I have given Good Eggs 3 chances and at this point, that might be it for me. First time I ordered, the $25 credit was not added to my basket so I had to call to get it applied. With the same order, my original delivery window was scheduled between 2pm-4pm - it got delivered at 5:35pm - this, to me, is unacceptable. I called up Good Eggs to express my frustration and was granted a $10 credit. Fine. Second delivery was much smoother which is why I ordered from them a third time. Third (and maybe final order), when I unpacked my delivery, I noticed one of the boxes was banged up and ripped by the handles, almost as though it had been dropped or something. Well, when I opened it, the container of Parmesan cheese (which is a critical ingredient of a pasta meal kit I ordered) had exploded in the box and created a giant mess on my kitchen which I had just cleaned the day before. I sent pictures to the auto text I received asking me to rate the service, and also left a message asking someone to please call me back to explain why and how this would have happened. As of now, no one has called me back. It's unfortunate because they have great items, albeit quite expensive, but it's a great idea to support local businesses etc. but they need to get their delivery operations in order, especially when you pay $4.99 for delivery. Additionally, they should do away with most of the packaging....waaay too much packaging, and for what? To have parm explode in the box??? Something to consider. read more

I've recently started to use Good Eggs to get Tartine Bread (since I live in the East Bay). As I perused their market, I realized how many of my favorite brands and farms that they source from. I ended up getting a few batters and pre-made doughs which were all delicious. I also love the fact that almost everything comes from a Bay Area Farm/Bakery/company. This last time I got some produce - during the winter, it's nice to get produce you can't necessarily get from your neighborhood store. Plus, delivery is free once you pay over 60 bucks. Customer service is also fantastic - once they gave me the wrong bread and they immediately refunded me everything within a 30 minutes of my email. I have yet to try their dinner kits and lunch kits but I look forward to it! I highly recommend trying out the service if you live in the Bay! read more

This is a great grocery delivery service. 1) excellent products 2) no delivery problems for me in San Jose 3) convenience 4) minimal use of packaging I had a couple issues though 1) the driver didn't take the boxes back one time 2) the cooked cajun trout from their kitchen was partly raw. I have been a regular customer of Good Eggs for a while now, but after yesterday's experience, I am not inspired to continue. I ordered three boxes worth of groceries, food and flowers for a party that day. The delivery window was between 10am and 12pm, plenty of time before my party began at 3pm. In anticipation of my delivery by noon, I put out the three boxes from my last delivery so the driver could grab them after he dropped off my delivery. At around 12pm, the groceries arrived, but the driver left quickly and didn't bother to take the three empty boxes. When I brought in the three new boxes and began to unload them, I realized I had be given someone else's grocery order. I called right away because I really needed the groceries and flowers I had ordered, and the party was beginning in a few hours. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone was not helpful. He said he would try to reach the driver to redeliver my order, but that this wouldn't happen until after 6pm, far too late for needs. He said a manager would call me back in 5 minutes, but no one ever called me. After I made tow more calls to Good Eggs customer service, I found no one to help me. All they offered was to cancel my order. At 3:00pm, another driver came to get the delivery they had mistakenly dropped with me, but he did not have my order. It was total chaos. Good Eggs is a service company. They don't sell anything I can't buy another way. What they sell is convenience. If they can't deliver what I order - on time and in good shape, I don't see a reason to use them. It was far more stressful to race to the store last minute to get the things that were supposed to be delivered hours before. read more

