I had a problem with by Bag Boy golf cart: the break lever on the handle broke setting the brake (on one wheel) permanently. I could not get the break disengaged - this may be a design flaw with the Bag Boy cart. This resulted in my having to drag or hold up the cart on its front wheels for three holes to get back to the club house. (I was having a good round so quitting was not an option!!) Since I purchased the cart at Golfdom on 15 August 2011 and the break lever broke on 1 September 2011 I decided to take it back to Golfdom (even thought the literature that came with the Bag Boy said that in the event of problems with the Bag Boy to contact the Bag Boy Company and not the local merchant where the Bag Boy was bought???) The folks at Golfdom were absolutely great. I described the problem and before I could even get to the "what the heck are you guys going to do about it" part of my pitch, they asked if I wanted a replacement Bag Boy or get another bag cart altogether? Straight swap. They said if I took a new Bag Boy and the same thing happened - just bring it back for another swap. Customer Service Rating from me is 10 on 5 point scale. They were absolutely great in my opinion. Golfdom will be my first stop any time I have a golf need. Well done!!!! read more

Terrible customer service. More of a clubhouse than a store trying to sell product and help customers. Guys in the repair shop are too busy telling stories about their drunken events the night before to help a customer. If you aren't willing to spend $500 the old man doesn't have time for you. I have been a long time good customer of this store. I have golfed my entire life and always make several trips per year to this store where I spend hundreds and hundreds each trip. They must be hard up for money because I bought a skirt, had second thoughts about it, went to return it (with the tags still on it). They had it in their system that I paid $90 for the skort, and when I returned it, they told me they could only return it for the sale price. I asked to speak to the manager and he refused to give me the full price. I then called back and said that there's no reason you cannot exchange it for full price (as I was buying more clothes) and he said no. You just lost a very good customer, Golfdom. I will be taking my business elsewhere and telling all of my friends not to shop here as well. read more

Golfdom has a great selection and a large inventory of golf products. It's like the Nordstrom's of golf shops. The salespeople know their stuff and won't push anything on you. When I first started playing, a salesman helped me pick out a 3 wood and steered me towards one of the cheaper ones ($150) instead of pushing a one of the bigger names. It is a little more expensive than the other shops in the area though. read more

I was never asked if I needed help while an employee hit balls on the simulator for the whole 30 min I was there. Recently I purchased a new set of clubs - irons, hybrids and driver - from Golfdom. I had toyed around with replacing my existing clubs, which I acquired in 2007, but was hesitant based on some cautionary tales I had read online about the quality of sales practices engaged in by a number of vendors. Finally, though, I decided to stick my big toe in the water, so to speak, and visit Golfdom. Its reviews were mostly good, though some were less than complimentary. I first called, on a Thursday, however, to get a name of someone with whom I could meet. The person answering the phone was Russell. (Later I read some very positive reviews of him online.) We established a time that I would come in the following week (Monday). There was no pressure brought to bear; he just asked what I was interested in. That Saturday, on an impulse, I drove over (I live in Maryland, and so it was a 40+ minute drive) to get a sense of what the store was like and who Russell was. I was impressed by the store's environment. I was introduced to Russell. I was struck by the fact that he didn't immediately go into a "sell mode." Instead he just shook hands with me and confirmed that he would, indeed, be in on Monday at 11:00. I told him I just wanted to browse around, to which he said "fine." And that was that. Perhaps another person asked if I needed help as my wife and I wandered around the store, but there was no hovering or pushiness. That was a big plus for me. On Monday we connected as arranged. I discussed what I was looking for. He asked what brands I was thinking about. In response to what I said, and what types of clubs I was looking for, he chose the necessary clubs of those brands (7 iron, 3 hybrid and 4 hybrid, driver and we proceeded to the testing area. I don't remember how much time we spent, but it was considerable. I was not rushed as I kept going back and forth between clubs. What I was most struck about was the following. Russell suggested that there was a good chance, based on the newer technology and better quality (compared to my existing clubs), I would get greater length (maybe 10 yards/club) with the newer clubs. He proceeded to compare the distances I was generating with my existing iron and the newer one. However, there was no appreciable difference. Russell confessed to being perplexed by this. (This was not the case with my driver and hybrids, where there was an improvement.) Instead of trying to reassure me that eventually I would achieve greater distance with the irons, i.e., try to push the clubs on me, he said I might consider holding off on buying the irons at this point and, if desired, just purchase the driver and hybrids if I indeed wanted them. I was grateful for that suggestion. Eventually I decided I would purchase the irons, and after some use on the range and a couple of rounds of golf, I am hitting them further. I just needed to get acclimated. He also did not push me to replace my current sand or gap wedges. Nor did he ask if I wanted to buy anything else. In short, he honored my initial explanation of what I was looking for. All the subsequent actions - ordering the clubs, following up with their shipping, communicating with me - have been exemplary. That has included Dan, who I believe is a store manager. I am greatly impressed by the professionalism, courtesy, expertise and quality of communication exhibited throughout this process. Even though I have to drive quite a distance through DC-area Beltway traffic to get there, I will make all my future golf-related purchases through Golfdom. How often to you walk into a store and the salesperson focuses on meeting your needs/wants rather than his/hers. I recently bought my first set of clubs and knew the range and quality I wanted. The set of clubs I thought might be best for me were not in stock at Golfdom and would not be for 13 weeks. I had just saw them at another store. Instead of trying to push me to an alternative set, Russell confirmed my opinion and said I should go back to the other store and get the set I saw while it was still there. Purchased a set of used starter clubs here. Later discovered paid the same price they sold it as brand new. Not exactly ethical. Prices here have been a bit higher or same as competitors. Not as many deals and discount sales as major competitors. The store looks nice and is tucked away behind a major highway. Service is okay, generally experienced sales persons. Not a go to place but worth checking out as they have a different product selection. read more

