Since I was a little early and there was junior classes going on , I was told to take a seat until my time started. The seating area had full view of the facilities , water available and a TV where a golf tournament was on. For the ten minutes I was seated , I was watching Steve WenPetren coach the junior class that was going on . He seemed very engaged with each of the kids during practice and seemed supportive while also providing advice. Now onto my lesson. It was undoubtedly 100% the best hour I have ever spent on my golf swing ever. We used the TrackMan to measure swing characteristics and swing data . Within minutes , Kelly had me hitting straighter , further and more consistent with my pitching wedge, all backed up by hard data/numbers. We moved onto putting , pitching , driving and full iron shots , all within the hour. He helped me engage parts of my body to help my golf swing that not only looked better on camera but I can see with the swing data myself. I was also given some tips to take to the range and putting green to improve my game outside of lessons. I was semi-doubtful of how much I could change in an hour, but I was proved wrong and I will be back in the future. 4 stars for a solid Virginia golf spot…read more As somebody who lives in Arlington and used to live in the District, trying to find spots that satisfy all my golf practice needs isn't easy. You have places like East Potomac that have a driving range and both 9 hole and 18 hole courses, but they are all often packed. You have smaller 9-hole courses like Jefferson District Golf Course or some of the Maryland public courses, but many of them either don't have a driving range or are pretty far to reach for someone in my area. You could play 18 holes, but that is really only a weekend activity for most working people since you either have to be up at 5am or be willing to go at least 4 hours for a round. Plus, playing 18 isn't really practice (especially for the prices involved). All of this is to say that the Virginia Golf Center, located near the intersection of Clifton and Braddock Rd, is a spot that can satisfy a lot of my golf practice needs. The biggest need is for a Toptracer, which is a tracking system that gives you information on things like distance during your driving range experience. The only other spots even remotely nearby with a Toptracer are either places for fittings or Topgolf or equivalent venues. At Virginia Golf Center, I can just pay something like $10 for an hour with a Toptracer and work on my game. It would be great if could use grass rather than the mats, but that just seems to be the case with most public driving ranges in the area and it isn't easy to find other ranges that are open all the way until 10pm and can regrip your clubs for a few bucks while you are out on the range. If you are looking for more than just a driving range, this spot also has a 9 hole par 3 course. While the course is pretty basic, the fact that you can pretty much just walk up and play anytime is pretty great for anyone looking to work on their short game. For just a few bucks, you can get in a quick 9 in a little over an hour. Overall, Virginia Golf Center is a great spot for Northern Virginia/DC people who want to work on their game without spending tons of their time and/or money.

My friend hit his ball into the mud by the water and so many leeches were everywhere. The mowers were going as we were playing and constantly had to pause to let them finish an area as well as let others pass because the mowers slowed us down a little. overall fun, just REMEBER BUG SPRAY and stay away from all the stagnant water which is all over the course.

After some research, I thought @GolfHouse would be a great first experience for him since they offer junior coaching and it's similar to a video game. When I emailed them with questions, they were the most quick and complete in response than any of the other Ashburn area courses. At this point we're 3 sessions in. Coach Ju Hee is very professional and confident, but has just the right style to keep my 10 year old engaged. In each session she has walked the line effectively between correcting swing issues and helping him understand how the game works, while also keeping it fun and engaging for him, which is probably the most important part at this point. The sessions involved 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time in the bay which I'll sometimes use to take a few swings with my son. So far, this seems to be the right mix. Coach also shared the before/after swing photo I posted from session 2. While I'm not sure if other local coaches have this type of tech, I think this is a significant advantage because of the real-time feedback and insight it gives her into exactly what is happening. It's also great for us to see the progress he's making. Overall, I definitely would recommend @GolfHouse and Coach Ju Hee for lessons. At some point I'll probably book a bay with some of my friends who are more serious golfers during a lesson and see what they think about it.

My class had four students including myself, and we learned all the basics - putting, using all the clubs, the different swings, golf course etiquette, and the basics to playing a game. We had enough instruction time, and alone time to practice in our own bays. Not needing clubs was a plus, as I hadn't committed to getting some at this point. They have disinfected loaners available to you if you need. The golf course/ driving range is nice, the instructor was a great instructor, and the classes were well structured. I'd like to add they're under new ownership, and they impress. I Was greeted by Sam, the pro who I would be working with today. Sam set me up and had me stretch and warm up before starting. Sam didn't waste any time, getting right down to basics, my grip (which was atrocious), my backswing( too short), and my stance. I would love to say in the span of an hour he got me to tour level, but who are we kidding What Sam did was make me feel the most comfortable I've ever been with my swing and grip! If you're looking for less expensive items, they have clearance and pre-owned sections. They had a few sims that I'm almost certain can be reserved online. Most of their items (clothing, shoes, etc) seem to be reasonably priced, customer service was great, and the guys at the front were pretty quick about re-gripping clubs. Great experience, overall!
