Three people in front of me left because she did not attempt to greet them or take their order or even say give me a few minutes to complete the other orders. Gong Cha is my favorite bubble tea chain. So imagine my excitement when I found out that one is opening in my neighborhood. In my opinion, the teas they use is what sets them apart from other bubble tea places. Even after the tea is mixed with milk, ice, and other things, the aroma of their teas still come through in a very distinct way. And that's why I find their bubble teas just a cut above the rest. Other than their bubble teas, I also love their milk foam teas. They're on the lighter side when compared to the bubble teas, and probably slightly healthier. read more

Hi Allen K. Nice photo you chose. You seem upset and quite passive aggressive. Your prices are posted and I'm ok with it if the product is good. Yours is not. So you stating the price is reflective of your products, lol. No. Your tapioca isn't fresh and your drinks not even cold. Flavor profiles are weak and your shop is not clean. Your employees are in sweatpants and sweatshirts and come to take orders between scrolling on their phones. Stop yourself. Humble yourself. If you read my review before angrily slamming your fingers on your phone you'd have seen I said the smell had to be something they were eating. You're so angry and grabbing at straws. It's sad. Unfortunate for you. This takeout bubble tea shop is fortunate to be in this affluent area with little alternatives. I am sure it will still be rather short lived. My partner and I stopped in on a Wednesday night because their sign caught our eye. I was really excited to try a different bubble tea place as we entered the small location. The menu was a bit overwhelming, but we figured out what we wanted to order pretty quickly. We both selected fruity bubble teas and waited in the compact area on the side for our orders. We received the drinks in a reasonable amount of time. Plunging my straw into my lemon tea, I was immediately met with a chunk of something hard. I thought the pearls had gone bad, but when I took out the offending item, it was what appeared to be a hard, gummy-like piece of dried fruit. This pretty much ruined the drink for me, as I've never had fruit pieces in my bubble tea and I didn't know it would be included. Perhaps I would have liked my drink more if I had known to ask for this to not be included, but I was definitely not a fan. read more

They have a huge bottle of sanitizer by the pickup window. When one of my kids used it, it squirted into the other kid's eye. It must be years old because it got a gross stringy substance all over the kids' hands. After getting bubble tea here many times, I don't think they standardize what light ice, extra bubbles, or 50% sugar means. It's really hit or miss depending on who makes it. I find that half the time I pay for extra bubbles, they forget to add extra bubbles and many times it seems like I get a few extra bubbles only- it almost never reaches the lines they have on the cup. We loved Gong Cha (this one in Closter) and we ordered from them almost every time we order from Doordash since this place is a delivery add on. Tonight we cancelled our order and will never order from them again due to their customer service. Tonight we ordered our regular items which usually come to over $50. The toppings (like pudding and more boba) are extra which we have no problem paying for of course. As soon as we placed our order, the man at Gong Cha called my husband and said that he cannot give us any toppings even though we paid for it on the Doordash app. For example, I ordered the grapefruit aiyu with peach star jelly (which is extra cost). The man said he can't give us any of those toppings because it shows as a comment on their end. We have no idea what that means and we don't care, we paid for additional toppings. He was going to give us bare drinks without any of the extra toppings we paid for, and he refused to try to resolve the issue with us. He was just going to take the extra money we paid for the additional toppings but not give it to us! The extra additions to the drinks aren't cheap. The staff at Gong Cha pretty much tried to take our money. read more

Very bad customer service. I ordered a mango drink which I always get (I have never ordered a strawberry) and was given the same drink but strawberry. When I asked for a mango one politely, the employee argued with me saying that I said strawberry, despite the fact that i said mango (my friend heard me say mango as well). The women was extremely rude when we were nothing but nice and the customer service was terrible. I hope this women faces consequences for her behavior and i won't be tipping them any time soon. So happy this location opened. It's a little closer and just across the street from one of my favorite restaurants (Mami Eatery). If you've been to other Gong Cha locations, the menu is the same. If you haven't, try it out! My go-to flavor is black milk tea, but I've enjoyed everything else I've tried from them, too. Recently got my wisdom teeth removed so I couldn't have tapioca pearls like usual :( but the black milk tea tastes delicious on its own anyways! This location is pretty small. Especially with social distancing, only one group can fit inside (maybe 4 people?) There was no one ahead of me so my order was made very quickly and I was only in the store for a few minutes. I hope this place does well so they stay open and I can have my bbt fix from a closer spot - so please support them hehe. cute tiny place, street parking. since it was my first time, i got caught off guard with the how much sugar percentage question for my mango slush with pearls. 30% was more than enough, had flavor and not that powdered flavor like other places and not too sweet. like one of the other reviews mentioned the whole store was wet, floors had that thin layer of wetness like it was raining outside and everyone's shoes were wet, which it definitely wasn't. glass and doors all were wet, it was weird cause it wasn't too cold outside and it wasn't humid inside either. however with that said, i will definitely come back to try other flavors. read more

I enjoy Gong Cha very much. I've been here before several times and had no problem with my drinks. These days, the boba has a metal-like aftertaste. I also ordered a Milk Tea with 70% percent sugar and when receiving the drink and tasting, I was dissatisfied with what I've consumed. Overall, the service is very nice and kind. I go to gong cha all the time and I've never had a poor experience. Today April 15th at 11:21 the lady working here mixed up my friends order. she ordered a mango milk slush and i heard her order. The lady finished making our drink and she made a strawberry yogurt slush. My friend nicely said I'm pretty sure i ordered the mango. And the lady responded saying "no you said strawberry". my friend not wanting to cause trouble went quiet but i said to the lady I'm 100% sure she ordered mango is there any way we can get the mango instead. And the woman said in a rude tone "I'm 100% sure she ordered strawberry" then refused to serve us. I have never seen worse custom service. Insisting that she was right when we both saw what she ordered. It was upsetting and took me aback. I hope gong cha can hire better staff. read more

Every staff I came across seemed really frustrated and unhappy for whatever reason, I always felt bad leaving gongcha and the last time I went just did it for me, I'm so done with this place. This one worker had my waiting when my drinks were already done. Literally just sitting there bagged and all, so I asked if those were my drinks she said "wait" you know the kind of WAIT you say to your dog?, I mean all she had to do was ring me up and I can take my drinks that takes what like 30 seconds??, she continued to take phone calls and making drinks while I just stood there. I felt like I was on a time-out because I did something wrong, like I wasn't supposed to have asked her if those drinks were mine, you know just wait until she's done with everything she has to do and gives me the ok you can speak now gesture. I waited a bit but just can't help thinking why can't she just ring me up? why am I still here?? why am I just standing here when my drinks are ready?? and there's no one else here??
