I decided to give this coffee shop a try since I always go to Starbucks in the Turlock area and I wanted to try other local businesses around the Turlock and Hilmar area. I saw a lot of advertisements from my Facebook friends on how Hilmar had a coffee shop again. I noticed The Sweet Life did not have any reviews on the Yelp account, so I wanted to pay a visit to the coffee shop and try out their pastries and drinks. Before entering the restaurant, I first observed the coffee shop's outside design and decoration, and their rating to see what other reviewers think of this shop. I heard a lot of positive remarks about this restaurant from my FB friends for their pastries, and I was thoroughly excited to write about this coffee shop. I walked to the counter to choose my coffee drink and breakfast option. I decided to order a white mocha drink and a peach pastry after observing their coffee and pastry menu. The barista also stated the coffee shop bakes their pastry in the store which is a big plus in my books. A facility or restaurant that create their products for their consumers is a good quality for success. I do not have to think that they have to order food products from outside sources. The music and environment are entirely peaceful, and I have no complaints about the noise level. Although the clientele for this shop is geared towards the older Hilmar, working individuals, and school children population, I believe the coffee shop has the potential to reach other community in the small town of Hilmar. The wait time for both drink and breakfast item was quick, and I was pleased with their services.
Service: Their service was amiable, welcoming, and professional. The cashier/barista was very straightforward and friendly on breakfast and coffee selection. The barista suggested many food selections from the menu, and I was very impressed with the menu. My overall impression of the coffee shop was excellent, and I do not have any current complaints. Although I was very pleased with their services, I believe they could do better in their services provided for their location and audience with possible media exposure and more deals. Starbucks currently has services for consumers on the go, and I believe the services could benefit their business if they are open to more services.
Location: The Sweet Life Coffee Shop is located in downtown Hilmar near the McDonalds and Dollar General Store. I said it once, and I will repeat it! There is nothing better than to have a food-related facility or coffee shop in a downtown area where they will interest people working nearby or people traveling across the city limits. The parking lot has enough space and does not have any difficulty with obtaining parking spots. Even though parking may not be difficult and limited, The Sweet Life is located along a hectic road, and they will receive possible traveling clientele. I do not see anything better than being located in the heart and soul of Hilmar, CA near the busy Lander Avenue and busy food restaurants.
Price: The Sweet Life is very reasonable and doesn't demand too much money from your wallet or purse compared to other coffee shops. However, I believe the McDonalds can interfere with the cost of coffee and their drive-thru business.
Environment: The shop environment is excellent. I am confident that the coffee shop can be jam-packed during the weekends and after school with children who are trying to hang with their friends and celebrate a social event around downtown Hilmar. The coffee was playing very peaceful music during my visit. The coffee shop's lighting provided a comfortable environment to eat my pastry and coffee.
Food: The coffee shop did a great job of separating it from other coffee shops in the Central Valley area through baking their shop's pastry. My breakfast was the peach scone with white mocha. The scone portion was more significant than I expected from other facility providing in the Turlock and Hilmar area. I am a very, very, very, very big food critic for authentic, predominate cultural foods from outside the Central Valley (Mexican and American cuisine). The Sweet Life did a great job making their food pop with their authenticity, uniqueness, and fresh baking methods. Each of their food ingredients seemed very fresh and provided a range of flavor in a pastry. One of their strongest points with my visit to the coffee shop. A possible suggestion to create and test Portuguese pastry in their coffee shop.
Overall, I was delighted with their customer service and food items. There is so much growth that The Sweet Life can do to compete with Starbucks and McDonald. I understand they are a new coffee shop in the Hilmar area, but their business can develop more from new social marketing options. I am confident that I will come back to this coffee shop. I would recommend this coffee shop to my friends, family, or clients. read more
