As we come to the end of our full home remodel we are finding that what worked before doesn't necessarily work now especially with regard to some of our framed artwork. We had a framer where we used to live but being relatively new to Ventura we went looking for someone new. We wanted a family owned small business which is what we like to support and we found Gonzalez Framing. The owner Yolanda is wonderful as is her entire staff. I have used Gonzalez Framing in Ventura for two artwork framing projects since 2022, one project being 10+ pieces, and could not be more pleased with their work. Yolanda and team are true professionals, and know how to treat the customer right. They are friendly and courteous, and always upfront about cost and time, so there are no surprises at the end. Yolanda has always taken the time to work with me to find just the right mat and frame combination. She'll make suggestions or recommendations if I am not sure, helps me work through the decision process, and never makes me feel like a moron if I have a crazy or weird idea about a mat color or frame combination. The shop's workmanship is impeccable and I always use them to get the best archival, museum-quality materials. I even had them re-frame a bunch of sub-par framing jobs on old pictures from years ago, now they are better than before and much more secure on the wall. They are not the cheapest you can go, but you can rest assured that your pictures will endure for years to come, and be as protected as possible from the effects of time. I was referred to this business by colleagues of mine after passing the bar exam. I was looking for a special frame that would be a good fit for both my home and office. They had many different sizes, styles and types of frames for me to choose from at various price points, and friendly to all budgets. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and her daughter, who by the way, drive more than AN HOUR to get to work everyday!! They were incredibly friendly and made me feel very comfortable, as if family. They did everything possible to help me decide what frame I wanted/needed and explained to me the different options in glass, frame materials, size of matting, etc. The framing took about a week and that is only because I chose a frame that was not in stock, but they were speedy in ordering the materials needed to get the diploma ready as soon as possible. Found this framing store on Yelp and felt confident trusting/supporting this local family owned business with something very important to us due to their great reviews, however I completely regret trusting this business to frame our canvas art. We have a signed canvas art piece we brought it into Gonzales framing, agreed on a price of $250 (just for the stretching & basic frame around the piece-no glass no backing) and trusted them to take care of our special art piece which is irreplaceable. It took two weeks to have our art framed and ready and when my partner when to pick up the piece, he immediately noticed the huge scratch in the center of it that clearly happened while our art was at Gonzales framing. When he brought this up the employee made up every possible excuse besides taking accountability for it and blamed everything else but themselves for the scratch. They 100% damaged our art piece and refused to acknowledge that it was of their doing, and there was no prior contact besides letting us know it was ready. It's obvious that Gonzales framing has very little experience with canvas. When my partner mentioned the scratch, the lady helping him tried wiping the scratch with tissue paper which further damaged the canvas and removed the shine in that area, which is right in the center. When we brought it home we noticed multiple other small scratches and the canvas totally creasing at the bottom of the piece. I would not even trust this business to repair the creasing at the bottom if they had offered. I've attached pictures of before we dropped it off with no damage and then pictures of all the damage they did to our art piece. Please DO NOT bring your canvas pieces to this business and seek out a canvas professional. I would hate for others to be completely heartbroken by an inexperienced company ruining an irreplaceable and very special item like they did to us. read more

I brought in a deep display case that was falling apart and I wanted to completely replace. I talked to the shop owner about what I wanted and the size I needed. She gave me a price quote and it was very reasonable, somewhat cheaper than what I'd found online and of course since I live near Oxnard I wouldn't have to deal with shipping. I wasn't in a rush so the shadow-box display case took about 2 weeks to make (I think I could have had it done in a week if I'd needed to, but they did have to special order some of the materials).
