The cookies were decent, but the boysenberry pocket really stood out: flaky, held together perfectly, and full of flavor. The ambiance was inviting, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they also offer a variety of sandwiches and other menu items. I'd definitely come back to try more of those, along with additional desserts and pastries. I even picked up some dog treats while I was there--always love discovering places like this!

Customer service was very friendly, prices were clearly displayed and fair, and the portions were good sizes. Here's what I just liked: The cake part of the red velvet, mousse, and carrot cake was a bit dry. They were beautifully decorated, the frosting and fillings were great, but the cake itself just wasn't as soft and moist as I was hoping. Upon entering, I was struck by three things, how friendly the worker was, how hard the door was to open (I do have mobility issues on occasion), and how little there was on display to choose from. Still, I found a couple of nice items (red velvet and some serious chocolate cake) my wife loved the chocolate but we found the red velvet to be quite dry and hard. I suspect that it had been in the case far too long. Fortunately the chocolate was so good, my wife said that it more than made up for it. Overall, the ambiance was simple bakery, nice folks, serving well. I suspect where these nice folks shine is in pre-orders (which makes TOTAL sense, as foot traffic, particularly in this bakery's location would be a tough sell indeed). I suspect that we will be keeping Dessert European Cakes and Pastries in mind for our upcoming bakery needs.

When you pull in the parking lot, you wouldn't expect the gem of a tea room inside. We all agreed on a couple of different teas to try, and "the Royal" accommodated a variety of scones, sandwiches, desserts and fruit. Such a wonderful time, and experience. Highly recommend.
