This was my first time trying Good Fortune and I'm so glad I did!! They're always packed, but it was nice to finally experience what I've heard so much about. The food was delicious!! My ramen & the honey wings were perfectly prepared. The environment is upbeat with a nice music selection and the low hum of conversations. The dining area is small though so be prepared to be close to your neighbors. Overall, the food and service are great so it's worth the visit. Note: parking is limited on busy evenings and weekends because there's only street parking since they're located off of Main Street Downtown.

If you find yourself in downtown, this place is a must try. As someone who came from the west coast, this is some, if not the best Asian food I've had since relocating to Tennessee. All of the dishes are expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and combine such unique flavors together. Everything I had was genuinely outstanding, my favorite being the tofu and I cannot wait to come back here.

We were lucky to get a seat at the bar on a busy Wednesday night. There are great small plates for sharing, and we tried the potato dumplings, charred edamame, impossible meat dumplings, and the rolls. All were great. Our bartender recommended my Bruce Lychee cocktail which was so refreshing and the perfect tart compliment to the food.

We enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The dumpling appetizer was very good, as were the chicken wings. The crunch on the wings was...*chef's kiss.* They have a choice of Japanese whiskeys, which I've never tried, so I had the Old Fortune which is an Old Fashion with one of the aforementioned Japanese whiskeys. The ramen itself was excellent, with delicious broth and ingredients. The noodles are noticeably better than other ramen we've had at other places. It was worth the drive downtown to eat here, so if you're staying downtown you're in a great position to have a really nice meal.

They had a pop up this past weekend at The Liquor Store Restaurant and I was able to go! After their participation in The Great Food Truck Race everyone was so excited for the Slap Noodles. Due to it being a pop up there was a bit of a wait but everyone was so nice from the bartender to the guy slapping the noodles were nice! It was my 1st time in The Liquor Store but I'll be back. It was a very cool laid back vibe. I ordered The Beef Noodles and the Wings. The noodles were very tender and tasty and the beef had a nice flavor. The wings were delicious, covered in a sauce that made you look at it twice. Be on the lookout for the next one and get there early.

I feel like every time I go out of town, we have to try a local Asian spot. Good Fortune was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was crowded but luckily we did manage to get one of the last available tables. Our waitress was great. She was very attentive. I ordered the dumplings and my husband ordered the chicken and rice bowl. We loved the food. The dumplings had a chili oil on them so there was a spicy kick. I appreciate how attention to detail the restaurant is. There were about 7 dumplings on my plate and the waitress came back and said "we owe you one more" and they brought a fresh one for me. It was a nice gesture where if they didn't tell me about it, I probably would not have noticed. The star of the show was the Taiyaki. We saw photos on Yelp and knew we were going to order it. They change the flavor periodically. When we were there, the flavor was apple pie. It has caramel ice cream, apple pie filling and of course the Taiyaki pastry. It was the best ice cream I had. The portion was huge so I was not able to finish it. The prices were very fair for what you get. 2 entrees and 2 desserts came up to around 50 dollars. In this day and age, it's not a bad deal. If you need a break from the typical Memphis tourist spots, go to Good Fortune!

Coco Curry Ramen

Located in the up-and-coming South Main neighborhood, Good Fortune serves up a variety of tasty made-to-order Japanese cuisine -- including ramen soups, rice bowls, and a small selection of hot and cold appetizers -- in a very casual ambiance served by efficient and friendly staff. I wasn't expecting to find freshly-made, tasty, and authentic ramen in a city known for barbequed bologna, but I had to try Good Fortune after receiving a glowing recommendation from the owner of DVOUR. I usually order Kuro Miso (or Spicy Pork) ramen served in a pork broth, but our server recommended the Coco Curry ramen ($17), a vegetarian dish made with hand-pulled noodles in a coconut-milk based broth and topped with fried tofu and and thai basil. YUM! One of the best ramen soups that I have ever had! My dining companion had the Tan Tan ramen ($17), a vegetarian dish made with hand-pulled noodles in a vegetable broth and topped with vegetarian soboro (which has the flavor and appearance of ground beef, scallions, cilantro, and chili, which she really enjoyed. Our server. Natalia, was fantastic and offered some terrific recommendations for our first trip to Good Fortune. The portion sizes were very filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back next time we're in Memphis! PRO TIP #1: Flavortown Mayor Guy Fieri visited Good Fortune in the 2024 Diners, Drive-ins and Dives episode "From Noodle to Strudel". He and owners Sarah Cai and Arturo Leighton made the Crawfish Dumplings and Big City ramen.

