Jay was initially great for the first two lessons but soon after he wasn't as engaging as time went on. Just sat in the back looking at his phone, giving comments in between which was not what I expected when I purchased the 10 lesson package. He has a lot of knowledge but I think he's a little jaded or too confident/cocky. Jay's a cool guy but he should keep the interactions with clients a little more professional without having to talk too much about his personal life. Minor chit chat is good but I was starting to get bothered when he's always on IG. dating app etc, showing me pictures between swings rather than giving me hands-on, constructive feedback. People pay to go improve their golf game and aren't that interested in his personal dating life. This was the common theme when I ran into other students of his on the course. (We often notice each other when we do our "unique" grip check). Also if you purchase packages, be careful if you have to reschedule. He counted a rescheduled lesson since it was my 2nd reschedule/less than 24 hours. To be fair it was a sudden cancellation due to life events. While it makes sense to have a cancellation policy, we never even signed a contract therefore I had no way of knowing this. I understand he has to manage his time but to unilaterally state that it counted further strained my experience with him. Other than these complaints, if you catch Jay on a good day or he's interested in you he can definitely teach you a lot of things. I hope Jay takes this critical review as constructive criticism and helps many golfers who can benefit from his unique teaching style. I can't begin to explain how much golfcode360 had helped my swing. Josh is an awesome coach that doesn't just explain what I need to change in my swing, but why it needs to be changed. This has helped me understand what is happening during the golf swing, so that when I'm at the range practicing on my own, I now know how to diagnose what I might or might not have done correctly. The use of multiple cameras and launch monitors is a great visual tool in the process. In just 6 weeks my game has completely changed and I can't wait to see what the next 9 lessons brings. They have different lesson packages to fit different budgets. Worth every penny for someone looking to bring their scores down on the course. read more

Preface: my golfing experience: 0 I found this studio from Yelp and called in because I was hesitant that the golf lessons would be inside a studio vs. being on the range. Jay reassured me that there wouldn't be a difference and it was true. This place offered me exactly what I needed. They were able to guide me on what a golf swing would look like from start to finish. They also provide all the technical details of your swing so you can see why your ball flies to the left or right. If you're lucky enough, you will be matched with my instructor Joey. He is very personable and easy-going and most of the times funny. I didn't feel pressured even when I wasn't good. I was able to swing with all the irons + driver within the first 5 lessons. Of course with all learning, there are no quick fixes and you'll definitely need to practice yourself if you are serious about golf. Overall, the environment is exactly what I was looking for. Let me preface this by saying I RARELY write bad reviews as I don't wish to hurt anyones business but this experience was terrible and I felt the need to write about it. This place is easy enough to find but that's about it. Jay is completely reliant on technology. Ton's of red flags but I'll name the 3 biggest ones from my perspective. 1st red flag: We had a scheduled appointment for a free consultation and we'd been texting throughout the day. When I arrived he said "Are you Paul?" with a huge smile, to which I replied "No I'm Eric, we had an appointment." He frowns dissapointingly and then says "Okay, go warm up." -If you can't even get your appointments name correct when you've been texting them all day, you don't deserve the privilege of coaching another human being. And even if you forget, where's the humility? Nonexistent in this place. 2nd red flag: I'm admittedly turned off at the standoffish nature and the body language he used after but whatever I drove 30 minutes to get here so I'm going to see what he has to say. He has me take 5 warm up before he asks me to get going. He asks me how far I hit my 7 iron, I tell him roughly 165 or so. He has me take 5 shots after that, legit scolds me and implies I'm a liar because I hit 155, 158, 153, 160, and 163. -Dude, I'm not your child and of course I'm not going to hit it my normal distance after sitting in a car for 30 minutes and taking 5 warm up shots. Common sense isn't common practice anymore unfortunately. 3rd red flag: After that, he replays my shot next to a professional and points out body positioning which was the only helpful thing he said the entire time. Before we can even talk about next steps, he asks me what are my golf goals are. I tell him that short term I want to shoot under 80 consistently and long term I'd like to be able to pass the Players Ability Test w/ the PGA and potentially coach but I'm miles away from that. That turned him into a diva immediately saying "well you're just going to take my philosophy and give it away" -Uhh what? Theres 25 million golfers in America and you think a newbie is going to come and take all your business? Talk about scarcity mindset. I was curious about his coaching practice after that so I asked some questions about what he looks for in a coach to imply that it takes more than technology to coach someone. Didn't work however as he incorrectly assumed I was trying to work with him. Lol laughable. Bottom line: Go somewhere else. I can handle mistaking my name because it happens sometimes and and even my shots being lower than what I said because they really were slightly lower. What showed me who he is was the comment about taking his philosophy and giving it away. Coaching is an art, you can have all the ingredients but it doesn't mean you can put it all together for an athlete to understand and repeat. The fact that he's so concerned about it tells me that he's not confident in his own coaching process and is legitimately concerned someone could easily replicate it. No thanks, I'd rather deal with a professional that recognizes their own abilities and knows that it can't be replicated even if they had all the same technology. Good luck to the other coaches there though as I'm sure his opinion doesn't reflect every other coaches view. Any players going here trying to get better, I hope you have a better experience than I did. read more

