We were in the area grabbing some lunch and had some time to kill, so I figured I'd grab a coffee before we headed to the restaurant. I'd never heard of Goldstruck, but it seemed fairly busy so I figured why not. They had the usual coffee options but I was drawn to the Halva Latte. I'd had something similar a few months earlier so I was intrigued to taste their spin on it. When I ordered, I was asked if I wanted it iced, which somehow didn't even occur to me but which sounded very refreshing, so I said sure. It's an excellent caffeinated beverage. The superb coffee shines through but it's the halva that makes this drink truly special. It's got that distinct flavor of the Middle Eastern dessert, and even boasts noticeable chunks within. I enjoyed this drink very much. I'll definitely be returning. read more

Every time I go here it's a different irritating issue. I'm won't return because they overcharged me. I had a Halva Latte. I was the only person in line, two people were working, it took 15 minutes to get the drink. I saw the guy make a hot chocolate and one other drink before mine. Fine. I never had their signature drink before so tried it. It's very sweet. I think the halva is sesame seed, I asked the barista but couldn't understand him or he didn't know, I should have asked him in French but I was not in the mood. Only as I was leaving I checked my text and saw he charged me $9.31! At first I thought they now add a mandatory tip. After my meeting I came back and read the sign. He overcharged the latte. I was charged $8.24 not $6.99 as stated on the menu. $9.31 for a medium two shot latte is crazy. I will walk a block to Starbucks where there is more variety and it's much cheaper! read more

Ordered a watery, tasteless cold latte. No taste at all. I was expecting something good but not a glass of terrible.

Went here to do some work on my computer on a Monday morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. They got a variety of alternative milk options. This spot has some specialty lattes. I had the halva latte without honey. Because there was no honey I added a little sugar. I think next time I'd order just a regular latte because it wasn't that unique (probably because it needed to be altered). The vibe is super nice for getting some work done. There's low lighting. It's clean. They've got easy access to wifi and lots of tables. read more

Even though I walked so many times in Yorkville area - really didn't see this place until was found on Google maps! While the coffee shop looks stunning with some interior parts that expose corners and edges of actual wall.. the price seems quite a lot for coffee and sweet treats! The customer service was good, not much to say as I didn't get to Interact. The place is quite full and gets busy from what I noticed. There is no natural light except if you are sitting at the front as it's in a basement.. while the theme of this place is quite interesting, there was no coffee shop like atmosphere and it could probably because of the day I chose to go (dark outside) and I think I may try this place again as I am here quite often :) read more

Goldstruck has gone downhill significantly in the last year or two. Their prices are egregious for inconsistent quality, and I've learned to triple-check what they're charging me after they charged me $9 for a small seasonal latte. Once I got angrily yelled at for unintentionally wandering in a few minutes after they closed (though the door was unlocked and there were people inside?) Another time I came in a full 50 minutes before closing time and was told that they have no more drip coffee because they're "closing soon" and that they wont do a pour over because it will take 15 minutes, and they're closing soon. Final straw was when both me and a friend got food poisoning from one of their desserts. The only reason I've gone back up until now is that the ambiance is nice, and it is one of the cozier coffee shops in Yorkville. But, never ever again. I don't know what has changed in the last few years but they need to get their sh*t together. read more

This place is in a great location - trendy Yorkville. Downside is that on the lower level, downs some stairs so not that accessible if you have a stroller or, crutches etc. It's also a bit and really loud - or maybe I just have the misfortune of being there a few times with loud talkers? I don't know. The cookies and butter tarts are good. I'm going to assume it's about the coffee and not about the food. Although I wish there would be more wow factor on the sweets display and sandwiches (turkey and ham on croissants). Had a sandwich and although I asked that it be warmed, it was only slightly warmed on top and not through. They do give you a nice big cup for your tea and at nearly $4 bucks you appreciate it and drink it all! It's a nice alternative to other popular coffee shops and the folks behind the counter are lovely. read more

