It is the beginning November and holiday items are sprinkled throughout Austin and surrounding areas. So if you want top pick of Christmas items, you need to start early...like now. I thought I go snooping around at Goodwill to see what they had shaking. I like Goodwill for Christmas decoration as they generally have a good selection of items to choose from at low prices...the winning combination. Goodwill is a great starting place. They has a few things like Christmas whatnots, a wooden tree and a couple of outfits. However, I did not see anything I could not live without. I was going to drop off some items, and of course, I forgot them at home. Will swing by another Goodwill soon...before the Christmas holidays ends to see if I can score some cute, reasonably priced holiday items. We accidently donated a "very unique" item to this Goodwill location around mid-afternoon on a weekday. Later that evening I went by the store and ask that it be returned to me, as this item was accidently included in a larger donation. The "manager" told me that they would not look for it and "once donated, it's a done deal". This is not only the worst customer service I have ever experienced but completely contrary to the return policy as promoted by the organization. We will be choosing an organization that we consider more reputable to donate to in the future. read more

I have been to this location dozens of times, but I realized I've never left a review. This is a decent sized Goodwill that at times has a decent selection of furniture. They have a large selection of books and music. And like every other Goodwill they have tons of clothing. I have to admit, at this location I have found an occasional gem now and then. read more

They have a decent selection but their employees are a mess and their prices are overvalued. Found a poorly made shirt with 3 stains on it for $8.99; um, what!? Furthermore, I asked the portly cashier if she knew when the discount colored tag days were. She rudely rolled her eyes and said no. I've always had mixed feelings about visiting Goodwill. Whenever I've gone, half the time I have to sort through heaps of junk to find the item I'm looking for. Because of this I have to give the Goodwill here on Parmer a strong thumbs-up. Whoever is running this store knows the value of organization. For example, the used books section actually has titles sorted by category and then alphabetically by author! Kudos, I know that's a bit of a chore. Definitely worth a visit if you're jonesing for a thrift shop adventure. :-) read more

A solid and well organized goodwill! This place definitely deserves more love than it's current 2.5 star rating. Tons of options - multiple racks for each category and tons of sizes. Good book and home goods selection. Didn't find many great "deals" or designers, but definitely solid quality items and variety. Got some cute slides and a romper and a book! Super easy donation process through drive thru too! read more

Loomis is rude every-time I've gone in there. Today Ulis (was not wearing name tag, Afrocarribian woman with a thick accent) was incredibly mean when I asked about dressing rooms. Both were full and I asked if I could use the RR and she said the dressing room is over there and pointed. I asked her name because she was trying to talk down to me and she stepped into my space and repeated herself and asked if I understood her. She when I asked her name she get more upset and kept repeating herself. This is the worst goodwill in Austin. I only ever stop here if I'm in the area. read more

This location is pretty good, I typically don't go in and just use the drive through to drop off, which is very convenient. But I sometimes go inside to look for special occasion outfits like Halloween and other holiday stuff, those things are usually easy to find. read more

It was ok. My daughter found 3 T-shirt's that she wants to convert into something else. I found a skort. They had a lot of items. It was fairly clean and organized. Goodwill is starting to become a bit pricey. I thought they were supposed to help the community with their prices. They be taxing the community.. lol read more

I dropped off a nice wooden box with shelves for puzzles, including about 10 puzzles stacked inside. A few were Melissa and Doug puzzles. I told the men there were puzzles inside (inferring to be careful with moving it...)--but I looked away and when I looked back one man grabbed the box roughly and then threw it aggressively into a giant donation bin from about 10 feet away, as if was some kind of funny game. I was appalled. All those puzzle pieces now certainly a MESS at the bottom of the bin. The box probably broken!!! That would have been a great little box of puzzles for a kid, but now it's probably ruined and all the pieces lost. I know these are "just" donated items, but I would expect employees to show some respect to items as they're unloaded from the car, especially when it comes to nice children's toys. I won't be donating here ever again. read more

I live a nomadic lifestyle and pretty much only shop at second hand stores. Unfortunately, this is by far the worst goodwill I've ever been to. From the horrifying bathrooms with no toilet paper and shit all over the toilet seat, to zero customer service and no greeting from any of the employees I walked passed, to the mess of the store with hardly any differentiation between what went where. Came in for some simple dress pants and white button down, which they had but were not in good shape whatsoever. Also, no one to help at the fitting rooms I waited for 10 minutes and decided to climb underneath the door rather than bothering one of the miserable employees. Don't waste your time. read more

I almost always donate at this location but this morning I had a terrible experience and will not be taking my items to this location any longer. Around 9:30 I pulled up behind another vehicle to drop off a carload of items. After a few minutes, nobody came out to gather our things so we began unloading the items by the door and setting them on a table that was outside. The gentleman who was working the drop-off came out and very forcibly told us that "The items don't go outside, they go inside." The gentleman in the vehicle in front of me said "Ok, sorry can I help you carry them in?" And the Worker informed him that no, he was not allowed inside and proceeded to yell that he had seen us pull up and knew we were there but the items don't go outside. I know that Goodwill does an amazing job at helping the community by putting people back to work, but this interaction makes me want to donate my items to another organization where I won't be yelled at for trying to aid their cause. In the end, I took the remainder of the items I intended to donate to a different organization. read more