Taiyaki

It's become a tradition for my friends and I to find an Asian food joint when traveling from out of town. As soon as we saw a picture here with Taiyaki, we immediately made plans to visit! Good Fortune is a great local spot that's away from the touristy areas. It has a great vibe and friendly staff, too! Their menu had so many good options to choose from that I honestly had a hard time deciding. I went with the GFC wings and I couldn't get enough of it! And of course, we had to end with what we came for, the Taiyaki (fish-shaped bread with ice cream.) They have rotating flavors and had an apple pie one while we were there. It was foodgasmic, to say the least. I love this place!! I'd absolutely come back in a heartbeat.

This place is amazing. I went in tonight and our server was Sid. We sat on the patio. Sid gave us excellent service, he was really kind and really funny. The music was great and it wasn't too loud. The patio was beautiful, and traditionally decorated. We ordered a rice bowl, pot stickers, edamame, lemonade, and two cocktails. The food tasted so amazing and I really recommend the pork pot stickers. They tasted so good. The edamame was really tasty too. Definitely give this place a try and ask for Sid.

Went to celebrate my 60th birthday at Good Fortune. The restaurant has beautiful murals for the decor. The dishes have an Asian flair which compliments the food. The food was delicious. I ordered the chicken wings and crab dumplings. Both dishes were flavorful and had an awesome sauce and texture. My aunt had the Homemade Pulled Noodle Soup which was spicy but not overly spicy. The noodles were tender and tasted yummy. We also ordered the pork steamed dumplings which were filled with pork and I think some veggies. Those were tasty! Brought my own cake to celebrate. Our waitress was so nice and kind. She was attentive and checked on us frequently. I think her name was Hope. Thanks for great service. I will come again since our visit was so pleasant and the food was extremely delicious. My birthday was one to remember. Glad we came here to celebrate my milestone birthday.

Overall it was a great visit to this restaurant. They have a lot of great vegan or vegetarian options which is a plus. Our server was patient and very attentive. We enjoyed sitting on the patio just make sure they give you a fly swatter to sit on your table because the flies were relentless. Great food and everything was fresh. For the price of the food it compares with the quality of the meal. I will return and try something else.

GFC Wings

I enjoyed everything I had and the customer service was excellent. Even with the busy Friday night crowd, we were consistently updated on our wait time and ultimately given the option to sit at the bar so of course we did! The staff was friendly and our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Here's what I ordered: Last fall I discovered that I absolutely love ramen so I got the TAN TAN NOODS and it was perfect! (This is a vegan dish but it certainly didn't taste like there was no meat in it!) Whenever you can get the special, get the special! I had a BLOOD ORANGE TEQUILA cocktail as part of the month's drink special and I loved that it was just the right amount of sweet. (I actually like to taste my alcohol.) Lastly, I know you see that piece of chicken all by itself. I didn't order it for myself, I was blessed with it. Get the GFC WINGS Trust me on this!

