I wanted to love this place. It has some of the right ingredients to be successful. But ultimately…read morethe Korean food just lacked that something you need. I got the rice bowl and it was something you don't expect: kind of bland. Heck I Ben the hot chili paste wasn't too hot or flavorful either. Yes the ingredients were fresh but it just was forgetful the moment you left the place. The noodle dish was similar. Both were also a little light on the protein, particularly the noodles which needed some else to be successful. The dumplings were fine but the next day I had another dumplings that reminded me why these dumplings felt bland as well. The interior is ok and service was uninspired too. Did like the potato salad for the little side dish. But just enough to make me want to make an effort to go back. It's not bad by any means but just rather plain.

We also had to request a drink menu as they're not listed on the food menu. We ordered the Dragon Ball sushi app to share. I ordered the chicken katsu ramen and my son ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. All the food came out at the same time. We would've preferred to have the appetizer first. The Dragon Ball sushi was very good. My son loved his Ramen. I thought the chicken katsu ramen was OK but not great. I also would've liked Sriracha or a spicy sauce on the side. Nothing was offered though, and we were almost done with our meals by the time the weight staff came back task everything was. It seems like they were very short staffed as they only had two waitstaff for the whole restaurant. The ambience is very dark. I had a hard time reading my menu and needed to tilt it into the light to be able to read it. I am definitely willing to try this place again though.

We started off with a scorpion bowl- it came to us actually lit ! I feel like that's not common around here lol. I have to say it was one of the most fresh tasting scorpion bowls I've had. Very good -didn't taste like any pre mix. We then got the lychee martini and a mai tai- I was pleasantly surprised to see it came with two lychees instead of one. The sushi presentation was beautiful! We ordered 3 rolls and it was delivered on a beautiful platter with flowers. Nice touch! The sushi tasted fresh and rolls on the menu were very original. It was hard to choose! The staff were friendly and accommodating. My only negative on this place was my trip to the bathroom. The toilet paper roll was empty and the paper towel roll was also empty. Other than that we were happy with the date night out.

While only a few miles from home, we tend to avoid Newport during the crazy busy summer months, but…read morethis has been on our radar since opening. The RI Food Fights TacoMania competition & tourist season starting to slow got us over the bridge to try early on a Saturday evening. Arriving just after opening, we had our choice of tables in an empty room. That was a good thing since, by the time we left, the place was jamming! The server, who was welcoming, enthusiastic about the menu & and handled the ever-growing crowd on his own, told us that we could always call ahead for a table. Good to know since we didn't see a way to reserve. The little place is comfy & lovely! The decor perfectly suits the Newport scene and includes a welcoming food bar area that would be perfect for enjoying their international tapa-like street-food inspired offerings. A small patio is available to overlook Memorial Blvd in nicer weather. While they do not have a liquor license, you are welcome to BYOB and we did, finding the $3 per person corkage fee very fair. Now, about the food... WOW! What a explosion of fun flavors! With choices of snacks from around the world, you can jump from one intense palate to another, over and over. Three of us shared five small dishes & one large and we loved them all. The Nduja Shrimp Dumplings were delicate and fresh and loaded with flavor. The tacos that we were here to judge were fantastic. The pork was juicy & flavorful, and, though we were afraid the vegetable tacos would be boring - they were anything but. We'd eat these all the time! Bravas Frites were a fun twist on traditional Spanish Patatas Bravas, using fries as a base rather than cubed potatoes. Again, delicious! But, our favorite of the small plates had to be the Brussel Sprouts. We almost didn't get them as they've been so over-done, but felt vegetable guilt & threw them in. OMG - the best prep of these tiny cabbages ever! Finally, the pièce de résistance was the Lobster Fried Rice - a perfect way to top it all off. Buttery, umami & loaded with chunks of fresh lobster meat, my mouth waters now just thinking it. So glad we finally stopped here. A great Tacomania contender and we can't wait to return to eat our way through the rest of the menu!

