Checked out the new location today and as always was not disappointed. The location is a little weird. Hopefully the neighborhood grows around it. As far as the good, I've always been a turtle kind of girl but I decided to order one of the tacos just to try it out and I was not disappointed at all. I almost like them better then the turtle as it doesn't have the rice and just the goodies. Also get the Baja. It's the perfect balance of acid from the pickled onion and creaminess of the cheese. One of my if not my favorite place to grab a bite. It improves on the over-the-rhine location by the addition of a dinning room. I recommend the turtle as it's it signiture and impressively delicious. Staff is very friendly and I think that's why I love this place so much. My delightful sisters got Gomez for me after my bachelorette party. So FUCKING good! The next morning (even with a bangin' hangover) I jumped out of bed to go devour my leftovers. My husband and I stopped here on a Saturday night. It was pretty crowded but we didn't wait more than a couple of minutes for a table. I had a turtle with all my favorite ingredients. It was amazing, great portion size for the price. You order at the front and take a number for your table. There is a small bar with a nice local craft selection on draft. I wouldn't call it a place I would sit and hang out all evening but definitely good for dinner and a beer with friends. I will be back, they have some stiff competition in town but they are definitely holding their own, glad to see they expanded from their OTR location. read more

Having heard about the OTR Gomez for I was excited to see this spot open up in Walnut Hills near where I work. On my first visit it has lived up to the hype. The location is easy access (though a bit tricky to find if you don't already know where it is) and the simple menu and speedy service makes for a quick lunch. The menu is on the wall as you walk in and easy to navigate, pick a dish, the protein and the style and you're ready to go. If you'd like a drink you move to the bar and order there. I was not found of having to pay twice, for food and then drinks. It made the process a bit more cumbersome than it needed to be but I guess they have their reasons. The bar is wells stocked and they have a some nice beers on draft- I did think the beer seemed around a dollar higher than normal. For lunch I chose the Turtle, which is like a Mexican calzone. I ordered the tofu version and found it to be both delicious and filling for price. I also ordered chips and salsa, but it ended up being more food than I needed. The interior is pretty cool with lovely tin ceiling. The place has good business so seating was tight. I was afraid we'd have to stand but something opened up. I do hope in nice weather they have some sort of patio. I definitely recommend the place. I will be back. read more

Had Gomez for the very first time and loved it!! Had no idea what to get but it turned out fantastic!!

It's pretty good, but more like a really good version of the big burrito chains than an authentic taqueria. Prices were fairly close to a lot of the casual burrito chains, but the quality of ingredients and care with which they were prepared are miles beyond. Basically, I'd recommend this as a much better alternative to most Mexican chains, but if you're looking for a traditional taqueria this really isn't it. read more

Popped in to check it out. So impressed. My husband and I ordered with ease from their clear menu. Opens a food/bar tab and sat downstairs in the bar area. Noticed a great patio and upstairs dining room great for large or small groups. Across from new video archive hotspot too. Haven't gone wrong with the turtle and it's great not to huddle over my food in the cold in an alley....even tho it was worth it every time. Great progression, solid ingredients, and even their well liquor is top notch. Their sangria and margs are great and they seem to keep them updated seasonally just like their beers (great local tap selection plus some. Bottles too. Our server/bar tender was so inviting and friendly he's a big part of why we know we'd love to come back. Such a good neighborhood spot for visitors too. Another tasty place in a gentrifying neighborhood. I stopped in around 11 which was the perfect time. I had read online that the "turtle" was the way to go so that's what I ordered. It reminded me of a burrito but in a Taco Bell Crunchrap tortilla. It ended up being really good. It was a little hard to tell how much meat was in the burrito since it was in the "turtle". I'm not usually big on rice in burritos, but I thought it fit in really well, and helped soak up some of the sauce. The only downside was that towards the end it starts to get a little soggy from the juices. By the time I left the line was out the door, so if you're coming for lunch I'd definitely recommend getting there early. read more

This is a monthly must! I used to go on bar nights and now I find myself sneaking down once a month because I have a craving! The turtle is a staple in my household and everywhere I go! It's like he Taco Bell Crunchwrap on crack!!! I love the convenience of the walk up window! The lines be mad long but they get people in and out in a timely manner. With the turtle you get all of your bang for your buck. I can usually do half and have a whole meal for later! Maybe my expectations were just too high, but Gomez didn't seem that great to me. It would probably taste amazing coming from a food truck in OTR at 2 am, but for a sit down restaurant it's nothing special. The rice wasn't very good, and everything else was just okay. I had the Gomez turtle, and my wife had the Southwestern barbarcoca bowl. We both felt a little sick afterwards--not food poisoning or anything, just really bloated and full. The service was really good. Everyone was really nice. The beer selection looked good. read more

I have had the pleasure of ordering both carry out and seat in, and the customer service is fantastic both ways. I've tried the bowl the first time with the pineapple salsa, and I was not impressed. The salsa was too spicy to my liking and I guess I'm so used to the oversized bowls from Chipotle. I decided to shoot for the south western turtle with the Gomez salsa instead of verde salsa and it was almost LOVE at first sight, but for my taste buds! The serving size of the turtle could probably be for two people. I always eat half then and take the other half to lunch the next day. On top of the delicious turtle (pockets full of goodness), the queso dip is EVERYTHING.. I'm going to repeat the QUESO DIP IS EVERYTHING! Everyone has to try the queso dip! I really like the selection. Choose style of what you want, select your meat (many choices or vegetarian), and flavoring - this is where all of the extras are added, seasoning, beans, etc. The portion size was just right for me.
