Closed for remodel, in the past have liked shopping and donating here. This store supports animals.

Very nice selection of clothes, and the clerk was playing guitar and singing while we shopped. How fun! We'll definitely be back.

I recently went out to East Hampton to visit family and stopped by the Arf Thrift Store on my way.

The area is sketchy but what part of Oakland isn't. Upon entering you get a rift of smelly clothes and not enough ventilation. Store was busy so I made my way to the less crowded area and moved along. As I had filled my buggy up, I was waiting for the cashier when I glanced and saw some Alexander Mcqueen shoes in my size. I said to myself, today is my lucky day. I did knock off a star as no on greets or acknowledges you and probably they are used to people just chilling doing nothing in the store. The store could be a little organized with the shoes and general nic nacks they have on the shelves. If you looking for a bargain and things that can be washed and disaffected then don't judge and make your way over here.

Today there was a different cashier who charged me 4 items when I had 3 and told me she cannot refund me despite her mistake. She was the store manager, nice, but still. This is done purposefully. It has happened too many times to be a coincidence. Another way to boost revenue is to charge men prices for kids items. I don't have to be treated that way. I am a custimer and I have donated dozen of bags of items over the years. Will go to Savers instead.

At that price, you could easily buy a brand-new one elsewhere. Given that these items are donated and clearly pre-owned, the pricing doesn't seem to reflect their actual condition or value. Either prices have always been this high here, or shoppers simply don't know better. I'd rather make the drive to the Vacaville location, where there are actual deals.

26 Dec 2025 2.5 Stars…read more We tried to "donate" this solid wood table. It was supposed to cost us $100 to have it picked up and "donate" it. One chair has an arm that needs to be reattached with a screw and wood glue and the tabletop shows 35 years of use. It is a nice piece or furniture. By the way, a week ago I turned down a $200 purchase offer for the table because I don't like being low-balled. Its a nice solid table needing some love. The Habitat truck shows up and the driver tells me it will now cost us $217 to donate it because bla bla bla I didn't understand the reasoning. I'm just trying to do a solid to the Jimmy Carter gig. I said "Never mind we will keep the table." This because I don't like being bait and switched. The furniture pick up fellows seemed not to mind not carrying the table and chairs to the truck. I was a truck driver and physical labor guy for decades. Workers not caring for the greater good? I get it though I was not that. What a waste of Habitat donated time, money and energy. We are out a $10 furniture pick up scheduling fee. Update: We got a message that we would get the $10 scheduling fee. I don't really care about that rinky dink fee. We were just trying to do Jimmy Carter and his beloved organization a solid.

A fantastic place to donate items - free residential pickup!…read moreMy mother is moving back east so I needed to help her get rid of almost all of her furniture so I called Hospice Thrift Shoppes. The person on the phone was very friendly and explained what items they would look for and the movers themselves would make the final decision on certain items. It was easy to arrange a date and the movers themselves will call you about a half hour before they arrive. While they mainly focus on furniture, they will take up to 3 boxes of smaller items like clothing, cutlery, dishes, etc but furniture is the priority and they might not have enough space for something in a box (which could be dropped off at the store more easily). They are prompt and professional, but can be super affable if you are nice as well. I would suggest letting them play their own music or whatever, it's good to have some cold bottled water to give them if you can. We had two movers come today and they were LOVELY! We joked around and helped out where we could, we provided ziploc bags for the various nuts and bolts that came with certain furnishings. Small things like this can make a huge difference in their day and all interactions. They helped me take down a wall mounted flatscreen tv, so make sure to have some tools on hand they can use if you need to take anything apart! I absolutely recommend this as a way to inexpensively get rid of furniture if you have nowhere else to donate. This should be your FIRST CALL before all others! *Note* They do not take beds/mattresses, really big/giant items, couches with patterns (they prefer solid color) and try to avoid too much glass. Again it'll be up to the movers to decide what works for the stores. They pick up and pretty much immediately drive it to the store so there is no time to fix anything or whatever. I am going to check out one of their stores later to actually see the selection, it seems they have a good eye for things so I wouldn't be surprised that you could find some great items (especially clothing!).

I've had good experience here as a buyer besides some prices being way too high for a thrift store…read more My main issue recently is with donation. My recently donated a large amount of items while doing a clean out on a house. Some of the items were very nice and pretty valuable too. I just did not have time to sell them so I had to donate to get the house cleared out. I dealt with a guy wearing a cowboy hat, who was very nice to me. Very polite. Then my next trip I've dealt with another guy who is incredibly rude. Black dude, bald with a mustache. Everything that I was unloading, he had some negative comment to make. One thing was a Christmas tree still in its box. He said "this? Really? What the hell we gonna do with a Christmas tree in April??" then he continued to make comments about everything else. Luckily, the other guy came out with the cowboy hat and took over. And everything was fine after that. But Jesus Christ, when people are donating items for you guys to sell, you don't sit there and make shitty comments about everything they are donating. I will donate elsewhere from now on because of this employee.

I went to this Savers on a random Monday expecting thrift store chaos (you know, the good…read morekind)...and instead got department store pricing with a side of audacity. A Le Suit was priced well over $100, along with other items. Like I'm sorry, since when did used become "luxury resale adjacent"? A few items were reasonable, but the majority felt like someone discovered a pricing gun and a dream. At that point, just say you're a boutique and stand in it. Whoever is pricing at this location either needs retraining...or a gentle reintroduction to what the word thrift actually means. A true disappointment.