It occurred on a Friday afternoon in the area of Pine/Larkin. We are not sure what prompted the assault but he physically assaulted by husband. Our go-to for super fresh organic produce. It's like each blueberry was hand curated...never a bad plum, peach or nectarine. Many times it's the only place with Oatley oak milk and the Straus yogurts, Firebrand breads, and GE Kitchen prepared salads, snacks and soups: yum!! I'd not used the unreliable Good Eggs for over a year, but I still couldn't escape. Today a Good Eggs driver mis-delivered a bunch of groceries and flowers at my door, I saw them as I was leaving and immediately contacted the company to have Good Eggs pick everything up and deliver them to the proper address. Oddly, my address appears clearly at the end of my driveway and on the wall, inches above where the driver left everything. Still, mistakes happen and I'd hoped everything would be taken away by the time I returned home hours later. It wasn't, and so I re-contacted Good Eggs, who told me it was MY FAULT the groceries hadn't been retrieved, that the driver couldn't access my house because of a locked gate. Except I have no gate, obviously no one had attempted pick up the groceries, and the driver or the Good Eggs rep was lying. So I sent a third email, without response, and now it's many hours later and the groceries and flowers remain where they were originally left. And I'm reminded why I stopped using these guys in the first place. The raccoons are going to have a feast tonight! So one star from me, five stars from the raccoons. An update: After multiple promises to pick up the mis-delivered groceries and flowers from my property, including that the driver would circle right back, and that a relief driver would pick up the boxes in "20-25 minutes," nearly 24 hours later, everything remains on my property. Good Eggs is fine for items that aren't necessary - but don't depend on them for groceries you need. We placed a large order to be delivered the day before thanksgiving between 10am - 2pm. I had received so many marketing emails assuring me that I could count on them for our thanksgiving groceries. Our delivery came at 8pm and 5 out of 25 items were missing. I received no warning that items would be out of stock. I was not refunded for the $40 in missing groceries. I'm thankful that we did not depend on Good Eggs for our turkey this year - which we strongly considered. In the end, our cooking plans were turned upside down as we were missing key items. So apparently their 2020 Thanksgiving FAIL is widespread. Since we've all learned to let go of a lot of things this year I guess I'll have to let go of my planned Thanksgiving meal just as I did the whole family aspect of the day. I was trying to make the best of it but Good Eggs f'd it up. I read others' reviews where their deliveries were hours late but the response I got (if you can call a canned email a "response") is downright ridiculous. I ordered 2 wks ago for a 5-9pm delivery today. At 7p I got an email saying my delivery would be between midnight-8am. That's almost hilarious. I live in a building where they'd have to use a callbox to be buzzed in. So is it better to be woken at 3am or have the boxes sit outside in this land of porch pirates? It's 1am as I write this and no ETA. They also will only be delivering items deemed critical for the holiday so about half my order will be missing. What kind of planning & logistics do they have in place (or not) for this holiday fiasco to happen?? It's like a flight that was overbooked by 300%. They also should have prioritized deliveries based on when the orders were placed. I tried to plan super early but now, ironically, it is way too late for me to salvage the dinner. I've been a customer for a couple years now, but this is probably the last straw. UPDATE: At 2:48am the morning of Thanksgiving they sent me an email saying my order had been canceled. "Betrayed" seems like an overly dramatic word to use in the context of grocery delivery, but it's what I feel right now. At around 3:30am I was able to place an order with Amazon Fresh for delivery today (but no Blackjet pie, obviously)... for all its faults Amazon still comes through for the save. I've used Good Eggs for almost 3 years. While generally I like their produce, recently I found out that their meat can be delivered frozen. While I have no problem with frozen meat, apparently they feel that it's ok to deliver meat that's been frozen for up to 1 year as "fresh". So, I REALLY like grocery shopping. I like it better than any other shopping (shoe shopping, clothing shopping, furniture shopping, window shopping, you get my drift). So, after moving to San Francisco, a city where your time evaporates I now feel like shopping is a treat- especially the Ferry Building Famers Market on Saturdays. Anyways, let's get back on track. I like to pick my produce by hand, smell it, squeeze it, and admire it. I don't really trust anyone else to pick for me, really. But Good Eggs takes care of you, they have the best and deliver the best. Good Eggs is a mid week (or any day of the week, really) savior. One of my most favorite items are "smoothie bananas". Bananas that are pretty ripe but not the classic grocery store yellow. I love this! Perfect for banana bread- no need to wait a week for them to ripen. AND in a small way, I feel like I'm saving bananas that would otherwise be thrown out. #bananawins Everything is great quality, super fresh, unbeatable free delivery, wide range of just everything. You can even throw in some chips and ice cream, because 1. why wouldn't you? and 2. they have it! Their website is beautiful and easy to use. I also really like their packaging. Cute cards with recipe suggestions, grocery list notepad, a kind note thanking you for using their service. Lots of small touches that the grocery store checkout person doesn't offer you. Many many thanks to Felicia for delivering within the delivery window during this national emergency and for saving me the trouble of going down to the lobby and repacking the two boxes into bags I can manage. (I'm somewhat disabled and don't carry much weight up three flights of stairs). I didn't have the experience of recent Yelpers who say their orders contained spoilt food, etc.; everything was there and looks very good. I'd give them a negative 5 stars if I could... placed an order for our Thanksgiving dinner that was scheduled for delivery yesterday afternoon between 1-5 pm. A little after 5 pm my order had not arrived so I reached out via email and at 7:52 pm got a text that my order would probably not arrive until close to midnight! Then received a text a few minutes later at 7:59 pm that my new ETA was between 11:10-11:20 pm due to 'significant delays at our fulfillment center' from the Good Eggs 'Community Care' Team. Order finally arrived at 11:15 pm ish and the turkey that was supposed to be kept frozen was completely thawed and soggy. Horrible service and lack of care for the product. I was hoping that after receiving a few dozen mailers and other forms of marketing that Good Eggs would be my new go-to food delivery system. Sadly, it seems they spend more on marketing than on fulfillment and customer service (a poor business model!) so I will not be ordering from them ever again and am warning friends, family and colleagues about what I now call Bad Eggs. read more

