Horrible customer service from the CEO David Akhamzadeh. When my order didn't come with instructions they sent me a link to their YouTube channel, not the specific link to the product I bought. I don't have the time to try and figure out what video is for my product. After a very rude interaction with David he sent me a link to ALL of their product "instructions". what they are calling instruction but are just pictures of someone putting the item together. What I really need is what bolts go where. I'd never buy anything from them again. read more

Front desk person was attentive and friendly so this is not a reflection of her. My concern is with being charged 3x more than what the items are marked for. After purchasing my items I browsed a bit more and saw the exact item I had just purchased for about $1.45, whereas I was charged $4.99 (based on their website price). When I pointed out the discrepancy, I was told this was the new price due to tariffs. I believe the consumer is entitled to get the item for the price it is advertised in CA right? I bought the rivet press specifically to use with leather, based on the company's video that claims that it could punch clean holes and install rivets easily. In reality, the hole punch die doesn't even punch through leather. I've tried different types and thicknesses, applied significant pressure, and followed all instructions -- nothing works. The tool is simply not functional for its advertised purpose. When my wife called Goldstar for guidance using the hole punch she was quickly rushed off the phone by who I assume is the owner or manager who seemed annoyed by her simple question and gave her a bogus suggestion that ultimately did not remedy the issue. Let me also note my wife is not new to leatherwork and has used presses in the past so this is not due to inexperience. After attempting to use the hole punch countless times using different methods, we were both unable to successfully punch a hole as shown in their videos also not to mention the 3mm hole punch die they show on their website and the video IS NOT THE PRODUCT WE WERE SENT! I emailed Goldstar requesting to return the item since the product is faulty and falsely advertised and the customer service was even worse than when my wife simply called for help with the product. I was told to send a video of us using the hole punch which depicted the issue, they responded some B/S excuse that we were using thicker leather and were not using enough pressure however in their video they depict the hole punch punching holes through thicker leather than we used. We went back and forth and they blatantly refuse to give us a full refund and will charge us to ship the item back plus an additional 20% restocking fee. This company should be ashamed of themselves for treating customers this way. We wanted to purchase from Goldstar because they are a local small business and wanted to support them but clearly they do not value customers and only conduct business with greedy predatory practices. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM and save yourself the headache. Very upset about this situation and would never suggest their products to anyone. read more

I ordered a foot press and grommets. They were out of stock of the size of grommet I wanted so they offered me a size up, without specifying that the grommets were also longer in depth. This made them completely useless for my application. As for the foot press, the craftsmanship of the tool was garbage. The cast pieces were so poorly manufactured I can't imagine they would have lasted very long. The feet at the bottom were improperly welded so they were sitting at an angle on the floor instead of flat. After getting everything assembled, I tried using the cutting die and it wouldn't even cut a thin piece of muslin. The grommet die also wouldn't press evenly, producing irregular grommets. Despite trying to problem-solve with the company I was never able to get it to work. When I requested a return for faulty equipment they refused to provide a full refund. What garbage. Save your money and purchase from somewhere else. read more

Placed an order for two items, that were available (they said)...started the process six weeks ago, still not received the parts...was told four weeks in, 'we did not ship for some reason'...'it's shipping today', no apology...almost two weeks later it has not left the warehouse...they e-mail regularly and Facebook market us regularly asking how well they did...I still don't have the parts and they still have my money...good work Goldstar! Please don't shop here!!!!!! BE AWARE!!!! Words can't express how disappointed I am with this business. I spent more than 6k for 3 brand new machines here and 2 of the machines constantly having issues that a brand new machine shouldn't have. They also over charged me and after countless phone calls they said their sale department already issued the refund. Nothing! After many more calls and emails all I have back is " I will call you back" or " don't worry I will have someone reach out to fix the problems". None of it happened, only broken promises. And of course after a while I was ghosted by them while my machines only have more problems. Imagine a sewing machine that just stop stitching while running, or it power and off every 5 minutes by itself, or the needle won't stop shaking. And those are only a few problems I deal with everyday since I have it. Imagine an industrial serger that can only serge 2 layers of thin fabric max, if thicker it will keep losing under thread. I hired my own Juki technician and guess what we found out? The machines are put together with USED parts and parts that are NOT MADE for the specific machines. My technician told me 2 out of my 3 "brand new" machines look like floor sample machines. Do not let the low price and free shipping fool you!!! This business is not legit and the owner is a con. First, they did a last minute switch and sent us another machine that was"just as good". It turns out that they don't actually sell this model on their site. The machine is defective and has failed to work after very light use. They have been very difficult to communicate with and don't seem interested in resolving the issue. I am a retired disabled veteran, who does some sewing to help make ends meet. I purchased a Juki machine through Goldstar and when it arrived, it was broken. I returned the machine and it has been six months with no resolution. I message repeatedly and the owner. David just respond with "I'll get back to you" and then doesn't. 1 month ago. I posted a negative review and started receiving abusive and threatening messages from the owner. He promised me if I took the review down he would "make it right.". There still has been no resolution, and at this point I'm out $3000 and don't even have the machine. This is the worst customer service I've ever dealt with with a company. My tailor called my Sunday on memorial Day Weekend with an emergency for me to find some bonded nylon thread and thick leather needles for a costume he's been sewing on for me. Knowing the Sewing Center on 8th was closed for the holidays, I found on 9th street near Maple this tiny gem /diamond in the rough. In a store 1/10th the size of the Sewing Center on 8th was everything I needed. David and Ariel were fantastic in helping me (and the tailor via phone) get the exact gauge for the leather needles and bonded nylon thread. They had the largest selection of zippers I've seen in the fabric mart, and they couldn't have been nicer in helping me. Follow the Latino Salsa Music southeast from Maple and 9th and you will find this little store with BIG friendly service. I'm a garment upcyler and designer. Goldstar Tools has an excellent range of products on which I rely for adding zing to my upcycled designs. All products are high quality, especially the heavy duty hand press for grommets, studs, and denim buttons, etc. The die for the press are reasonably priced and easy to match with the extremely wide range of grommets, eyelets, studs, and other embellishment products. Their delivery process is extremely fast. Might be because I live relatively close, but I generally receive my orders within three business days of placement. Customer service over the phone is exceptional. I can't recommend Goldstar more! Next time I head to the Los Angeles Garment District, I'm definitely stopping by their brick and mortar store just to say hello and thank you. read more

