The hunt for exquisite Boba continues, we've set the bar high. And why is that? When you've tried boba at a place where the line is always at least 20 people long and open for only 8 hours a day, show me a place better than Omomo in Irvine CA. Love it or hate it, tell me the next time you've had a luxurious steak or an almost perfect Cortada , could you settle for less ? Now that I got you riled up, let's go check out Gong Cha. I'm a fan of any boba spot that has stepped up from that processed powdery stuff almost 20 years ago to actual BREWED TEA. It's another form of art and if you get the flavor profiles just right, your tastebuds will let you know immediately. Starting with the name , I researched that Gong Cha "is the act of offering tea to the Emperor in ancient China as a tribute". After reading this , how can you NOT be excited. With over 1600 locations world wide , no wonder they've been successful with their formulations. I have tried their Earl Grey with and without the add-ons (herbal jelly , boba , pudding) and it tastes great. With the add-ons in the 3 Js it opens up the flavor profile . Herbal jelly isn't for everyone; it's a great product with documented health properties but again, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it should be knocked down. If you're new to the world of boba tea, this is a trial and error. I've tried a good amount of flavors and over-all, they all taste amazing. Anywhere you go, if there's a Gong Cha , there will be satisfaction in every cup. And No , I wasn't paid to say that, it sounded pretty good though.

Quwaha House is better for sure and much better priced. The counter person lacks customer service. I asked for brown sugar and they pointed to a holder with only splenda. I initially tried them on a sleepy Monday morning when they first opened for the day and it was quiet, laid-back, and relaxed. The owners were there and incredibly friendly. I decided to try the pistachio latte (iced) with almond milk. This is the best latte I have ever had! The foam is real deal cold foam and the coffee is so flavorful. I paired it with a French toast muffin and it was incredibly fresh. I also tried my partner's Biscoff latte and it was delicious without being too sweet. We recently came back in the afternoon with some friends and it was packed! Line was almost out the door but it does move fast. I had the cardamom latte this time. It was good but not nearly as flavorful as the pistachio. I also tried the chicken empanada which was delicious but WAY overpriced at $8! My partner tried the honeycomb and said it was also very good but also very expensive. Plenty of parking in the back if you can't find a spot in the front. Line moves fast. Plenty of seating but can be a bit loud at times. I wish they could lower the prices but since they are technically a chain I think they're locked in.

Since they didn't have the sandwiches I wanted, I only ended up getting a cookie. When I asked about them, the associate simply said, 'This is all we have available,' and pointed at the display. French workshop desserts taste the same to me, as if they all have the same base: the cookies, the tarts, muffins etc... but it's a good place to sit, enjoy a tea with something to munch on. The lemon tart was quiet nice. It was a good balance of tart, sour and sweet. I like the marshmallow fluff that was toasted on top of it. The raspberry madeline was a sweet butter cookie, crunchy on the edges with some parts being soft. It was okay. We also got tea.
