Good intent is a solid choice for a good drink away from the hustle and bustle of...well...downtown Bellefonte (which sounds ridiculous now that I've written it). But in all seriousness, this is an excellent place to gather with friends and enjoy some really excellent cider. Everything I've tried here has been fantastic, and that is saying something because I am not a cider person and tend to be very picky. They also sell some small bites such as cheeses, meats, and sweets which are always a must. If you don't want to buy something they have for sale, you can always bring your own food which is a great option if you want something more filling! Seating can get limited depending on how busy they are. Indoor seating is very limited, but the outdoor sitting area is really nice if the weather holds out. Bring a dog, bring some food, and enjoy some good drinks! read more

What a profound disappointment. I fear they are out of business. I tried to call on Friday at 3:10, as they clearly state they open at 3. 10 of us had hoped to visit for movie night tonight. I got an answering machine. OK, maybe someone was in the bathroom or something. Called again, at 4:45. Also got the machine, so I left a message. i love this place. i love this place so much that i wish they were open more than just once a week. i appreciate the happy hour and the BYO Food. the service is great. i love their events like halloween spoopy movie nights. my favorite cider is the fruity pebbles (mix of violets lament (blueberries) & the british imposter (earl grey). all of their drinks are delicious and surprisingly high in abv, making them dangerous. read more

This was a fun experience tasting all of their hard ciders. I never knew there were so many types of ciders. There is an indoor and outdoor area and they have cheese (extra cost) to go with the ciders. The people running the place were very nice. This was a positive experience for us. We skipped #7 and #10, because we didn't like thai dragon pepper or IPA beers. Follow accordingly. #1- apple juice. wasn't sweet, wasn't sour, wasn't really anything. #2- champagne with an apple taste. my personal favorite #3- like number 1 but with a little more carbonation. slightly tart, but not much #4- made with 31 apples (talk about extra), and tastes like it too (but also very mellow). #5- Friend (Gabby) her favorite so far. smokey like whiskey, with a sweet sweet finish, like honey. #6- very light on the maple and ginger, like a super light kombucha. #8- very light woody notes, but not much in the way of vanilla. drinking 1 before 8 helps bring out the flavors more #9- very wine-like. like a plum wine. just sweet. Good Intent is our favorite place for a date night, a game night with friends, and to show off friends in town! There are many varieties of cider to try; I'd recommend sitting at the bar and getting a flight your first time there to get the full experience! The staff is always really helpful and can guide your choices, too. Our favorites are Adam's Apple, North Meets South (aged in bourbon barrels -- so good and so strong!), Ginger Kid, British Imposter (Earl Gray!), Wickson, and we could go on and on... Pro Tip: While the sell local cheese, meat, and crackers (which are delicious), they also allow you to BYOF (food!). We often stop by Trader Joe's, Wegman's, or another grocery store to bring our own meat & cheese platter. They also have a book of menus behind the counter you can use to order delivery directly to the cidery! Eat up -- and then you can stay and drink longer :-) read more

Was on a trip and found about out this place because we had one of their ciders at Boxcar Brew Works and it was really good. Turns out Good Intent wasn't too far from where we were staying, so we decided to check it out. I think we tried four different ciders, plus the one from boxcar, and all of them were excellent. I'm a big fan of cider and these were some of the best I've had. I particularly liked the Strawberry one, Violet's Lament, and the one I think it was called Happy Valley. I like sweet ciders and they had a good selection of them. Currently it's covid and they only have outside seating, however the outside patio is quite nice - it's also across the street from a stream and a park. Additionally, the current law is that you can't drink without ordering food so they are offering lunchables, lol, or a "cheese tray" which is a huge sleeve of crackers + cheese + a pack of reeses pieces + a bag of nuts. We got one of the cheese trays and it was hilariously good. Unfortunately we live far away, but if we're back in the area we will definitely come back! read more

Good Intent was our last stop for the evening on Saturday and it was great. The bartenders remembered my friend who had been in previously and made myself and our friend who had never been there before feel like family. Their cider is fantastic and the ambiance is everything you'd expect. We only sat inside at the bar as it was chilly. This was my first experience visiting an official cidery and we are new to PA so we weren't quite sure what to expect. Some friends highly recommended it, mostly because you can bring your own food and sit outside on the patio with it. That's a great perk (and money saver). They have lots of types of ciders as well as one or two cider "cocktails". I got a cider cocktail and thought it was pretty good though nowhere near as good as a true cocktail (sorry, I'm a purist). The patio is lovely and their prices are pretty reasonable. You can do tasting flights or glasses or even purchase whole bottles to take home and refill over time. That's cool. They had clean bathrooms (not sure why they aren't gender neutral....). Oh, they also have local cheeses and sausage to get for a sort of last minute "cheese board" to go with your cider. They provide a knife and board. The main negative to our visit was there were only two girls working on a pretty busy night and they weren't very polite. I'm sure they were just overwhelmed but still- it's nice if they'd smile and not seem so frustrated by simple things. read more

I travel back to State College from Los Angeles several times a year, and Good Intent Cider is ALWAYS on my itinerary. The shop is small but very adorable, clean, well presented. The owner has spent time talking to me on a few occasions and he's very nice. He taught me all about their production process. Every bartender we've had has been fantastic and attentive. Everyone seems to be personable. And most importantly, the cider is to die for. We always bring bottles back home to LA and drink them on special occasions. This place is a hidden gem (I almost don't want to share about it for fear of having to share it!). Found this place a few years ago and I love it! Very friendly staff, local and cozy vibes, great cider and you can bring your own food/snacks. They do sell cheese and crackers. In the summer their patio is a perfect place to unwine with a great drink. You can buy drinks by the: flight, glass, bottle or growler! This is an adorable little cidery that is well worth the drive out to Bellefonte. They have a surprising amount of variety for a new place. If you've only tried store-bought cider, you're in for a treat. The cider here is much more complex and comes in a variety of ABVs and sweetness levels. Apples are sourced locally. It costs about $4 for a small glass. The sampler is a must. Other than cider, they have some local cheeses and other snacks. No kitchen - although I'm sure you can bring in take out. The service was fast and friendly. One anoyance was that you have to buy their growler ($8) if you want to take some cider home with you. It costs about $12-14 to fill it up, but it's half the size of a regular beer growler. I think this could be priced a bit better. Also, their back room needs some improvement. When we went back there to hang out, it was littered with boxes and children's toys. Cleaning up the space and maybe getting some board games will make for a nice hangout spot. It was a bit too cold to use the patio when we came by, but if they get some tables and live music out there, I will definitely be back. read more

Fantastic cider with delicious local cheese and crackers. Several varieties are on offer, and all are delicious. The delicious cider is brewed on site from local apples. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. The interior decor is spartan but attractive. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the patio in the shade of the cliff and enjoy the view of the stream.
