It does not matter how good the quality of the product is if the delivery process is an absolute mess and there is no customer service. First time ordering through Good Eggs, many months ago, the delivery tracker said they'd be arriving in 10 minutes. Then 5 minutes. Then it said 5 minutes for the next 2 hours. And the truck didn't move from a location a few blocks away. I called, I texted, I emailed. The customer service is an absolute ineffective joke. Turns out the driver pulled into the Safeway parking lot a couple blocks away and took a nap. I kid you not. Afternoon ruined waiting for an order that ended up being 2-3 hours late. The second time ordering (didn't want to based on the first experience), the delivery tracker once again stated the driver would be arriving in 20 minutes, then 15 minutes, then 10 minutes.....and then it said 10 minutes for the next two hours. I called, I texted, I emailed. Same dismal and ineffective customer service. Turns out the driver hadn't even left the warehouse. What exactly was the live tracker tracking? The third time ordering (wasn't my choice this time), and the same thing happened as the previous time. Delivery tracker said delivery due in 20 minutes, which would have been 3:45. Then 10 minutes, then 8 minutes....I thought it would happen! But I noticed that while the time was ticking down, the location of the van showed it still at their warehouse in Bayview. Once again, I called, I texted, I emailed. Barely a response. When they finally did respond, they said the order would be delivered over 30 minutes past the end of their delivery window at 6:30 pm. It's sad to say that we have never had an order fulfilled without some kind of issue due to lack of inventory management, poor packer judgement and/or quality control. The latest delivery was missing items (but we were still charged for them), and included produce riddled with black mold, broken eggs, and meat that was packaged back in July 2019 (for a March 2020 delivery). It's appalling that the inventory includes such expired items way past food safety guidelines AND the packer did not possess any kind of sense that a gray-brown package of raw meat is absolutely not acceptable to add to an order. Thus far we tried only a few of their own brands, such as the sausages (the lamb merguez esp. good; others just OK). Our only complaint is in the incredibly small, stingy portion of their homemade mustard ($4 for what is approx. equal to 2 pumps from Top Dog's mustard bar). I've heard good things about Good Eggs, and finally decided to give it a try. Overall it's a good experience, except for the box of groceries I got. First I realized I got one bottle of kombucha when I ordered one case, I contacted the nice CX people. Then I find out the Napa cabbage in my meal kit is replaced with a regular cabbage, and I was never notified about it. I'm Chinese, messing with my Napa cabbage is messing with me, but fine, I contacted the niece CX people again. And now I just opened my favorite Straus yogurt which expires in a month, and the yogurt is clearly bad. Last straw. Missing items, incorrect items, bad packaging, frozen items delivered at what I imagine was the temp of the delivery vehicle's heater (they forgot the ice packs). Add to this that their customer support is seriously lacking, they've moved into the "not worth the time or money" category for me. They do have a great selection of products, so if you do try them, don't go planning a menu around what you ordered. We love Good Eggs. My summer favorite is the Ratatouille meal kit. It's so simple to cut up some veggies to roast We make it with poached eggs, add the goat cheese and basil. Wonderful summer dish. There are lots of interesting meal kits including a zucchini pasta bake. I continue to love getting Clover milk. It's handy to be able to order some tasty unique premade food like pupusas (just microwave) and tasty ravioli (just boil). I love these for different lunch options. read more

And each time it only gets worse - I throw away more of the order than I consume. Expired meat, liquified popsicles, cut fruit with mold, milk with chunks and today it was a cracked container of beef (placed underneath a watermelon no less) and thrown onto my doorstep with a loud thud. 11/2023 update: I have now been using Good Eggs after a long while. Mostly everything is good. Small but important thing: when they pack my cold things with ice packs, despite my repeated pleas, ice packs are only placed on top of my cold items, not around my cold items. Unfortunately, less than a year after signing up for GoodEggs, I've canceled my membership. The produce is still great, Customer Service still stands behind their products and is responsive but delivery has gone downhill completely. Beginning in May and around the time they added tipping as an option, delivery went from on time, within your delivery window, friendly and competent to a driver arriving 3 1/2 hours before my delivery window and telling me "I had a delivery over there, I don't have time to come all the way back here!" My following delivery, the entire box bottomed out and food spilt everywhere because they didnt take the ice packs. The next delivery was again outside the delivery window, even though CS was made aware of the issue the last time. The third time my order arrived outside the delivery window, the driver was also wearing an Amazon vest and ignored me when I asked him to take the ice packs. It has been over a year with Good Eggs - many ups and downs to say the least. I cannot justify getting behind this service any more. They claim to be 'pro-employee'...but what about pro-customer? In the past year they have rolled