Asiama - He is please with my choice of steamed chicken with fungi!

It looks super sad and there always 2 people eating which I assume are the actual staff members. Every time I build up the motivation to try Asia Ma, I went up straying to Ka Ka Lok as its more "happening". Well for once, we managed to pull through with our decision and enter this empty restaurant. Yes, it was just me and Gian dining in at a Malaysian Chinese restaurant at 930pm. A bit awkward but, we figured maybe cause it's late? Who knows. We were seated by the window by a friendly Malaysian (I assume) auntie, given menus and two baskets of prawn crackers (how generous ey) as we skimmed through the choices of food. Went for the menu with the Chinese words because that's where the good stuff is ey! Hehe Anyway, I chose the dinner for us and we had fried rice, steamed chicken with fungi (takes 20 mins to prepare and no, it's not the fungi you think! It's herbal mushroom!), deep fried homemade tofu, and pot of Chinese tea for 2. So 20 mins of chatting and prawn crackers later, I will quote Gian, "you chose well Sarah". Yes, the food was amazing. SUPER delicious! And huge in terms of portions!! We had extra for lunch the next day! The steamed chicken with black fungi was very herbal, gingery and just plain delightful in terms of light flavours! It complimented the deep fried home made tofu super well because that was seasoned with Malaysian soy sauce, shrimp, spring onions and all kinds of robust flavours! Along with fried rice, it was TWO THUMBS UP FOR ME! Altogether it was 15quid per person, and FYI, I have a lot of left over for lunch haha it's like you're paying for 2 meals! Guys, don't be fooled by the emptiness of Asia Ma, their food is AWESOME! Next time, imma go try the fish head tofu hot pot and Assam fish. Exciting!!

I'm surprised I'm the first to review TBH as Asiama has been here for a while. I have wanted to visit it for ages and I am glad I finally got the chance as the whole experience was really good. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming. It felt a bit like a Hong Kong cafe with the roasted meats hanging in the kitchen. We ordered a selection of dishes to share between four.... Here goes.... Roast duck, salt and chill chicken, Malaysian beef curry, char Sui Sichuan, authentic peppered chicken, fried rice, boiled rice and even some cheeky chips to help soak up the hangover. The food was all pretty good. The Malaysian curry was superb, spicy and with loads of sauce it was a favourite. The salt and chill chicken was really tasty and it was a great size portion. The Sichuan char Sui was my next favourite and was cooked really well. I also enjoyed the peppered chicken which had loads of peppers and onions as well as chicken. The only dish I was not that keen on was the roasted duck which was just a bit to chewy and fatty. The staff obviously thought we did not have enough food as they then brought out some really tasty and authentic dim sum which they informed us was complimentary. It was a great touch. By the time the free oranges arrived I was stuuuuuuffed! I'm tempted to give it 5, but I'm gonna go with four. Reason being the roasted duck was a Wee bit disappointing and the competition for authentic Chinese restaurants in Glasgow is now red hot. Don't get me wrong this place is excellent and I will definitely be back. Nearly forgot.... All that food and only 15 quid a head, bargain! Check it out soon Yelpers, it deserves more reviews.

We were out for a stag do so perhaps not giving the menu our full attention but even then the idea that we weren't ready to order within 10 minutes of sitting down didn't seem to go down to well. Feeling under pressure I plumped for the Haggis rolls to start. A bit of a disappointment to be honest as it was merely haggis wrapped in spring roll pastry, I was hoping for more of a traditional pancake roll with Haggis providing an alternative to the prawns and char siu laced with vegetables and beansprouts, They were nice but could have been so much more. For main I went for char siu with beansprouts and (mystery) gravy. My cooking skills have come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months but char siu is still something I've truly master so I like ordering it when I'm out. If I could sum up my main I would say it was like getting a takeaway on a plate. It was nice and the plain chow mein I had along with it was perhaps the best thing on the table in front of me but overall it was lacking a bit of life all over. Nice, but won't be rushing to go back.

It is fairly new and we order our Takeaway from here weekly. The only wee gripe is that delivery takes ages so we normally collect ourselves - but that itself is testament to how busy/popular it is here. We normally order the Salt and Chilli chicken which (after vigorous and time consuming research, purely scientific obv) is THE best in EK. As are their Salt and Chilli chips. Their curry sauce is excellent, not too mild but with a nice kick. We've also tried the Beef Chow Mein which is a huge portion and has often done me 2 dinners - they certainly don't scrimp on the sizes in here. I've sat in before for their set menu, the place is a sea of black and red and very modern looking. The staff are helpful without being overbearing. A fantastic wee Chinese which is a must try if you stay in East Kilbride or nearby!