Goldstar tools is a major scam!. Terrible quality tables, terrible support and flat out dishonest! We bought, through Amazon a new machine and table. While the machine itself is well made, the table construction and quality was absolutely awful. bad welds throughout, tabletop arrived with clear manufacturing screw ups, huge chips in the laminate with sloppy putty work to hide it, silk-screened metric markings are crooked and not even remotely accurate to measure off of. machine does not fit properly and required additional shimming to even remove the bobbin access plate. Foot pedal pivots are crooked and one had a completely broken weld. Motor shipped was returned for refund/credit since it was the wrong one. David, the owner, personally assured me over the phone, they would correct the issues. I called back weeks later to see what was being done. I was referred to support. After nearly 2 weeks, We finally received a replacement foot pedal, but it was also bad quality and required bending to straighten the pivots. I had also requested from David on the phone to exchange the brand new still boxed up motor for the correct upgraded servo motor and needle positioner setup. He personally agreed to that and advised me to return the motor for credit/refund, which we had to pay shipping to return. He charged us full retail price for the new servo motor and needle positioner, which we received about 2 weeks later. We returned the original motor the same day we requested the replacement. We have neither received a credit, a refund, or even acknowledgement of GoldStar Tools having received our return. The new servo motor is fine, but the needle positioner unit remains unusable to this day as the installation parts they shipped were not correct and we have yet to receive any response from the company regarding the correct parts nor have we received any credit or refund. David will not return calls or acknowledge our continuing requests for support. As far as I'm concerned GoldStar Tools has ripped us off for the motor and selling us a system we cannot use. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! read more

I make custom clothing and my work studio is located just around the corner from here. I've been coming here for 2 years now, the Hispanic owner (i think he's the owner) he's amazing, he takes the time to help. BUT unfortunately he's recently hired a younger man to work the store.(heavier set gentleman) And the stores customer service is terrible now. Today the younger man refused to help me with a simple question I had. He said "sorry were closed", when the store was still open with 5 mins to closing. He eventually let me run to the back to grab a zipper I needed. And I ran into the owner who was walking out. So being the hustler that I am, I asked the owner to help me with me question. (I have a rushed custom order due in the morning) When the younger man saw me talking to the owner he ran over and said " I told her we were closed". And he looked extremely annoyed. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is I bought a pair of scissors recently for around $22. They would have been a good price but I didnt notice they were held together by a screw and plastic nut, and they lasted less than a day. That's the only thing I've ever had a problem with though, So maybe pay more attention than I did read more

Extremely unprofessional company! I ordered 10 yards of manila pattern paper from their online store January 15th. After waiting almost a month I decided to e-mail the company to see if they knew where my order was. David, the owner replied to me in a very unprofessional manner with poor English and said he would look into it - of course he never got back to me. I called them a week later since still no paper, and he said that he shipped the paper but since he couldn't find it he would send me a second order. I waited another three weeks and still no paper. After calling and emailing again numerous times the owner made it seem as if it was my fault the paper wasn't getting to me and maybe I put my address in incorrectly - so he would send a third order to me February 24th and this time give me a tracking number. After checking the tracking number for the next week and a half it seemed that USPS never received the order to ship to me. I sent him yet another email saying that I would like my money back if I don't see the paper within a week - The owner claimed he "personally sent the item" and would check where it was. No reply, so I followed up asking if he knew where the order was, and still no reply from him. I continued checking the tracking number for the next week after emailing the owner, and USPS had finally received my order March. 7th. It is now March 12th, two months after the original order date and I received my order. Never order online from this company unless you want to harass them for months to get what you paid for, with absolutely no apologies on their part. read more