Came here at 9:30am on a Monday morning; relatively empty. Barista was very friendly, gave me some good recommendations on their signature drinks. I had my mind set on a cappuccino, however, and I had it with caramel flavor shot. Total came to $6.20. Ambience is great inside. The decors are very artsy, kinda rustic, but not pretentious like some hipster cafes. I feel at home here. And the noise level is just right, which means I can read/write in comfort. Came here to get a bit of work done before an appointment in the neighbourhood. At 2pm on a Friday, it was surprisingly busy with all sorts of people: students, shoppers and tourists. Although many of the two seater tables were filled up, at the back there is a communal table that will fit about 6-8 people comfortably. I ordered a flat white and personally, I felt it was too milky. It tasted more like latte - which isn't a bad thing but I was expecting a flat white. The music is not the best as noted by another reviewer, but i generally listen to my own music anyways or I'm too involved in a conversation and forget the music is even there. It does get loud when it is busy. Overall, I think it's a nice place to get work done if you're in the area and you don't mind nose, but I would go somewhere else if I wanted to enjoy a delicious caffeinated beverage. read more

A cute little coffee shop tucked away on Cumberland St in Yorkville. Honestly, everything on Cumberland St is "tucked away"; all the places are small and squished into a small area. That being said, Goldstruck has super low ceilings which may make it seems slightly claustrophobic to some but it's quite a large space. It's quite a "lengthy" coffee shop and you'll see what I mean if you ever visit. I got a flat white and my friend got a cappuccino and we both a cute little heart in our coffees, and they were super cute. The actual coffee itself was delicious. Normally I'm not big on enjoying the bitterness of coffee and I prefer it on the sweeter side but this flat white was delicious as is. It was very smooth and perfect for sipping on a chilly (March) afternoon. There isn't really much to say about a coffee shop. If the coffee is good and the ~ vibes ~ are good then its a good coffee shop. And Goldstruck is a good coffee shop. Next time I'm getting the Vanilla Raf! read more

This cafe wins the award for the most INSUFFERABLE clientele in Toronto. I understand the kinds of people who go to overpriced coffee shops in the middle of a working day but MY GOD. The decor of the place is nice but far from comfortable. I actually hit my head on the lamp hanging down from the ceiling while trying to get out of the tiny chair without bumping into the person sitting behind me. The coffee was sub par and the portion was really small. The pastries are nothing too crazy either. Also the women's bathroom has a sliding wooden door that has visible GAPS between the planks which made me very nervous considering there's people sitting on the other side. I would definitely not recommend this place if you want to work or study as nobody who goes here seems to have a job. read more

Goldstruck Coffee is one of the cutest cafes in Yorkville. It's close to the public transit and parking is also available on the street or by the parking lot nearby. I only found out about Goldstruck because of Google and one time I was sitting at Starbucks across from the street and I saw it which reminded to pay a visit the next time. (It is not really on a street level, more like an underground but you'll see the sign as you walk by.) When I came, I ordered an iced latte ($4.95 I believe and pretty sure it was only one size), I think the price is more or less similar to Starbucks. The drink tasted delicious, decor on point, can get a bit dark but great ambience overall and sufficient seating in a small cafe. Would return and try other items on the menu! read more