We had two experiences with this delivery service, both extremely sub-par. The first time, the driver was friendly enough but arrived well after the scheduled time. When he did arrive, he discovered that he gave one of our boxes to his previous delivery address. He then asked us to wait downstairs (we live in an apartment complex) while he went back to the previous address to exchange the boxes. This additional process took an extra 30 minutes. The second time, the driver again arrived after the provided window. He called us from inside our building asking us to come down and grab our boxes. Why he couldn't take the elevators up to our apartment, I don't know, but no big deal, we can meet him downstairs. After the two minutes it took for us to get to the complex's lobby, and before he handed over our boxes, we received a lecture about timeliness. Apparently, we weren't fast enough getting down from our apartment for him to comply with his delivery schedule. We explained that we came down from our apartment as quickly as possible and that he could just have easily come up if he was in such a hurry. He responded curtly that we needed to have a better plan in place for next time. On top of the rudeness of the second driver, there were erroneous items in the boxes we received. We used Good Eggs' customer service, first through the phone (there was no answer after 10 rings, not even a hold line) and then through email. A day later, we received a reply offering a credit for the incorrect items. While the dollar amount of the credit was appropriate to the erroneous items, we will not be using it. The quality of the food itself is fine (roughly equivalent to Whole Foods), but it's just not worth the cost of dealing with the poor service that Good Eggs provides. read more

I've been using Good Eggs since 2012 and I have to say that I used to love and rave about it but in recent times, let's say in the the past year, I've had numerous disappointments with them. They range from the quality of produce (oranges the size of golf balls, lemons delivered hard, i.e. they are just plain old, to brown salad). I have had several occasions where I had to throw out the produce straightaway because they were just not good. Or I would order soup or stews and when those packages thawed there must have been a hole in them because they would leak all over my fridge. I used to call them and they told me that they would credit me though I do not recall seeing the transaction posted on my card and others I just couldn't be bothered anymore because you know the saying, "multiple paper cuts create more pain than a simple cut"? Then we went through a phase of anxiety of returning the cold packaging to avoid being charged $4.99 but the good ol' driver wouldn't ring our doorbell but just rather drop our order by our front door and that was that. You can imagine the number of irate phone calls that followed those incidents. Nowadays, I seldom use Good Eggs anymore, there used to be a time I couldn't wait to order goodies from them and rave to all my friends about them. But they do have certain things that I cannot find elsewhere so I do end up using GE. Case in point I recently ordered a bunch of Fleur de Lyon pies (very delish BTW) but on the day of delivery apparently they weren't available and I was not informed ahead of time. So now I will have to order them AGAIN but may have to pay the delivery fee because my order will be small - see what I mean about a paper cut? Not to mention the numerous transactions of debiting and crediting my card... And the team was nice enough to give me bunch of flowers but the driver must have been mighty rough with them because when they got to me they looked flowers fit for Morticia Adams. So, in summary Good Eggs, they're too far down the road to call these teething problems, I do not know what we should call these paper cuts. But it's so painful at this point, I grit my teeth and bear it just to get some favorites from them - so it's really credit to the supplier not the service. If the supplier has another way for me to buy their goods, I would. Anything for no more paper cuts. read more