I'm hesitant to write this review, since this Goodwill is like a hidden secret in Austin, but here goes. There's always tons of stuff here that you can't find at more central Goodwills. Those are picked through by resellers, but this one seems untouched by the frugal fiends. If I'm in the area, I always make a point to stop here. It also doesn't have that perfume-y smell that most Goodwills have. I'd say that all Goodwills are pretty much equal, but it's the minor differences that seem to reward the people willing to pick through mounds of crap. This one is spacious, has multiple racks of clothing, and room for big furniture. Add that all together and you've got a recipe for a pleasant thrift shop stop. read more

Definitely one of the neatest and most organized Goodwills I've seen. Prices in the home goods section did seem a little higher than other thrift stores. They have some new things as well, such as dish towels, cleaning supplies, and bedding. read more

Goodwill isn't my favorite thrift store to frequent, mostly because I know about their business practices and think they can improve, however no company is without faults. Now, considering the strategic location of this particular Goodwill, I tend to peak my head in here quite often too scrounge for quality furniture and items to fill our home. This particular Goodwill is located next door to Hana World Market and since I go there to eat lunch on occasion or to pick up young coconuts, seems silly not to walk in and head to the back to see if anything worthwhile is waiting to be picked up. On Friday, I totally scored a barely used $600 West Elm rug in great condition for $40. Yep. If I posted a picture, everyone would be too jealous, so I'll just leave it at that. There are a few other items I've picked up since we bought our new home this year and in doing so, I've saved hundreds if not a grand or two furnishing our home. read more

I'm usually more a Goodwill donater than shopper. This is my favorite place to go to for donation purposes. The dropoff area is hard to find for some. It is on the side of the building, in a little one-way drivethrough next to the neighboring Chipotle. The driveway is clean (often at places like this, there is glass on the ground, etc.), and, even better, covered. So you can even do so in the rain, and not get wet. When you pull your car up, the sliding doors open, which signals the workers inside that someone is there. That usually makes the process very quick and efficient. When we moved last year, we literally were coming by with donations 2-3 times a week. The staff were always nice, not even sighing when we asked for a receipt. After a few times, they remembered me and were even more personable. Plus, you get to people-watch the folks on the Chipotle patio. :) The times I *have* shopped here, I'm a little baffled by the sorting. As mentioned in another review, even the t-shirts are sorted by color. So you can see all sizes of GREEN shirts (mostly in size order), and then look at the red ones. Things are always going to range from "new with tags", to "Why are they even selling something this worn?". But it is what it is, and this location does "it" well. It's better for browsers, who like to take their time looking for hidden treasures. read more

I always feel a little sheepish in admitting that I shop at Goodwill. But, y'know what? To hell with it. I'm a Goodwill shopper and learning to be proud of it. On the plus side, it means you can get all your clothes pretty inexpensively. I never have to feel guilty about spending such-and-such on a pair of jeans or a cute top. Usually "such-and-such" translates to 5 or 6 bucks. Which means I can also be a little more experimental in what I wear -- try things I might not try normally, and if it doesn't work out, well, I just donate it back and buy something else. I like this particular location because it's pretty new, and fairly close to where I live. One of my favorite things to do on my day off -- particularly if that day off is a weekday -- is to spend a few hours browsing through clothes at Goodwill. I tend to get VERY thorough, and could easily spend 2 or 3 (or more) hours poring through their selection. On the downside, Goodwill generally doesn't believe in organization very much -- they tend to group clothes by color and type (short sleeves, long sleeves, etc), but certainly not by size. This is partly why it takes me so long to shop! But when you do find something good, it's like you've struck gold. And it's so cheap! I can think of a lot of worse ways to spend my money. read more

I went in looking just to check things out, I ended up spending 20$ and only leaving with 2 things. They also have monthly auctions (??) for expensive or name brand purses? Lame. Don't bother going here, go to the Goodwill outlet about 20 minutes away. For 20$ there I left with about 15 items, all in awesome or better shape than what I found at the goodwill on parmer. I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores. There isn't much to say about this location or place but go, save some money and buy used clothing. One of the fun things about thrift stores is there is a sense of adventure. You've no clue what you'll find and the treasure hunt even makes for good date time. I was here Wednesday night. I arrived at the store around 8:10, and it didn't really signify that the fitting room lights were off that whole time... until I had gone through an entire rack of clothes, picked out some possibilities, and asked at 8:29 if I could please be let into a fitting room. The staff person told me that they believed the rooms were now closed, and double checked something behind the counter to confirm that. No apology, no sharing the time the rooms are "closed," nothing. It seems like policy at this location, because I've been here before when people have been crawling under the fitting room doors to get into a room. When I left on Wednesday a woman was trying on her finds over her clothes next to her car, presumably because she, also, was denied a fitting room. I won't be back! read more