out $9 (per order) in additional charges, without a single announcement or explanation directly to customers. It is really hard to justify paying more cost per unit of groceries (Bi-rite has cheaper prices...) for B-grade produce, a limited selection unless you order Sunday or Monday, and now $9 in fees because they can't figure out how to pay employees correctly (try raising some more $$ lol). There are too many good options for grocery delivery in SF (and Bay Area). I highly suggest you look at these before looking at Good Eggs - at least when they try to fleece you for added fees, they are transparent and forthcoming about it. Our most recent order is an absolute disaster. Not only was it late, they just didn't give us the other dozen eggs. But check out the pics of the dozen they did give us....all smashed under everything else in the box. But that's not it! The rest of the items in that box were trashed. I've been using Good Eggs for a few months and it has slowly but steadily become my go-to delivery service. First, I like having the ability to shop items from local stores and producers. Some of my favorite items are the ravioli from the pasta shop, pizza from the italian dough factory, and the pretzels from firebrand. Especially while staying home, it feels extra special to be able to add these items to my order. Second, if you are brushing up on your quarantine cooking skills, they almost always have whatever specialty ingredient I need. Whether it's something basic like buttermilk and heavy cream for a baking experiment, or saffron for that paella attempt, they have it. Third, their delivery team is ALWAYS super nice. Fourth, it's easier to submit orders closer to when you actually need them. No ordering a week or more in advance! And I can add to my order up until the morning of my deliver day if I need something else. There have been some hiccups from time to time. Yes, we got caught up in the Thanksgiving snafu. That was a huge bummer, and even worse, I felt terrible it meant my delivery person worked on a holiday. However, we still used Good Eggs for Christmas and there were no issues, so I think they learned from this operationally. Also, most of my orders have had 1 or two things that are either missing or a substituted item. I don't have substitutions allowed on my account, but little things like the wrong flavor cupcake get through sometimes. Similar to others, we had a terrible experience with Good Eggs for Thanksgiving 2020. Order arrived 24 hours late and was missing 50% of items. Delivery was scheduled from 1-5pm on 11/25. At 4:30pm I got a txt that order packing was taking longer than expected but that it would be delivered that day. Credit card has been charged for full order amount. We stayed up late because we worried the order would be stolen off our porch or perishables would go bad, if left unattended. Next communication was at 11/26 at 12:35am, moving delivery window until 9am-1pm on 11/26 (Thanksgiving). By this time, social media is exploding with others having Good Eggs issues. We seriously question whether anything will show up but decide to go to bed instead of going on a middle of the night grocery run. Then got a txt at 8:50am saying the delivery window was 11:20-11:30am. Seems oddly specific given their issues, but okay. 11:30 rolls around with no groceries, more social media outcry, and zero updates from Good Eggs. I contact them to cancel the order, zero response, of course. My husband heads to the store and is able to pick up at least some of what we need. We finally start prepping our meal around 1pm (6 hours later than planned). At 1:30pm a bewildered contract driver drops off our order. He has no clue what's going on, has also had zero communication from the company. We go back and forth on accepting it. The driver says that if we don't accept it he has no idea if we'll get a refund, so we keep it. We open the boxes and it is about 50% of what we ordered, a very random mix of stuff, nothing that you could use to make anything. For example we'd ordered a Brussels sprouts and wild mushroom recipe kit that had 5 different ingredients. We got 1 ingredient and the recipe card. Ice packs in our order were melted. Dairy and meat products were warm. The worst part was the terrible communication from Good Eggs from start to finish. An order I had placed for today was delivered with no rutabagas (key and hard to find) items that are part of a Burns Night dinner I have planned with my immediate family tonight. This company is a mess. They make the most simple things overly complicated, from the site structure for items / availability to selection. For example, they sell certain items, but you won't know that until it's "time" to show it on the site for that day (or day of the week), so unless you happen to know this timing, you won't even know it's something you can get, or when you would check in to try and get it. WTF is that?!?!?! On top of that, they have no mechanism for communicating specific needs between the providers and the customer, so even if you could get something specific with the provider, GE just forces you into the "generic bucket of (x)" option, even when it's not necessary. Today, i saw one that did not stop for a crossing pedestrian in a residential area and drove around them in the direction they were walking in while ignoring stop signs. I like the fact that they carry a lot of products from local food companies and they have some nice meal kits that help when my brain is too tired for meal planning. I myself and I'm sure a lot of others recommended the service, so much so that the company sometimes seems to have a hard time keeping up even with the best