Are negative stars an option? Erik dropped the ball on our job. We have yet to hear from him after the termite crew arrived at 5:30 pm (in the dark) and didn't leave until 9:30 pm. We kept track of the whole operation on RING. As soon as he knew that he could no longer claim that the job was moving along well, he stopped communicating altogether. He did mention at one time that this sort of thing had NEVER happened before ... after touting more than several times that he was in the business for 30 years. 1. They killed our 37 year-old Myer lemon tree that Erik assured us would not be covered. We sent photos. NO RESPONSE. 2. They dug up our decomposed granite landscaping because they didn't bring enough sandbags. And left holes in our yard and piles of decomposed granite everywhere. We sent photos. NO RESPONSE. 3. They left glue trailing up our stone steps (15 in all). Sticky unsightly glue. They just left it! We sent photos. NO RESPONSE. Clearly, he has no integrity when things go wrong. He's the easiest exterminator to speak to about our pest concerns and gives honest advise. He was considerate inspecting our home and our baby girl found him amusing. Very happy with our service. Erik's bid was half the cost of the other bid we got and his fumigator uses the same fumigant. He arranged for the gas to be turned off and back on for us. The crew was great and accommodated our request to arrange the time to return our keys to us rather than leaving them hidden somewhere on the property. Two major termite companies wanted to treat the entire perimeter of the house. I originally contacted goodnite termite back at the summer of 2019. Eric came out and was very helpful showing me where the termites were eating our house away. He explained to me it was currently swarm season and he showed me the entry points of where the termites were getting in, and he didn't seem to think fumigating my house was a good idea until I either fixed the area where they were coming in or until after swarm season. We scheduled for March 2020 as my children and I were going on a trip so it would be a perfect time to have the house treated for termites while we were gone. Well because of Covid our trip ended up getting cancelled, and Eric was really understanding about us canceling too. Fast forward to March 2021 and our trip was rescheduled so we rescheduled with Goodnite termite too. Eric let our original quote stand even though prices had gone up and our quote had long expired. Eric was great at keeping me updated with what was going on while I was away, they had to reschedule till a day or two later due to very heavy rain but he let me know what was going on every step of the way and had the house ready before we got home. Our experience mirrored some of the positive reviews, but I wouldn't say it was perfect. Erik's bid was lower than the other 2 bids by about 20%. We were glad to save some money. Erik and his crew showed on time, both during the initial inspection as well as during the tenting and removal. There were some communication issues 'though. We tried to get our dates confirmed, but all we got was silence for some time. I realize that they might have some things pending, but a simple, "we'll check and get back to you" would be useful. It wasn't pleasant to have to track him down and led to some worry about whether they would follow-through, and whether scheduling issues would lead to loss of hotel deposits and such. The tenting itself was fairly smooth, but there were a couple of minor issues. First, a few things were broken, such as part of a fence (they said they would try to fix it themselves). Second, the workers opened ALL cabinets and drawers. We knew that they would check the house for unsecured food, plants and animals, but it would've been good to have more clear advance warning so that we could hide things inside the dressers a bit better. Nothing appeared to be missing, but I wanted it to mention it so that others can secure their items as appropriate. Can't say enough about goodnight termite. We were in the process o f remodeling our home and the contractor found termites. After contacting several companies, and choosing goodnight termite, we scheduled the fumigation. That is when we ran into some timing conflicts, between the different trades, and, the city inspectors, that needed access to the house. Four times we had to change the tenting date, and this is where the patience and gracefulness was revealed. Having to get the gas company involved each time, this was a bigger hassle than one would seem. But in a very understanding way they accommodated us. Of course having termites in your home is a nightmare; it is quite difficult to get rid of them and they are all too common in Los Angeles. I had spent thousands of dollars on treatments with oils and sprays that did NOT work. Although that company was pleasant to deal with and responsive, the termites just moved from place to place after each spray treatment. They finally ended up in the furniture. I had to throw out a beautiful silk couch and two upholstered chairs which became infested with termites only after the treatment. I finally decided to tent the house and it was easier than I thought, not such a big deal. Three days later all was back to normal. I have not seen one termite or any other critters.