I've shopped at the Tyson's Golfdom for a while now, and they have a great selection. This review is specific to something that happened today (4/18/2018). I had bought a TaylorMade Spider Tour Black putter a few months ago and one of the removable/adjustable weights became stuck. I took it to Golfdom to see if they could repair it or have it replaced through TaylorMade. Dan was very nice and extremely helpful. Within probably 10 minutes, he had contacted TM, and said they were going to replace my putter. He said they had some in stock there, and they would be able to cut to the length I had my putter at, put the grip on, etc. All free of charge under warranty. He handled this very quickly and was very detailed. He was even able to remove the grip that I was using on my putter to use on the replacement, and said that if it wasn't working as it was on the previous putter to bring it in and he would replace it. Talk about awesome customer service. I can't recommend highly enough Dan at Tyson's Golfdom. I plan to go through him specifically every chance I get at this location. I have to admit that I previously shopped Washington Golf for discounted clubs but now that they are out of business, I have turned to Golfdom with very good results. I'm normally an Internet purchaser because of the better prices but I go to the "brick and mortar" stores to play with the merchandise before purchasing. I ended up winning a hybrid club on ebay that I had been looking for and it was listed by Golfdom! Its nice to be able to also purchase from Golfdom via ebay and just wait for the email that tells me that its ready for pickup. read more

I'm not one to write reviews but had to write one for John. Went in on a whim to check things out and asked about recommendation for beginner golfer. John gave me some info but then recommended I bring in my clubs so he could see my swing to offer better advice. Grabbed them from the car and started swinging away in one of the bays. Right away John gave me pointers on my swing and told me I needed a different set to what he told me earlier. He brought in a few recommendations and ultimately settled on a set which clearly showed better performance on many metrics as well as feel. The whole time John was explaining everything to me which gave me greater understanding of everything that goes into finding the right fit. It's rare to find that customer service these days so felt the least I could do is write a well deserved positive review. If you are in the market and want knowledgeable expertise and advise without the pressure to buy go see John at Golfdom. I use to buy a lot of stuff from this place. I live nearby and have always give them business. They have a price match policy and would not be undersold. I told them I wanted a certain club and if they were willing to match and they said yes. I go inside and ask a man named Russell and he said "hell no that's not even cost when I know they buy it for way cheaper". I called golf galaxy and they were with no hesitation willing to match. After I inquired about buying new clubs and asked a staff member where I should start, he told me it didn't matter because "women only buy golf clubs based on what the bag looks like"! An excellent place to test and buy clubs, clothing, bags, and all the other game paraphernalia. The store is elegantly appointed to look more like a fine club house, as opposed to the big box look of most golf supply houses. This encourages a more relaxed shopping experience. Over the years I've been shopping there, the staff has been excellent. My favorite is Russell, just because he is, well, Russell, a one man dynamo. The senior guys who work there are courteous and helpful to a fault, and there is one woman who has always given me great advice on shoes. The young guys stay behind the register, which is probably a good thing since they don't appear to have the experience or polish of the floor staff. To appreciate this shop, one really needs only shop it's competition to realize how much better a job they do. read more

I had a fabulous experience with the customer service at Golfdom. I went to Golfsmith to do a club fitting. The 16 year old working there on the club fitting machine was nice, but did not seem to understand what he was doing. He gave me a club that was very short and had a very shallow lie angle. I had trouble hitting it and considered it a wasted trip. I was ready to go home frustrated, but I followed the advice of a friend and went to Golfdom across the street. Though I had been to Golfdom a few times before, I fully expected to be disappointed. I got personal attention from a guy named Russell. Using the Mizuno fitting kit, Russell assembled a club that was proper height and lie angle for my swing type and made sure I was properly fitted. Golfsmith had exactly the same Mizuno club fitting kit that Golfdom had, but Russell was much more helpful putting it together for me and making sure I had a proper fitting. Golfdom's rewards program allowed me to get 25% back on the cost of my clubs as in store credit. Dont get me wrong, Golfsmith is a lovely store, but do yourself a favor and check out Golfdom before you make any big purchases. Russell will take excellent care of you. It actually makes me mad that Golfsmith would pick this spot to open a store. read more