I purchased semi-private five lessons for my friend's bday gift. The booking process and communication were super easy. Eric was able to find our problems with few swings, he showed us lots of reference videos to fix those. He covered grip, stance, posture, backswing, overswing, wrist, hip rotation, etc. We were able to utilize iron, driver, wedges and putter in 5 lessons. His encouragement was making us more motivated. So glad we found this place! My husband and I just researched various golf coach/lessons available near us (both on Yelp and at different golf ranges) and this place had such great reviews so we decided to give it a try and it was a great decision! I thought I'd be able to pick up golf pretty quickly because I always watched my brother play .. but boy I was wrong HAHA. Josh was my coach (Brea location) and he is a GREAT coach/instructor. I started from the basics and he was so patient with me explaining every step. He had exact answers to all my questions and confusions. This is a review after 5, 1-hour lessons a few months back. Pros: There seems to be a good level of knowledge about golf/swings/etc. Helps you adjust and tweak to get better swing form, body position, etc. using his approach. This was helpful and beneficial in my case. Cons: There's seems to be a lack of engagement on Jay's part. He spent a LOT of time on the phone during lessons, which doesn't seem the best way to run a class. Body language also seems a bit off, with slouching and yawning happening often, which demonstrated to me a lack of genuine interest. On day 1 he said he would follow up with me via text to see how my practice was going and how I was progressing, but that never took place. When I would show up the next week for my lesson, don't think he remembered what we discussed or worked on the week before. Classes did also end a little early. Got the impression a high quantity of students was what was desired and had a negative impact on the overall quality of the class. Overall, there is some good I took away from the classes, but feel they could and should have been so much better. read more

I just finished my 6/10 lessons with Jay here at Golf 360 and I couldn't be more impressed by how he simplifies the swing and the game. I am a rookie when it came to golf. Never took a lesson. Only went to the driving range with my friends and was never able to hit the ball at all. Ok I'm not sure if I should actually review here as I don't want to give up my little secret. Hopefully none of the guys I play with read this. I've been playing golf for 2 years and playing regularly, at least 3x per week at the range or course. I score in the mid 90's and felt I have been stuck where I am. I signed up for a course with Jay and I have to say after my second lesson I'm already seeing a difference into my ball flight and consistency. 4.5 months ago, my 14-year old son decided that he wanted to learn golf and try to play for the high school golf team. Never having really played before, those first few weeks were rough. But Coach Joey was patient and encouraging. Slowly my son developed a swing that was consistent enough to play with. Then we worked on some chipping and putting as well as on-course game management. Finally, the day of reckoning arrived: tryouts for the high school team. 18 holes over two days, only the top 5 scores make the team. My son came in 4th! My brother and I just started getting into golf about a year ago and quickly realized we were in need of some guidance on developing proper fundamentals before too many bad habits were formed. We decided to book a 10 session semi-private lesson package with Joey and he has been phenomenal. He started with our approach and posture, moved onto our ball striking and then the hands and hip rotation all the while, giving just the right amount of feedback. He was careful not to overwhelm us with too many new things at once and made it more of an approachable step-wise progression. Our swings have improved dramatically, he has given us plenty of knowledge that we can take with us, we are more confident and look the part of a golfer that kind of knows what they are doing. Eric was my instructor and my main issues were to be more accurate to the green as well as losing my slice with the driver which was massive. Went online to try and book a swing evaluation and 30 minute lesson, and a promise (per their website) to have an instructor reach out in 48 hours (never did), and never heard back either. What an awesome time at Jay Lim Golf Academy! I had only a little experience with golf, and after the first lesson with Jay, I was able to hit with more consistency and distance. It's actually pretty crazy... his pure impact system is amazing. So glad I found this golf school on Groupon and had a chance to come in for their evaluation deal. After meeting Jay for the first time I immediate purchased a package because it's pure physics and it made sense! And it works! I also had a chance to hit with instructors Stephanie and Brenda... Single digit handicap in 4-5 months? I had my own share of doubts when I first reached out to Jay. I was taking golf lessons from another teaching pro and got into a deep funk. Just kept on hitting my irons to the left. Nice drive, 130yds left, and boom! Shoot to the way left. Kept on repeating. My golf teacher at the moment suggested I slow down my swing. Nothing worked and nothing changed. About three weeks of that, I decided to reach out to Jay. He fixed that issue the first lesson. So I decided to take the lesson from Jay with slight doubt in the back of my mind since the lessons I've taken from other teaching pros haven't really worked. Anyways, long story short, after about three and a half months of lessons, I shot my first single digit round. And still improving. Understanding why my shots are launching left, spinning right, going straight. Having that clear understanding allows me to fix the missed shots right away out on the course. Before going to Max I was really confused about setup and the golf swing and was not improving. Golf Code 360 was recommended to me by a friend who knew someone that had gone there. I went in for the free introductory swing evaluation and was impressed. Max gave me suggestions that immediately improved my ball contact and a setup that made sense and I could repeat. I signed up for my first set of lessons immediately. I was a little hesitant about taking lessons at an indoor facility, however, having the ability to review swings from two angles proved incredibly helpful to improving. Also, I had my doubts about a "biomechanics method" coming from a "feel" type of training but the biomechanics make sense and works. If you get your body in the right position the golf swing is a lot easier. The best compliment I can give came from one of my playing partners. I had taken about three lessons between the last time we played and on about the second hole he says, "Wow you're hitting the ball much better and you look like a real golfer!" I've been to a couple of different instructors, tried online training programs but if you want to improve got to Golf Code 360! read more