My review is not favorable but I think knowing this is a Pasta Beach effort - it will be a hit in a few months. It is in the original Pasta Beach spot next to a Dunkin' Donuts for whatever reason is open late at night. The positives - plenty of nearby street parking, modern and cozy space, and very good staff. I should mention that after we ordered, our 5 appetizers arrived starting in 5 minutes and all were served within 10 minutes. We did screw up by forgetting we were at BYOB. OK - the killer - the food. Of the 5 appetizers we ordered only one was a winner! That was the Brussel sprouts which were outstanding and a large portion. All the other dishes were about the right size for sharing by 2. Realize they are striving for "fusion" but they missed it on the pulled pork dumplings. The lamb skewers were a struggle to eat - tough (and certainly could not be eaten off the skewers) - but the saving grace was the dipping sauce. The big failures were the prosciutto croquettes - a real mess with a sliver of meat on top of mainly onions - and OMG - the Korean chicken wings. The latter came slathered with a sticky and spicy, sweet, red sauce (too hot for my wife) and some sort of dipping sauce. A mess to eat. We had to request paper towels and dip in our water to clean up. Damages with tip was $90 and we only had a tea and sparkling water. We may try it in a few months, but their current menu did not work with our palates. Food 2/5 Service 5/5 Value 3/5 (average) Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 5/5 (lack of) Décor 5/5

Stopped in for takeout to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were too tired to go out somewhere. That was a mistake. We ordered five dishes, and the chicken moo shi and the chicken lo mein were the only items in the good range. Worst dish was the spicy crispy pork chop, which must have been refried a few times. Consistency was like jerky, tough, chewy to the point of having to pull the piece while in your teeth. Spicy, but after a piece we did not eat more. The general gao's chicken had too much batter on it making the pieces like chewy tootsie rolls. Last was beef and broccoli, which was okay, beef was a bit chewy and the veg was okay. Wife thinks new management or new chef, as these dishes we have curated as their best, after suffering through some not good dishes. Restaurant business is hard, proteins are expensive, now vegetables are expensive and inconsistent in pricing due to tariffs, transport costs. May have to forgo this place in the future and look to drive towards Quincy where competition makes for better restaurants.

Rating: 4.3 Came to…read moretry this sushi restaurant as i was near the area. It's a local asian restaurant offering sushi, hibachi, and more. It's located in a plaza so parkings are readily available. When we got there it was early just when the restaurant opened so it was empty. Inside is small with some seatings and tables with bar area. Once we sat down we took a look at the menu and placed our order We got tsunama crisp and divers scallop appetizer to start. They were both good but tsunama crisp was our favorite. Scallops were good but pairings sauce and salad in the middle was ok. Garlic noodle was okay as well. Bit strong on the soy sauce but needed a bit more depth of flavor or sweetness. Sushi was good. I personally liked the eel roll. Service was good and waitress was attentive. Overall it's a solid asian restaurant offering decent sushi and asian food in the area. However it's not unique since they don't offer m anything that is significantly different from other asian restaurants. Since it's a bit far from where i'm located not sure if i'll return unless I'm already in the area.

Fried tempura poke bowl - there is a lot going on with this plate or bowl, but from the edamame and fresh mangoes to the perfectly fried shrimp it is definitely one of my favorite dishes here. As I was waiting for my food, it seemed it was a highly requested item with the locals also. My only gripe is that I wish that the bowl was bigger so that it would be easier to eat. Spring rolls - not a big fan, but they were not bad. You can tell that they were frozen and then fried. Very mushy insides not the freshest that I've had but definitely not a highlight of the meal. As always, these are my opinions and should be vetted by your own opinion of the place. The place has very limited seating so definitely don't come with a large party due to only two tables. No instore bathroom to use so keep that in mind. If I had to rate this place, I would've rate it an 8 due to the menu items and the sushi is amazing. It is a very limited spacing place so it is understandable that they don't have a lot of amenities that a bigger place would have but they do make the best of the situation with their personalities and their food.
