I had tried their takeaway menu so decided to sit in one night with my mum. We had prawn toast to start which honestly was so good you couldn't tell it was gluten free. I then had the beef curry whilst my mum had chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce. Both was equally delicious but the curry sauce was just slightly too runny for my liking. The chicken balls were lovely and really crispy so a slight difference from the gluten kind you normally get from a takeaway. We shared a fried rice and chips between us. There was a slightly longer wait for food as it's cooked separately but that didn't bother us. The staff are friendly and my mum was offered a free strawberry liqueur once we had finished our meal. The shop is set back from the road and looking at the outside, it doesn't look like much and the inside is pretty basic, but you shouldn't judge a take away from it's facade . The staff are always friendly, the food is fresh and the menu is pretty much what you'd expect, but with a wide choice of take away options in the area, there's a reason that this place has lasted over the years and that's because what it lacks in glamour it makes up in other ways. I have noticed on our visit that they have started doing a few meal packages recently, which appear to be aimed at the local market and in line with other local take always, not to my tastes, but I don't like to judge. Personally it's one of our local "go to" places when we want a takeaway because it's consistent and we know that if do want a change they would be glad to make a recommendation.

Tonight I ordered the salt and pepper chicken balls, chips fried rice and curry sauce and some prawn toast on the side. No chef's specials for this girl! I done my usual sharing a few of my favourite things. The salt and pepper chicken balls can be overly salty sometimes but tonight they were fab. As always, their prawn toast game was strong! Good Chinese in my area has been a bit of a quest but Golden Wok is definitely a consistently good option. And a sure thing to hold a hangover at bay!

We visit it regularly and I can honestly say that on every occasion, the staff have been well mannered and friendly. There's one woman in particular who works there who is very nice and welcoming. The decor is pretty much standard for a chinese buffet restaurant/takeaway and is cosy. But the most important thing is the food! And it is delicious! Granted we haven't tried ALL their dishes (huge variety on offer) but the ones we have tried have all been really tasty! I favour sweet and sour chicken and am really fussy about the sauce.
