Food is great but the number of times a month they shut off online ordering mid-meal time is absolutely frustrating. I used to live in Cincy, now in Cleveland and I dream of this place its so good! Every time I am back in Cincy I try to make Gomez a stop! This is truly a gem in Walnut Hills, and if you were to drive by it you wouldn't think much, as it is a small place, but once you realize how delicious this place is, one look and you'll be craving a turtle for weeks! Since this place is so small, it gets busy fast and it is really hard to find a place to sit and eat as it is on a first come, first serve basis. You order at the front and wait for your food to be ready. If there is a table open, RUN to it! I ordered the Southwest style turtle with barbacoa and my friend ordered the Gomez style turtle with chicken. Both had amazing flavor to them, but both so different at the same time! The sauce was sooooooo yummy, it brings the whole dish together! We also got a side of their new Elote dip, which (by no surprise) is also delicious!! It is a lot of food so you can either eat it all at once, or save the other half for later. I can't control myself around yummy food, so we did in fact eat every crumb!! There were 4 of us, and the wait was short. The Peach Margarita was good. The Turtle (sans onions), which was the special currently - was really good. I had heard a LOT about this place. I ordered three of the baha tacos which I was pleasantly surprise by having pineapple in them. It gave it a nice tropical feel and was tasty! This was another awesome place my cousins took me when I was visiting Cincinnati. We had just completed an Adventurous walk across the city and took in so many fun sites. We were craving Mexican so everyone recommended this location. I had a tasty house margarita that was very fresh and not made with that one mix that is chemically and hurts my stomach. To eat I had, what I'll call the ultimate crunch wrap supreme, I loved being able to try a version that was tad bigger and had fresh ingredients with just the right amount of spice. The Strawberry marg was good, definitely sweet and easy to drink. The one knock I have is that I asked for no cheese and still got it on the inside of the Turtle. I've reviewed the Gomez Salsa OTR walk-up window before, but now that they have a location closer to home, we have enjoyed their food more often. Their Walnut Hills location features a full dining area and bar. The menu is unchanged though, turtles, tacos, burritos, and bowls. Orders are placed at the counter, and food is prepared just a fast as it is in OTR. The dining room has plenty of seats, plus a bar with plenty of draft beer choices and cocktails. For me, there is nothing better on the menu than a turtle, aka the Turtle Shell. They take a burrito sized tortilla, stuff it with all the goodies - rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, salsa, meat, veggies, cheese, or anything else you'd like - then we seal it all up with an extra cheesy, tostada crunch! They offer 5 styles to choose from, my favorite is the southwestern (rice, black beans, fajitas, spicy crema, corn salsa, Verde salsa, lettuce, and cheese) with chicken. The tacos aren't huge, so if you're hungry, I would definitely order some chips and salsa or something like that. We were there for a while, and the staff came up several times to see if we needed anything (it wasn't busy) so that was nice! The only thing I really didn't like about is it was so hot in there. I don't need to say that Gomez Salsa is good, we all know that. And that is why, even when there was a huge queue out the door, I stood and waited for the food. This location is obviously bigger than the window in OTR. There are drinks and seats too. Parking could be tight during peak times, but there's plenty street parking in the street across. The location is sketch, and that's the biggest turn-off to this eatery. I got the 3 taco plate with chicken, and my friend got their special Ninja turtle. The food was served in probably 5 minutes. We also tried the Strawberry Margaritas. At $8, I expected a lil more alcohol than plain ice, but it was good. The tacos were good. However, the spice was very diluted than the same ones I've had earlier. The turtle was absolutely good though. Gomez is a safe place to try Mexican food in Cincinnati. We ordered online and food was ready on time, which was a huge plus. It appears as though there were a few tables, right in front of the host stand, that are available for dine in. But, I don't think the restaurant is fully operational at this time. We took our grub up to the park up the road a piece. It was an absolutely gorgeous, sun soaked afternoon. We sat in the shade, at a picnic table, watching dope dealers handle business and enjoyed our lunch. The turtle shell itself is amazing and I wish I came up with this idea. Cheese grilled on top of the tortilla and I am all about it. I may need to try to replicate this at home. However, the flavors were just meh. Carnitas were very bland and lacked any seasoning at all. I paid $40 for fish tacos for 2; that was nothing but flavorless fried tiny little fish sticks laid inside of Mission flour tortillas, with iceberg lettuce, corn, and Kroger brand cheese on top. Literally someone's home project they tried out one night for the kids. The guac was $5 for a tiny cup smaller than the cup of dressing you get at chipotle with a salad bowl. The chips were flavorless. Chipotle has better. Literally everything was flavorless except my Sprite and my guac. Then to make the pricing worse, there's a 15% gratuity automatically added to all dine in orders, where you then pay the bill and are asked to tip MORE. AGAIN. I understand the price is to be reflective of their competitors- such as Nada downtown in Cincy. However, Nada is an upscale dining aesthetic with INCREDIBLE food and atmosphere! Gomez is an expensive waaaay less tasty Taco Bell that'll make you wish you went to Taco Bell after you leave. $40 plus tip down the toilet...where their tacos should be. read more