My first order came in 2 REALLY heavy boxes (what can I say, I went a little overboard when I saw all the delicious food), and the man delivering it carried it up the flight of stairs to my apartment for me. From the complimentary dark chocolate bar for first-time customers, to the ability to return the boxes/bags the next time you have an order delivered, to the suggested recipes each week on the site, I've loved all of the well-thought out extra touches. I first discovered these guys through a Facebook ad. It is the first time Facebook influenced me. With various life situations grocery shopping has become very difficult even though we are next door to the finest markets. The reason I am writing this is because I am terrified they'll stop serving our area. PLEASE...if you are in the Palo Alto, Los Altos area...order! Try them. When I first saw their prices I was uncertain if I wanted to buy much and didn't really expect to. Now, I order twice a week...every week! We have completely stopped eating out...which we actually did quite a bit. I can't even eat out because I am thinking of what I am spending and what I could be buying from Good Eggs. Personally, I have NEVER seen the food quality they provide. I have shopped at some of our best markets and it just isn't the same. Plus, nobody but the suppliers are touching anything, unlike the many fingers touching things at the market. People in our area seem to love to fondle food at the market and poke nails into fresh produce (which I find completely disgusting). We are now eating things and trying things we never would have even thought about in the past. Their fish and seafood is OUT of this world. We don't eat much meat and I am very happy to be able to buy it by the ounce like this. I am able to buy exactly what I want and as I want it. Tonight, we had fresh Scallops and Nettle noodles. It was the best scallops I have ever eaten in my life and the noodles were amazing. There food is truly OFF the charts good. You cannot find this quality at any of our local, open, fresh markets. In some cases you can get close, but it takes time we don't have. They also have terrific fruit and hydroponic vegetables that are really awesome. I now LOVE hydroponics! Such a wonderful taste. Their dairy and breads are also the best. I have shopped at our best bakeries and they don't compare. This is also like the best diet ever because we now eat superb quality and nothing is thrown out or put away for another day. We have also reduced quantity for the quality. Before Good Eggs...it was all junk. Almost everything they sell is local and it is all organic. Some of the fish can come from further away (Alaska etc), but they rush it to us fresh. I was uncertain how they would manage the fresh produce, but they do a great job. Their packaging is really worth some of the extra they charge on items. I save all of it too. I have a stack of gorgeous boxes, ice packs and insulated envelops. Having home delivery has also made an enormous difference in our lives. It helps incredibly when it comes to planning around work and doctors and various things that keep us running. Again, PLEASE try them. Despite what people might say, nobody matches their quality. There is nothing like it out there. It is like having an assistant that makes your life a lot easier. Even items from the same producers I have bought from other suppliers are not as fresh. They appear to pick out the absolute best. I really hope they are wonderfully successful. If I move I really hope I can stay in their delivery zone. I am writing this revue because our dinner was so good tonight I had a moment of anxiety that if we don't promote this amazing service...it could end...and I would be heart broken. read more