I go thrifting at most of the North Austin thrift stores at least once a week, but I make this particular Goodwill at least a twice a week stop. I'm big into vintage dishes, and this Goodwill has THE BEST dishware selection. Not only is their housewares selection massive, but it's actually organized (well, as organized as a thrift store can be). I find many lovely things for my house here. The clothing here is hit or miss, but I honestly think it's me. It's all pretty organized: dress shirts, sleeveless shirts, skirts, shorts, etc. And usually all by color. However, as with most Goodwill locations in Austin, their clothing prices seem to be a bit high. I don't *mind* paying $9 for a dress if it's an awesome dress, but it does bug me a little. Their shorts and shirts are also around $6 or $7 which I think is a little too expensive, but if they're making money off of it then I guess it's not. All around a nice, clean, well organized thrift store. :) read more

I went in on a very quiet afternoon with my toddler playing quietly at my feet, and proceeded to be stalked by an employee who told me no less than 5 times not to let her out of my sight, or to play with anything. When I confronted her about it, she said maybe I should have left the baby at home. Really -- you have to hire a sitter to go to Goodwill? I hope they enjoy the well-swept floor, because we won't be back (or donate). read more

Well it's your typical Goodwill. Nothing stood out too much, but it was reasonably well organized for the clothing section. I got some cheap jeans and a shirt for a failed Halloween costume, and successfully avoided the pair of jeans with the shart stain, so beware if you're in the market for oversized men's second-hand jeans because it's still waiting for you like a hidden rotten egg. read more

I used to really love shopping at this goodwill. I used to leave feeling like I got a good deal, but now I look at the prices and feel I'm being ripped off. The quality of the clothing has improved, and the store is better organized. But the prices seem to be about twice as much as what they were a few months ago. They have also started hanging pants so that the waistband and label stick out, rather than hanging them traditionally. I think this is intended to make it easier to find your size, but it also makes it so you don't know what the hell you're looking at. I would say that at least half the items in the store you'd be better off buying new, especially their house wares. I am highly disappointed. This location used to be my favorite. read more

Pretty standard Goodwill. Clothing section seems a little larger than most. The rest of the home goods, which is what I'm usually cruising for is consistently well organized. Seems like most of the stores nowadays are a mess by the afternoon, but they keep everything straight most of the time. Worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Okay so Goodwill prices these days aren't *the* best. Whatever. This place is so oddly lit i felt like I was going into the Twilight Zone. It was like a gymnasium with zero windows. I could not see certain rows of clothing. Thirft stores don't have to have the best atmosphere but you need to be able to see the merchandise. read more

This goodwill is very clean and organized. It is also very close to my home. The customer service is always good, and I can almost always find a deal each time I come in here. The only reason I give less than a full 5 stars is because most of their prices are far too high. There will be other store's clearance stickers on unopened items and the goodwill price is higher than the original price from the store. And why in the world would I pay $5 for a plain clear drink glass. You really have to dig for the deals here. read more

Recently dropped off a bunch of stuff for donation. Had some shelves that were not assembled for easy transporting but the guy there said they understaff and can only take stuff they can sell immediately. Wtf! I came back a second time that day and there were more workers and nicer ones at that. They do take electronics and old computers to recycle. Hard drive would be smashed and destroyed by Dell I was told. Overall average experience. read more

I shop in several Goodwill stores and this locations prices are NOT in line with the other local Goodwills. I was astonished to see many things marked at close to retail pricing. I will still shop Goodwill but NOT this location. I found it almost funny that they were selling stuff Target had deeply discounted and wound up donating. The clearance tags were still on the items but whomever was in charge of pricing felt they could try to sell it there at original retail price. It was the most butt backward logic I've ever seen in thrift store selling. Maybe this is why this store never seems to be very busy. Shoppers are catching on to the thrift store front with retail pricing going on inside. In all fairness, I don't look at clothes when I go in so I can't comment on that. My comments are about their hard goods area. read more

I went here looking for some clothes for an 80's prom night. I was impressed at how clean and organized it was. I had earlier been to the Goodwill off Lamar and 2222 and it was a bit dingy. I found my tacky 80's suit and am ready to Rock Lobster. =) Ill check this place out again for future costume changes. read more

this place is what you'd expect. lots of cheap clothes, cheap furniture, cheap everything. my wife, being a teacher, loves going here because they have tons of cheap kid books. $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardcovers. some of the smaller hardcovers are $1. the only downside to this place is bad customer service. they're just not very competent, i'm sad to say. they didn't know how to price different books according to their colored stickers and had to call managers a couple of times, and this lady wasn't a rookie. i guess people don't usually pay attention to what they're charged at goodwill and let it slide? read more

they have a new policy..everything is marked individually. In many cases they are priced higher than if bought new on sale. I used to come heer and walk out with a cart load of deals. The last 5 times I have walked out empty handed. Not sure if they are taking the higher end name brand stuff and selkling it on ebay, but I can tell you it's not on the racks ! read more

I am outraged by the prices at this Goodwill. I am not an avid thrifty shopper, but in an effort to save some money I decided to give it a go. Soooo disappointed! I would have been better off buying new items. When I checked out I paid $40 for a couple of shirts!!! what?! Next time I will skip thrift stores and just go get it new.
