We de…read morewhat we were going to get which was spare ribs chicken balls and some egg fried rice.We sat down after a kind lady showed us were to sit. They gave us fortune cookies which were delicious. We ordered what we wanted and some drinks. It didn't take them long to bring us our dish so we dug in.We all loved the chicken balls they were so crispy and juicy. The spare ribs were delicious but a little bit fatty. And the egg fried rice was the best egg fried rice I've ever had. Also the inside was so pretty. When we were finished the gave us little wipes because of the ribs. They were so kind they even treated us with a free ice cream which was big for the price.

They offer a gluten free menu for takeaway and sit in and have quite a good selection. I had tried their takeaway menu so decided to sit in one night with my mum. We had prawn toast to start which honestly was so good you couldn't tell it was gluten free. I then had the beef curry whilst my mum had chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce. Both was equally delicious but the curry sauce was just slightly too runny for my liking. The chicken balls were lovely and really crispy so a slight difference from the gluten kind you normally get from a takeaway. We shared a fried rice and chips between us. There was a slightly longer wait for food as it's cooked separately but that didn't bother us. The staff are friendly and my mum was offered a free strawberry liqueur once we had finished our meal. It's a bit of a drive from me but It's worth to to be able to enjoy Chinese food without the pain!!,

(20 years ago...wow!) Don't think I've ever had anything I didn't like out of here, although I do tend to stick to the same things! But in my defence, we don't often get a takeaway and I sometimes find myself craving their Chow Mein! (Chicken or char siu pork, get fine noodles cause they're amaaazing. I even craved it when I was baking in the hot sun in Tenerife this year, true story.) I can also vouch for the chicken and ham fried rice, chicken in black bean sauce, spring rolls, ribs, and salt and chilli chicken wings - all delicious! My folks are big fans of their chicken curry as well, but as per I can't handle it cause it's just too nippy for me. The actual restaurant is great as well, I've had loads of brilliant meals here and everything is reasonably priced! They've usually got some sort of Set Menu on the go which has loads of great choices. The pineapple fritters are an absolute must as well, especially if you decide to share them and a portion of ice cream with another person - what a combo!! Although it's not very big, it's a quaint little joint and they're also good at catering for larger parties - I've had at least one family meal here and there were a fair few of us! So in summary, if you live near enough to get a takeaway from here or for some reason find yourself out Shettleston way, you can't go wrong with The China House :)

I have been going to this restaurant probably 5 times a year for the last 10 years. I first went here with friends and was amazed at the size (huge) of the portions and the superb quality of the food. Hence I kept going back. My last meal in here was a year ago and it hasn't changed since. I believe they changed their chefs. Although you couldn't fault the portion size the meals became almost inedible. Fatty, greasy and basically tasting the same no matter what you ordered. The staff are still their usual happy and attentive and still have a total look of harassment on their faces on a saturday night even though now the place is only half full. The only thing passable which hasn't changed is their Chicken Noodle soup which I'm afraid to say looks and tastes very suspiciously like the packet Chicken Noodle soup I recently purchased from the Chinese cash and carry supermarket in Maryhill. Orchid Lane's soup has a few more chopped up spring onions in it but it is lovely but not enough of a reason to keep going back when i can get the same soup from the Chinese supermarket. I feel sorry for them as this was a great little restaurant and you always had to book, now you don't need to. The toilets are the same as ever, tired but clean and functional, the same as the decor. For the money you'd spend here you'd be better going up the road to the all you can eat Chinese buffet up the road.