I am sorry to have to update this review. Like other reviewers, I can say that a year ago they were quite good, but things have gotten worse and worse. The quality of the food is often poor (smashed or underripe produce), inconsistent delivery times, and frequent screw-ups with the content of the delivery boxes. This week I got less than half the items in my order delivered, instead getting stuff from someone else's order. So not only do I have to go to the store, but yesterday my husband and I both ended up having to eat out because they didn't bring the important stuff for me to make dinner with. Their customer service is also very slow now (they ALWAYS have a "busy day"), and the supervisors refused to just refund or replace the entire order, forcing me to go through and itemize and reorder. On TOP of that, I can also say that ever since they added the $4 "good jobs fee", the service plummeted. It's too bad because they had a good selection of food. I was very impressed with their customer service so I thought I'd give them a second chance. My second experience was exactly the same. Good egg sent me sausage that was one month past its freeze by date. The convince is not worth the added expense or the past expiration dates for me to use them again. thanks for explaining the difference between a freeze by and expiration date. The first time you sent me expired cream this time you sent me really old sausage. GE seems to be a way for food companies to get rid of old food. (Fyi frozen on and freeze by are different Annie. Freeze by means use it by that date or freeze it. It is not the date it was frozen on. If you would like I could post a picture of the same sausage for purchase at Whole Foods. Buyer BeWare! I went to use a $50 gift card online for a $44 purchase at Good Eggs. They insisted on getting a credit card number or else they wouldn't honor the gift card. (A little bit of a scam to get your credit card information.) After calling them to inquire why they needed the credit card information for a gift card transaction, they promised they wouldn't use the credit card. I love pretty much everything that there is to love about Good Eggs. All of the food is fresh, delivered on time free of charge, organic, and local. The produce is always extremely fresh and it looks like something I would pick myself at the market. When I have ordered from CSA's in the past, it's never been as fresh as my order from Good Eggs. I've been shopping more frequently lately and I continue to be impressed after each delivery! Good Eggs has a large selection of season produce, sustainable dairy and animal protein, breads, desserts, prepared meals, nut butters, granola, olive oil, you name it. They recently began carrying even more items and I'm excited to see them grow in the near future. Some of my favorite purveyers are Bread SRSLY, Josey Baker Bread, Old Dog Ranch, Milkman SF, Nana Joe's, and I've ordered produce from a variety of farms and everything is always excellent. If I could buy everything from Good Eggs I would. There are still some items that I have to purchase at the store, but I prefer to support a sustainable business model like Good Eggs. In Marin there is a $30 limit on deliveries, so I'm not sure if it's the same in the city? I was told in the past that there was no minimum, but either way I will support them. Also, keep in mind that the delivers do not accept tips. I think it's great that the company pays their deliverers fair wages, so they don't need tips. Some other delivery services I've used charge for delivery plus tip, so it ends up costing a lot more than you initially expected. I really love Good Eggs. I highly recommend that you give them a try! I can almost guarantee you will be impressed and continue to order from them on a regular basis. Would give zero stars if I could. I'd ordered pies from Three Babes Bakeshop through Good Eggs, and had the same poor Thanksgiving experience as many other folks did. Missed delivery window, poor communication/transparency about new ETA, and unresponsive/MIA customer servicing. Zero responses via text, email, and social media. Got tired of this circus and tried to cancel my order only to have the delivery person still show up.. a full day later. As of this writing, no refund in sight. One of my numerous emails finally received a response today, and I was asked to complete a google form if I'd been impacted by Thanksgiving delivery. Uhm, shouldn't you know who was affected? Thankfully, I was able to get pies directly from Three Babes in time for Thanksgiving dinner. I really hope this fine pie company considers severing ties with Good Eggs. Bad Eggs. I ordered a Thanksgiving meal a week in advance. They not only failed to deliver the meal, they sent a pathetic email at 1 AM Thanksgiving morning to inform me, "my order had been canceled," followed by an absurd email wishing me a "Happy Thanksgiving." Bad Eggs is clearly way over its head; they are disorganized and, worst, dishonest. They are the worst. read more

Service was great, the greens were good, but the "Organic Juicing Box" https://www.goodeggs.com/sfbay/officebox/organic-juicing-box/5390d8e29a49170200001765 Was not a good deal. Did look nothing like the picture. Contained NO strawberries nor any berry substitutes, just the oranges, lemons, mint, celery & roots...& the beets were old, they were a bit mushy when they brought them in. I think I could have gotten it better & cheaper at Rainbow groceries. This was just a trial order. I m looking for a good csa for fruits, but I don't think I 'll order again from here. read more

+ Fresh, quality, local produce + Cute website design + Attentive customer service - Poor execution (late deliveries, doesn't follow delivery instructions, buggy website) - Expensive - Product photos/descriptions are occasionally misleading (but usually pretty good) I really, really wanted to like them, fresh, quality, farm-to-home groceries would be a great. Tried 2 deliveries and Good Eggs is just not as good as it could be. My first delivery was delayed by a couple of hours, left on the side of the apartment complex with no notification that it had arrived (despite online instructions saying to buzz and call), had items that did not match their descriptions (e.g. super young sunflowers that did not start blooming until 2 weeks later, as opposed to the image showing fully-bloomed flowers), and left out the gift message entirely. My second delivery went smoothly (they even included a complementary chocolate bar), but the website was broken at the time I placed the order, so the order had to placed manually by their customer service. Adjusting the time slot of the delivery also resulted in the site throwing an error. The produce on the site is typically double what you'd find in Whole Foods, which is a premium I'm willing to pay for the convenience of farm-to-home groceries, but their execution leaves a lot to be desired. I desperately want to recommend Good Eggs to friends, but have been finding myself always adding disclaimers when I do so. I have high hopes for them to iron out their kinks and become the game-changing service they can be! read more