IF YOU LIKE STRONG AMERICANOS, be sure to ask for less water. The staff put a lot of water in Americanos by default, probably to serve the mixed tourist/local clientele. However, when not watered down, the coffee is excellent. Even flavoured, not citrusy or sour. If I lived in the area, this would likely be my daily coffee shop. If you're looking for real coffee (not Starbucks or Tim Hortons), you'll find it here. Note that I only drink espresso-based coffee, so I can't comment on Goldstruck's drip coffee (if they even have any). Nice cozy basement atmosphere with typical trendy-café furnishings. This is a welcome addition to the Yorkville area. Opening just a couple days ago, one could easily see the place still needs a bit of fine tuning. It's beautiful and clean but somewhat sparse. It lacks warmth. Don't get me wrong, it's lovely but it's just missing that something that makes it their own Goldstruck rather than a successful execution of a reclaimed, hipster modern interior. Pricey but worth the treat. I think they bake the croissants in house because at some point during my stay, the pleasant smell was all I could think about. Vanilla RAF coffee is a must try. It comes out to be more than $5 - yikes - making it dangerously yummy. I found the washrooms to be really clean even though many people were using them. During rush hours, it's loud for sure - it's a compact corridor. Plus, the tables fill up quite quickly! Especially since they have lots of outlets. Definitely looked like some people had been seated for more than 2hours! read more

Stopped in here for a coffee after my hair appointment at Toni and Guy. I'd rate it 2.5 for the latte and 4.5 for the interior design. Since this is fundamentally a coffee place I rounded that out to a 3/5. It's absolutely beautiful inside, I love how they decorated it. It has a minimalist industrial wooden vibe. In the entrance there is a coffee concepts chalk board with a hessian sack full of coffee beans. There are individual and communal tables along the wall each with an individual and unique light bulb hanging above. The counter is wooden and decorated with fancy pour over equipment. The washrooms are in the same theme with the doors faux wood and nice iron hooks inside. I think this would be a nice place to work. The tables were full but because the place is spacious it was still quiet and peaceful. As for the service and coffee, both were just ok. The girl who served me and the barista were neither overly friendly or unfriendly, nor were they in a particular hurry. The almond milk latte was 5.37 and just ok. Is was a pretty big coffee - steamed milk bubbles at the top so not my preferred crema, and no latte art. The milk seemed thin, not sure which one that they used. I did like the beautiful cup and saucer it came in. Would I return? Maybe to try an Americano or pour over. If I was in Yorkville and wanted a latte to go I'd probably stick with Sorry. But this place has a much nicer ambiance if you want to sit down. read more

Goldstruck coffee fits the York Ville area very well. It has a fantastic interior design and a generous seating area. The service is exquisite and quick, and the prices are also very reasonable. The items on the menu are a bit limited, but they have a few different coffee specialties for hardcore coffee fans that you do not find in most coffee shops across the GTA. They also have a few creative latte flavors. If you come to Yorkville you have to stop here, even if you are just going for a tour. They do deserve a 5-star rating, but it would be unfair to them as they are a new business, and there are minor things they need to improve on. The menu needs to be a bit more descriptive for amateur coffee drinkers, and perhaps a few, not too many, items need to be added to the menu to cover more type of customers. As it stands, it is a bit too coffee-heavy. read more

Fake cold brew I ordered a cold brew. Barista poured the bottom one inch coffee concoction and added lots of water and ice. It has zero taste and lots of grits. I went back right away and was told they now have fresh cold brew. Cold brew takes hours to make - it is not cold coffee and certainly not worth $6.22 for crap. read more

Not only was the drink watered down, it was also so bad. The barista didn't even finish the drink with a rosette. Normally that wouldn't be an issue. I love this unique and stylish coffee joint at the heart of Yorkville. it's super nicely designed on the inside and has a very cozy atmosphere. The coffee quality is super awesome (higher then Sturbucks), their signature is a Russian inspired HALVA Latte which is sweet but SUPER AMAZING. Had goldstruck coffee for the first time this past weekend. The place is surprisingly big and very busy inside. The main draw for me was that their beans are apparently roasted within 14 days, which I thought would be cool. On this particular sunday afternoon, there was one cashier and one barista. The barista and the cashier seem to constantly have miscommunication as the barista doesn't know how many or what drinks to make. They also don't take your name down when you order, so when they call out "latte", everyone kinda walks towards the drink.. As such, the wait was a bit long. The latte was fine, but nothing special. There was no latte art, just a straight pour of the steamed milk into the espresso shot. There was also alot of foam...more than a latte should.
