Her talent as a colorist and stylist is unmatched. No matter how I describe what I'm envisioning, she somehow translates it into exactly what I wanted--often even better than I imagined. She has an incredible eye for color, and I leave every appointment feeling so confident. Beyond her talent, Amanda has created such a relaxing atmosphere in her private studio. If you want a quiet, peaceful appointment, she's wonderful at creating that space. If you're in the mood to chat, she's equally amazing--easy to talk to, full of fun stories, and genuinely enjoyable to spend a few hours with. She's also fantastic about recommending products that actually benefit your hair without making you feel pressured to buy anything. I'll admit, a part of me hesitates to write this review because I selfishly don't want it to become harder to book an appointment! But her expertise, professionalism, and kindness deserve to be recognized. If you're looking for someone who truly listens and consistently delivers beautiful results, Amanda is absolutely worth it.

I have never left a review before on yelp or any website, but I truly felt obligated to leave one…read morehere after my conversation with Steve. I had an appointment for a Saturday early afternoon blowout at the Lincoln park location for an event I had later in the day. I was coming in from out of town and unfortunately my plane was delayed and it was looking like I was not going to make the 1 pm appointment. I called at 9:50 am CT and was met with such disrespect on the other end of the call. I explained the situation and that I was not able to get out and they were deplaning us. I said I understand you have a policy but wondering if you can make an exception for a first time customer. He told me no and was immediately rude and passive aggressive with his tone. He told me that I should have read the policy which is to cancel in 24 hrs. When I said this is an uncontrollable circumstance I didn't know I would be stuck and unable to get there he said that's too bad and I should have ready the policy and "no one ever reads it obviously." I asked him to reiterate the policy to me three times to understand how much I would be owed. He kept telling me to read it and finally when I said is it full price I cannot read it as I made the appointment yesterday? And he said yes. I asked for his name and told him thank you. He said sorry sarcastically and scoffed and hung up. I was then charged the full blowout cost within 60 seconds of hanging up. I did not want to be a no show I wanted to be respectful and called as soon as I could. I understand a policy but I also would understand a customer calling four hours ahead of her appointment due to an uncontrollable circumstance and wanting to build customer loyalty. I overall simply do no understand the disrespect which I am most upset about. I would never recommend a place that was so disrespectful. Customer service truly is dead.

I was then told that Tara has a separate 48-hour cancellation policy and that I would still be charged a cancellation fee, despite that policy not being listed anywhere on the website. The whole interaction left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't even want to reschedule afterward. It felt really misleading and just poor customer service. I was also told that Tara's specific cancellation policy would be added to the website, but it still hasn't been. Posting this so others are aware, because there's no reasonable way to know cancellation policies vary by stylist if that information isn't clearly disclosed upfront.