If you have eaten PHO in more authentic places like Little Vietnam in Los Angeles, San Francisco,…read moreToronto, and Orange County (I have)...then don't eat here. The Pho is not authentic. It is picture pretty but that is about it. This place was recommended by our friend's 25 year old kid (whose palette is still young). The decor is beautiful and the inside is cozy and intimate. I ordered the seafood pho. It had no depth to it. It was missing that umami flavor. The broth was watery. It was missing the mint and the Thai basil. I ordered it #2 spicy and it was not spicy at all. We asked for some Fish sauce and they had no idea what we were talking about (which should have been a red flag) so then we asked for Hoisin sauce and they didn't have that either, they offered us soy sauce and we accepted that. Anything to bring some flavor to our pho. They ran out of chicken and (the night was still young) so my friend had to order the beef pho. He said his was okay- this was his first time having pho so he had nothing to compare it to. The service was mediocre. We had to ask them to bring us utensils. We had to ask them again to bring us napkins. It took them forever to ask us what we wanted to drink after they sat us down. To be honest, it was overpriced for the quality of food that was served. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic pho in Glasgow. This is a very instagram/influencer spot for pretty food pics/decor and that's about it. I would not go back.

All where delicious. I also really enjoyed the Pho. Ratings can be hysterical - because everyone likes different types of Pho. One woman said the Pho is SO salty. And another guys claims its bland. (people are strange). Yet, I found it delicious. I ate downstairs on all of my trips and enjoyed that for lunch. Will def visit this for lunch again on my next visit.

Its a pretty big restaurant, and we were seated outside on the balcony. This was the perfect seat to be part of all the action that was taking place in the middle of the square. There was a live singer, 7 piece band and a DJ till 3am. All indoors which was ideal due to the normal Baltic temps in December! The service throughout the night was amazing. It was a set 3 courses with Prosecco for £40 which was actually the cheapest price within the square. It meant you could keep your table all night and leave jackets etc. This was pre Yelping days so I actually don't have any pics of the food!! (shameful!) I went back last week, and again had a really nice meal, with great service. I made the most of the 5pm deal - 2 courses for £12.95. The portion size was substantial and a really tasty dish. It defo has a different vibe than Mitchell lane, and is more of a restaurant than bar, however I enjoyed it just the same.

Just don't go if you're in a hurry. Unfortunately, the slow service is a similar theme at the new Soba restaurant on Albion Street. We did not have a booking however, so I would recommend to call to reserve a table. After about 20 mins we had still not been approached to take our food/drink order, and some of the staff seemed to be standing around in a daydream while we tried to grab their attention. When we did order, our drinks (two cokes) took another 10 mins to get to the table. On the other hand, the food was speedy and was at our table in about 15 mins. The chicken sate burger was spot on, smothered in sate sauce and sandwiched between a soft brioche bun. The chilli chips coupled with the sweet chilli dipping sauce were a perfect combo. The Katsu Curry unfortunately came with a really tiny amount of sauce to accompany the chicken, which was a bit of a let down. Although slow to start, the food was good and the staff were very friendly and chatty. Plus, we used a 50% off voucher so we grabbed a really good deal for the meal and service. Will be back, but definitely not one to try and squeeze into your lunch hour!

We were both hungry and our eyes fell upon Shilla, a Korean restaurant based in Finnieston. Checked out the menu and seen there was some seats available. We had ended up at that busy period but we managed to get seats at the window. We had asked for the mezzanine seats, which looked available, but they said no. Maybe it was reserved, we didn't get an answer. I ordered the teriyaki chicken dish but I didn't really get to order my drink as Linda was ordering a Sapporo beer the waitress then left quickly so guessed I was getting one too. Ah well Sapporo it is. The dish was lovely but I found the chicken to be quite fatty, which is really rare to come across. I found it a bit chewy but the sauce was lovely, served with a side salad and fluffy rice. We were also given a mix of pickles with soy sauce before our main meals, these were complimentary. They were ok, some a bit weird tasting and texture wise a bit strange to me. Overall it was a good experience as they left us alone all night after we were served our food. Linda and I wanted somewhere we could have a good catch up and this was ideal. It was a bit uncomfortable at the end when we paying the bill and the waitress was waiting beside us as we were counting out our money. I would maybe head back and try something else as it was ok but the last visit didn't exactly blow my socks off.
