean and the employees are all really helpful and friendly!! And their prices are usually pretty reasonable unlike other thrift shops who seem to think they are antique stores or high end boutiques. Don't let nit picky ratings stop you from going!! I'm there all the time because it's the thrill of the hunt and like looking for buried treasure. I very rarely leave empty handed! It's just simply the best! God bless them!! read more

This store is a hit-and-miss type of thrift store. One thing that definitely turns me off is most of their prices are far too high. Whoever prices the donated items needs to be educated on prices! The store is very crowded and stuffy. Customer service is excellent! I visited Goodwill today and as I looked at the jeans I was shocked to see some $19.99 jeans! Too much! The staff must not of heard stores like Burlington and Ross. They can beat the prices at Goodwill and one is getting new items vs. used. The manager was very rude. She had "Enter Here" written on both sides of the sign where you drop off your donations causing other customers to be confused and could have potentially caused an accident. Another customer said that her signs needed to be labeled correctly. She was unprofessional and told customers myself included that we could cause an accident if we didn't go in the opposite way. It was the same drop-off spot I have parked at in the past and dealt with way nicer people, but I will no longer be taking my donations to this location. It was convenient for me to drive there and it is close to where I live, but this experience was terrible and I'd rather not have to deal with anyone's attitude while trying to do a good deed. read more

I was excited to go into this Goodwill, thinking it would be a great store based on how large and modern it looked from the outside and for being in a good location. It definitely was large, but the selection of women's clothes was disappointing. I also hate when stores throw shoes randomly on shelves so you have to wander all over and hope to find the right size. Also, no dressing rooms?? I don't know if this is a Bay Area thing but I'm used to thrift stores offering fitting rooms. How else am I supposed to shop for clothes? Very disappointing experience. Went in there today and found a luxury brand handbag. I doubted its authenticity, but decided to speak with the manager about whether or not I could return it if it came back as not authentic. the manager told me that she had spoken with the e-commerce person who had been in the store the previous Day, and was told that it was not authentic. The store is knowingly selling a counterfeit item. My understanding is that this is a violation of federal law. It's also unethical to sell counterfeit goods. do better, Goodwill. read more

It appears like this Goodwill store had a bit of an upgrade as the outside looks pretty modernized with fresh paint and newly placed logo. (I only say this because I've been to a couple more Goodwill stores earlier in the day before coming through and I'm able to compare their outside appearances.) All the same, the inside is just as nice, organized and very clean. Most of their products were visually accessible which is a great thing - the less I move things out of the way to see other things, the better (pandemic and all.) The bargain buy for the day is a couple of small crystal candle holders with new candles already in them. They weren't tagged, but I really liked them so I decided to ask the cashier (because if the price is right, they'll be bought.) She took a look at them and said, "$0.49/pair." SOLD! Way overpriced...As for their claim of providing experience/education. All bussinesses do that as a function of GBP (good bussiness practice) and have been doing so for many years. Also, I don't think they should be constantly panhadling at the register. If ANYONE wants to give them more that what they are obligated to, which goes for ALL stores, they will do so. Finally, post COVID-19, it appears that all stores have reduced senior discounts in CA state. So, don't be asking for more money when you're offering less and don't even think of stating that costs have gone up. Most people who shop in this type of store are ALL having hards times, as usual, so if you are truly there for the community, start acting like it. read more

I cleaned out my closest and went to the Goodwill on Clayton Ave in Concord CA. I am a retired business man and thought someone could use some business attire. When I got there I was told there was a thirty minute wait to make a donation? I never heard anything so absurd who would wait thirty minutes to give something away. If this is the best system you can come up with you need new management. Later that day I saw the goodwill in Walnut Creek. I still had the clothes in the trunk so I stopped by. I just dropped off about 6 bags of clothes, blankets, and school supplies at 2pm, which is when they stop accepting donations. Rather than being made to feel bad for keeping someone late or being asked to come back tomorrow, I was greeted by a gentleman saying, "Welcome to Goodwill. Thank you so much for your donation!" He continued to be very kind, gracious, and courteous. What an amazing experience! The whole transaction lasted less than 2 minutes, but the impression this gentleman made on me will last a very long time. read more

