I've had my share of blow outs, but these girls take the cake. They offer a selection of scented oils for your scalp massage - lavender for me, please! Shampoo/conditioner follows, and then on to the blow out. They have a menu of styles in a lookbook to give you some guidance - very smart idea. As for makeup, I was thrilled. I went with the "Zelda" - I can never say no to cat eyes and red lipstick. My whole experience was beyond relaxing, luxurious, and above all, professional. i think this is the best blow dry bar in Chicago. I've tried most of them at this point and this one consistently does the best job on my hair. I have been a few times since my review from last year and am always so pleased with the results. I went in on Saturday before a dinner date and got a great scalp massage before my blowout. I said I wanted something 'romantic looking but not too done up oh and also I need a lot of product or the curls will fall' which is totally annoying but somehow my stylist (I'm pretty sure his name is Will!) understood what I meant. I got pretty flat iron curls that loosened up a little but still looked very glamorous. They also use THE BEST smelling products with great results-- MoroccanOil, Alterna and Kenra all smell so good. My blowout for my rehearsal was perfect - sleek just like I asked. They were super accommodating....when I looked online, the earliest I could get in on Saturday was at 9 AM for hair and makeup, but when I called on Friday afternoon, they were able to squeeze me in at 8 AM on Saturday. This one hour made a huge difference to me in terms of not feeling rushed in the morning. LOVED this place! It was $40 for a dry blowout which I found to be a reasonable price. When I called and described my hair they gave me recommendations of which service to get. I have thin hair so they recommended a dry blow out. Only took a half hour and it lasted all night long. Most painless hair appointment ever. Started my appointment a little early, asked for some loose beach waves pinned up half in the back. My stylist checked in with me multiple times to make sure I was happy, and she nailed the look I was going for. I was also done in about 30/40 minutes, and my hair is fairly thick; this gave me more time to get ready for my event, which I appreciated. Really stellar experience from start to "finish" -- no pun intended! I needed a blow-out and makeup application prior to my bridal shower on a Sunday, 2 hours before their open time. Mal (owner) made the magic happen by having two of her best staff members come in early just to accommodate me! The experience started with a scalp massage (to die for), then thorough shampoo/condition, then the blow-out. It was done by the master, Marisol, who cut NO corners, taking over an hour to finish my 'do to perfection. While she was doing her thing, makeup artist Kristy worked on my complexion. I don't know how she kept a steady hand as the blow-out was going on at the same time, but she did. Two hours later, they had me out just in time for my shower and feeling like a million bucks. Goldplaited is known for their amazing blowouts, dry styles, and makeup, but I would highly recommend any brides looking for beauty services to use them! I wasn't getting ready in a hotel room or special spot where beauty pros could come to us, but I knew I wanted it to be more fun than filing people in and out of a typical salon. After discussing pricing and options with Mal, I was able to book the entire space at a really reasonable price to get myself & bridal party prettied up for the busy day ahead. Mal even helped figure out the best time block out to make the most of the time schedule for the day! The space was perfect for my group of eight, but could accommodate more. We were able to bring in food and drinks, which gave the entire morning a laid back brunch feel while we got gussied up. There is even an adorable back room where the group was able to relax while not in a chair getting ready! And last but definitely not least - we all left looking AMAZING. Never have I felt so gorgeous as that day (followed only by my fantastic trial, which comes with the bridal package), and all the women who came with left with the biggest smiles on their faces. Each one of us got something unique to our personal styles (though we do all love braids and waves!), and the four stylists/artists that worked with us to make it happen wonderfully. We left Goldplaited at 1pm, and my hair/makeup stayed perfect through a first look & ceremony (with LOTS of happy tears), photos, and hours of dancing. I've only been to Goldplaited once so far, but I'm already kind of obsessed. I'm definitely all about businesses that help me look extra glam for special occassions - I've been using Rent the Runway forever and always trying to schedule various salon appointments or Groupons to coincide with parties or events to complete my look. Also, I'm just not that good at doing my own hair and makeup for anything more than everyday or going out on the weekend - I can admit it. I've fought it for years but I think I will just never be awesome at doing my own hair and makeup. So for that reason alone, this place is a dream come true I had heard of them on social media and had them recommended to me by a few ladies in the know, so I decided to give Goldplaited a try last week before I was going to have my engagement pictures done. They had appointments for hair and makeup open early enough in the day that I could still make my mid-afternoon photo appointment with plenty of time. Both my hair and makeup stylist were both really cool and they did an amazing job. Using their Lookbook, which is such a good, easy way to have people pick out their styles, I was able to tell them what I was hoping for, even though it wasn't exactly the same as the "looks", based on my hair type and just how my style is and they executed so well. I do love that they have a variety of "looks" in mind so you can look just right whether you want to class it up for a charity gala or you want to look really sexy for a night out The salon itself is so stylish and glam - I really loved all the decorations, their finishing alcove with perfume and such, and style quotes all over. The vibe of the salon really adds to the fun of getting pretty there. The ladies who own the shop were chatting with me most of the time, which was really awesome, and were nice enough to keep offering me something to drink and checking to see how things were going. I was so excited to finally visit Goldplaited because the reviews were impeccable. I finally thought I was going to find a blow dry bar in Chicago! I was very wrong. I was set to be styled with their senior stylist- I believe her name was Megan? She is head of all the classes that they have there. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair to look. It was a picture that I had taken in NYC from getting my hair blown out. She saw it and said no problem. After an hr of sitting there I couldn't believe how bad my hair turned out. I didn't have any time to tell them I hated it because I was late to my reservation, but it was a huge disappointment. I had been obsessing over their instagram for months and finally called to inquire if they did weddings. Lucky me - not only are they by FAR the most affordable hair and makeup option I was quoted, but they offer the option to rent out part of the salon to make the day special for the bridal party. I came in for a trial and knew without a doubt that I had made the right decision. On the day of my wedding, Megan cranked through eight up-dos in less than 3 hours and Kristy flew through nine full make-up applications in the same time frame. All the ladies loved how their hair and makeup turned out and it all kept throughout the whole day (even with tonnnnnns of humidity and dancing!). For a girl who wants to treat herself for a special occasion (or just because-- because I do it all the time), Goldplaited has come through. Most of the time, if I want to get a blow dry-- I can go to a blow dry bar and not have a problem. But sometimes I want to just get my face made up as well! Traditionally, I've had to go to makeup counters and get pressured into buying the product (which costs so much money!) But not anymore! Goldplaited is deemed a 'finishing salon,' and they provide hairstyling and makeup services. They do both blowouts and dry styles, and they also provide makeup services. I got a blowout from Gina, who gave my hair beautiful mermaid waves! She was also just the sweetest person ever. They also do great drystyles, as another stylist gave my hair the most gorgeous french braid into a side fishtail. The stylist who did my makeup was also amazing. They have four set looks, but they let you choose what you want to do with it and will update it to your likings. So I chose the Hadley, but with a smokier eye and a lip that POPPED. They also have their own makeup which you can buy. They have a 'finishing station' where you can spritz on perfume, and they also offer you complimentary champagne. The shop is absolutely adorable, I love the decor. It's all very dapper and GOLD! I was able to book a last minute appointment via phone for my bridal shower last weekend! I had my hair blown out to loose curls, my make up done simultaneously (I highly appreciate their efficiency) with lashes as an extra! I don't typically wear make up on a daily basis and they definitely know how to make a girl look polished and enhanced without looking like a clown. Come for the special classes! I've recently attended the "Gal on the Go" and the "Curling Iron" classes at the salon. The "Gal on the Go" class provides a tutorial on "how to do a 10 min makeup application" and quick and easy hair styles that make you look more put-together. Super practical and accessible for beginners! The Curling Iron class was great--the teacher shows you some techniques on how use a variety of different tools (who knew that you could create curls with a flat iron?!) and then you get to try all of the tools on your own hair. Each class was $20 and was totally worth it. I can't wait to go to the next class. read more

My sister and I went to Goldplaited for the first time this Saturday, to have our hair and makeup done for a wedding, and let me tell you this salon was absolutely AMAZING. From the first moment we got there we were welcomed with open arms! The staff is beyond friendly, and willing to do whatever they need to do to make sure you look perfect and even more importantly make sure you feel incredible and love your look before you leave! Each stylist spent an hour with us, and thoroughly explained there thought process and were suggestive but not pressuring to anything they truly want you to love your look! The hair stylists and makeup stylists are super talented- they specialize in braiding and let me tell you I have been to a bunch of salons and they have always said I have difficult hair or to short to braid or put up, and they had no trouble doing anything and everything to it! Back in 2016 (yes, this is a way overdue review), I had a very small City hall marriage with just 5 guests (had a big wedding later in my home country). For my City hall wedding I had my hair and makeup done here - I just paid for the individual services, not a package. They did a phenomenal job. Even though it wasn't a big fancy wedding job for them, they still gave it a 100% and treated me like a bride! I hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to do with my hair, but they asked me a couple of questions and came up with a beautiful updo with some curls framing my face. I was also terrified of fake lashes, but they calmed me down and made the process easy - the lashes looked amazing. They were also very cool with my photographer taking shots of me & the salon while getting ready in the main salon - the salon was the PERFECT backdrop for these pictures.