This place caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting of all places Mississippi to be a destination…read morefor Ramen. My confirmation bias says the Memphis area is a barren of good food. Well...I guess I was proven wrong. So I dropped my trailer off at Amazon MEM1, input the coordinates onto my Tractor GPS, and my Garmin 800 rejected the request...."Commercial Truck Restrictions All the way." And what did I do? I said f*ckit. I'm taking that risk. Probably the best Risk Reward experience I've had in ages. Every inch of my route towards this Ramen Pilgrimage was plagued by Traffic Signs reading, "No Semi-Trucks $1000.00 fine." And I just want to thank law enforcement between Memphis & South Haven for not busting me for craving a rich bowl of Tonkotsu delight. So what did I discover here? It was like walking into an enchanted Studio Ghibli scene. The hanging charms, the lush greenery, and lighting complimenting the earth tones, the holy sh*t they have PopCorn Chicken & Milk Tea here @@! Felt like I'm back in Taiwan with this fusion of Japanese & Taiwanese Food Culture. There wasn't even a college town nearby and this added more to my culture shock--- of all places... Mississippi. If you guys are still with me at this point, the Kyuramen x TBar in Southhaven wasn't the first location recommended to me by Yelp; I was actually planning on visiting the location in Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia California, BUT like Rayasianboy likes to quote on his live streams, "Goddid." The planets align, they sent me and my rig to South Haven. Alright not gonna ramble anymore, let me get to the verdict: Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 For a franchise, this place has QA down to the tee. Over the years I've for the majority of the time whenever I'm out of state, would patronize Jinya Ramen--been to their Denver Union Station locations, Chandler Arizona, Salt Lake City, one of the earliest times was in Vegas, and basically their brand set the tone for what a Franchise ramen could be. And yes, I could taste the lengthy hours here at Kyuramen that were put in to slow cook the richness out of the pork bones; the portions were measured just right so you can savor the soup, the noodles **al dente**, the egg silky custard like, the Chasu **melt in your mouth** and not feel overwhelmed with the entire ensemble. The karaage chicken/ Taiwanese pop-corn chicken was exploding with moisture, it had the right characteristics of popcorn chicken, crispy light with tapioca starch layered on the outside, marinated in 5 spices, and fried to perfection with the right tenderness. The tea was excellent, and the Yakitori platter---- executed surprisingly well. And when you put together the entire experience....Shin-Sen-Gumi Alhambra California needs to pick up some slack because this little joint in the middle of nowhere puts some California Izakayas to shame. So yes, I'd recommend anyone across the state of Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, all the Japanese execs at Toyota Plant, Nissan Plant and Yuki Kawamura to come and make their pilgrimage....oh wait Yuki signed with the Chicago Bulls, nvm, but yes everyone besides Yuki. これで終わります Kore de owarimasu じゃあね Jaa ne 改天再會!

The chashu meat is significantly thinner and 2 1/2 inches in width - less 3inches it got so small. I also stop ordering Pork belly Bap because it usually gets overcooked. This location is definitely going down hill for the longest time. I had a great experiences last year. I really don't know what happened. They got really stingy and probably trying to cut cost.

Their jjangmeon is greasy as well and not even authentic to its real taste. I gave it 3 more tries before I realized yeah..this place has gone downhill terribly. I didn't like one of my dishes and i specifically told them what I didn't like about it and they still charged me because the chef said "I made it correctly" and I was very disappointed because a kimchi soup should NEVER taste tomatoe-y EVER. I looked back in the kitchen and saw white folks in the kitchen and knew yeah, no. this establishment has no soul or care. There are better Korean options here in Memphis, after some time this place has lost all its care and soul. We saw a few tables exit and how would she even know if no one is hosting the stand? She literally had her back to everything. We felt trapped as 15, 20, 30, 45 minutes went by. After an hour we were finally seated. It was that horrible experience of not knowing if we should leave or if we had already invested so much time, surely we would be the next person called? I wish the hostess would've told the truth about the wait. It was only after patrons that came in behind us started to rightfully become upset, suddenly there was a host of people at the stand and tables were getting cleared. After an hour, we were finally seated in the very back of the restaurant and it took another 5 to 7 minutes before someone came over and acknowledged us. The salad bar area where you can make your sauce was missing half of the ingredients and absolutely no attempts were being made to refill the station. Items were left off of our order and we had to ask for them to be brought out. Saw a lot of employees standing around on their phones behind the salad bar station near the bathrooms in the kitchen. There are now far too many AYCE Korean/ Asian BBQ/ hotpot areas in Memphis to go back to a place with bad service and low quality food experiences. We used to proudly bring our out of town friends and family to try this dining experience- but would be too embarrassed to bring them now.