I decided to stop in yesterday to see what kind of kid clothing they had. EACH piece was $4.99! The very kind lady working there told me that the prices had just been raised. I put all but 1 item back! That's crazy expensive. I had picked up something like the pants in the attached photo (for a 12 month old).... I can find these online NEW for cheaper ($3.25 on Amazon!!) It is no longer an affordable option for families in need. We can find cheaper clothing items online or for sale at other stores. I had a baby onesie and showed her the sign that said $1.09- she said this isn't a t-shirt. I then had a size 4 t-shirt and she said see this print on here it makes it's not a t-shirt. Wow! I'm a frequent shopper here at this goodwill because of just how nice the staff is here. I always feel very welcome. But what chaps my hide is when I hear the short latin woman yelling at her coworkers. She must be the boss or something. Because talking down to your coworkers in front of customers is not cool. I am so disappointed for an organization such as goodwill who caters to help those in need to have someone so nasty work for them. I drop off new or semi used clothes, shoes, and other items as much as I can to give back to the community. The individual that accepts the clothes at this donation center is nasty, rude and very unfriendly. I have let it go a few times before but if your going to get volunteers or employees please make sure they are in line with the vision or at least a people person. This Goodwill is a step above several of the others in the area. The employees are helpful, and seem to be organizing the store pretty well. The household item section is plenty big, and they have a good selection of books. Over the times I've gone here, this is the Goodwill I've enjoyed the most and can find gems from time to time. The have decent furniture, and their non-fiction book section is nice. The clothing is a bit high priced for a thrift store, but that is across all the Goodwills. Like other reviewers, I haven't been able to donate items to Goodwill because their donations dept keep closing during their advertised hours of operation. A few days ago, I drove to Goodwill and got there around 1pm. A sign in front of the donation dept doors said they take donations between 11am and 5pm. Another sign in that area said "closed." The donation doors were open, and I saw two employees inside processing items. One woman yelled "we're closed" and continued looking through a box of merchandise. I assumed that the staff must be going to lunch soon, and I asked "for how long?" She said, "Probably for several hours," and continued to go through the merchadise. I left and figured I'd come back a few days later. This morning, my husband called Goodwill to confirm their donations hours for today. The woman who took his call said, "We take donations 11am-5pm." We ran errands throughout the day and planned to swing by Goodwill to make our donation before 5pm. At 4:15pm, I asked my husband to call Goodwill again before we drive out that way to make sure they are not already closed. I am glad he did because the woman who took our call said the donations dept's hours of operation are 11am-4pm and they are closed from 1:30-2:30pm for lunch. Maybe something popped up that required Goodwill to shift their hours of operation day-of, like being short-staffed or having to process current merchandise before accepting more. Even if that's the case, it would be great if Goodwill could provide people reliable times to come back to donate. :) read more

I haven't shopped at this store since high school, but now that I'm pushing 30 I'm shedding all of my "why do I own this?" crap. For the shoes, furniture, and clothes that still have life in them (I'm looking at you, fringe boho top from Ross with the tags still on) - off to Goodwill they go. Folks working here are laid-back and happily accept donations. If you itemize your taxes, they can hook you up with a receipt. They advertise being open for drop off from 10-2, but 3 out of 4 times when you arrive between the advertised hours they are either done accepting FREE items for the day or they have a large delivery truck blocking the door and tell you to come back later. GoodWill: not just for my BurningMan shopping!! This place is massive and really well-organized. Husband wanted a couple shirts for work and I found some like-new ones for about $6 each. I picked out several and they were all really nice. No stains, rips, odors, etc. Perfect! Also grabbed a sparkly tank for my little 22 yr old cousin - I actually came in here on her birthday and saw the adorable top. $3 for a gift she'll love! As I was about to head to the register, I saw a dress hanging that caught my eye. Size 6 it said. I chuckled at the idea of me fitting into it but decided to give it a try. I lucked out as the tag was lying and it fit me perfectly! It is an amazing ruffled and beaded black cocktail dress. $15 was fair, since it was in perfect condition and was almost a custom fit. At the register I realized husband had my I.D. - I couldn't use my credit card without it. I have "SEE I.D." written on the signature line. I had to use my debit card :( BUT I LOVE that the employee enforced this, even though I tried to persuade her to let it slide. Most places don't even ask to check. Also, there were a couple guys working and they were very polite. I even got called "ma'am" a couple of times. They were moving large carpets and other stuff and were very courteous as they walked by. Good hiring, GoodWill! I was out of there in less than 15 minutes. I have not browsed at this Goodwill in many years. Today we stopped by to drop off 3 large bags of clothing and shoes, plus two boxes of household items, Many years ago they had a large truck at the back of the store where items could be dropped off. Now they take items through the front door. While they did not have a cart for us, they suggested we pull up right to the door and then they helped us unload our items. I did not take time to look through the store, but my first impression was that the store was spacious, not crowded with merchandise. I like donating to Goodwill as they help people get back on their feet after facing adversities. As I continue to clean closets, I will keep Goodwill in mind. read more

This goodwill stands 2-3 doors down from the 'Big Tree' on Clayton road. The collection is mostly small things. When it comes to furniture this is not a very good choice. Plenty of clothes for standard sizes. As clean as you would expect it to be. If you want to consider yourself green (I not; I'm a conservation) I would think you have an obligation to shop for items that would not encourage production of more items. All productions and transport of goods creates pollution and use of energy. Thus should be considered an inferior green selection to purchasing already produced items looking for new homes; which sounds like a good idea to me too. read more

I wish this location would sort their clothing by size. I hate wasting my time searching through clothes that aren't my size. The Goodwill stores in Sacramento area, Citrus Heights have everything sorted by size. People buy more clothes when they can easily find what size they need. I've mentioned this to a manager a few months ago but no changes. To me it seems like a logical thing to do. It seems lazy to sort according to color and length of the sleeve. smells like your dad's work boots that he just took off... I sneezed and kept sneezing in here. It's a hit or miss type of thing, I don't come in for clothes..arghh i could not do that! However I do come for great finds such kitchen items and sometimes even cute frames... this place was unorganized opened a bit late, I stood outside for 4 min. before opening time which was suppose to be 9am. Why am I soo early at this place?? Let's just say that Concord HP's have nothing better to do but give you tickets...in this friggin' city! I hope to never come back again to the Court house which seemed more like a window for the accounting receivable (pay window) instead. Had to make use of my time while we drove all the way down here for his ticket and traffic school..arrhg.. You have to examine every inch of an item in the store before you buy it and hope for the best of luck.