of intensions. I have a number of them but would say that my biggest disappointment as of late is it appears there is little investment in the customer service team. ( a lovely nice team when you get a chance to speak to them) I think a lot of people would love to fill the gap here and join their team and yet it's impossible to reach customer service when there is a real issue or an issue that once was easily resolved by CS catching the driver a few blocks away to drop off the box they'd forgotten. I was disappointed in the delivery I received. First off, I was not a new customer but I hadn't ordered in a while. I had very good experiences before when I ordered (2016 & 2017). I clicked yes, and the b X-ray evening I received a different meal kit than the one I originally put in my cart. A complete bait and switch. I have to echo the sentiments others have shared lately; I have been a loyal Good Eggs customer for the past couple of years and even though it wasn't always perfect, they were quick to correct their errors if they delivered the wrong item or if something was missing from the order. During this pandemic I noticed that it was difficult to order anything at all since most items were unavailable or there weren't any delivery times open. I waited a few weeks until I was finally able to put an order in; I was surprised that they not only raised their standard delivery fee but they tacked on a peak service fee as well. Nonetheless I was willing to overlook that so I could get some of my favorite items that aren't available locally. However, twice now they failed to deliver several of the items I had eagerly been anticipating and they even sent one wrong item. They did send an email to say that they refunded me for the items that weren't being delivered but in a way I feel like it's false advertising to lure customers to buy things that ultimately aren't going to be available. Like they say, you can tell the good ones by how they react in bad times. Good Eggs left their loyal customers in the lurch when a wave of Virus driven new customers appeared. I've been a customer for over 3 years. There have been good times, most of the time, when like utilities and the internet, groceries arrived as expected, without issue. There have been odd times, some of which benefitted me, like when I received a case of mangoes I didn't order, and got to keep it without having to pay for it. Amazing how many people do not like mangoes, even when offered to them free (like all of my neighbors, most of my friends). Fortunately, I like mangoes, although a case is a bit much. Of course there were the strange times. Like when GE rounded out a by-the-pound sale of avocados exactly by delivering an avocado so small it was essentially a pit, a slather of flesh, and a rind. Really folks? Not the way it works. And then there was the Used Cilantro. Oh I don't make this stuff up. Three holiday season ago. I ordered cilantro, what I got was used cilantro. Presumably from the GE Kitchens but one can only hope... You know what I'm talking about: Someone had clipped the leafy greenery away at the top, put the rest back into the reefer where it continued to grow, to where the stems then stood above the remaining leaves, which had yellowed. Yep, faded, used cilantro. How does this happen? They refunded my money of course. And then there were the unanswered questions. No roasts available over Christmas? A generally dwindling supply of meat---one or two cuts per category as they moved to Oakland? Fruit that molds before the end of the week? This stuff isn't cheap, it shouldn't go bad this quickly, and it certainly doesn't taste so fresh that one would think it was at its peak when delivered. Where are they sourcing produce these days? So now we have the Virus and the mounting economic devastation caused by a total lack of leadership, both from this White House, where the fault begins and ends, and in Albany and Sacramento, through which the fault passes in an endless loop. Establishment Democrats who thought it would be a good gamble to wait for leadership from a White House long proven incapable of it. Just like when the Democrats abandoned working class people, making Trump possible, Good Eggs abandoned its loyal customers when the going got tough in favor of easy new money. Refunds are sometimes necessary, things happen. I prefer action over credits/freebies; fix the problem, don't try to buy me off. But in the end it's the little gestures that count the most. Had Good Eggs thought to reach out to its regular customers and at least ask us if we wanted to cement our regular delivery days for the time being, Until It's Over, that gesture would have wiped away all the lingering resentments and irritations. You remembered me! You reached out! Awwwww... But no. "Eff You" Said GE. "We got money flowin' through the door like flood water in Houston." I do hope that one of the lingering changes created by this pandemic is a new market for grocery delivery such that customers have real choice in providers, good providers with good products and proper wages, when it's all over. We've overlooked the countless weeks of missing ingredients, the not-so-fresh anymore produce, the mealier meats. And now, to top it all, we can't even count on receiving the food we ordered?? Looking at other recent reviews I can see I'm not alone. And yes. I know about the new fulfillment center and all it's problems. A question though.. why open a new fulfillment center if it can't do what it's supposed to do. Honestly? I hope you can get it together and live up to the potential you had when we first became a customer. We just may not be there when and if that happens. read more
