It was good quality but also had a stronger flavor than I'm used to with Pad Thai. Portion sizes and prices were reasonable and it came out pretty fast too! Got the menu and ordered two entrees, the Pad gra prow - ground chicken with veggies in a spicy brown sauce and white rice. The waitress asked if I liked hot, and acknowledged with a "bring it on"! Flavor was wonderful, plenty crisp veggies with ground up chicken bits, now the spiciness was a 1, not a 3 so no sweating but then again spicy for me might might mean something different to ur palette. The second dish was the shrimp fried rice. Plenty of shrimp and the rice was cooked perfectly, not greasy or oily which is key and flavor was better than expected. I polished off the Pad on prem and brought home half the of the fried rice. Service was great, it looks like a lot of repeat diners come here. The Panang has a rich flavor, with about 1-star of natural heat. Pumpkin curry (winter squash, if you don't know) here is filled with chunks of goodness and a 1-star spice (not typical of traditional pumpkin curry, but not so hot that it wasn't easy to eat; I'm not a spicy-heat fan but can handle 1-star). Holy smokes on the Tom Kah Gai soup, our favorite of all Thai foods. The creamy coconut brother pairs nicely with lemongrass, button mushrooms, and chicken (you can ask for other meats, but "Gai" means chicken). We highly recommend this soup over the Tom Yum (that's a red, more of a tomato soup that's good but not like Tom Kah). We appreciate the large bowl of rice vs. other restaurants that bring it out in a small cup. Casual dining Thai restaurants with the same collection of curries and plates practically line the major roadways. Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart. Golden Thai definitely ups the ante. The wife had her standard dish to test the waters. The most popular dish around Massaman Curry. The sauce was more unctuous. The flavors a bit deeper. I had the Pad Nam Prik Phow. It's my go to dish to see if they can keep the sugar down and the spice up. They did a pretty good job of it. I had the spice level 8. It matches pretty close to an 8 at other places around town. I'll need to kick it up a bit next time to see if they keep the balance working. The veg was al dente. The sauce pretty balanced. We had the lunch special. Another time, we'll do the full entrees. Like many other places, you get a pot sticker/dumpling with the meal. Unlike other places, it's nicely fried and completely filled with nice filling. It is significantly better than any other place around town. The wife got some green tea. Surprisingly, it was a tea bag in a styrofoam cup. It came with a glass of ice in case it needed cooling. It wasn't all that hot to start with. Not hot enough to properly brew the tea -- if it was actual leaves and not a bag. They are trying to walk into better than casual dining. You can make a reservations through the website. That could be real handy. I'm still deciding if it's as good as it gets, but it's pretty close. We'll see what happens. One thing that's happening at this time is an awful lot of people are filing their first or second review ever and gushing a little too much. When there's 25 not recommended and only 2 recommended reviews, that usually means a place being a little too aggressive suggesting they give good reviews. That said Yelp was never mentioned while I was there, and we spent a reasonable amount of time talking to one of the family that owns the place. I would have probably rounded up to four stars, but I do NOT appreciate it when the server presents you with one of the new table side pay methods (clover, square, etc) and the default tip options are 18%, 20%, and 30% and stands there waiting. What happened to 15% and more importantly a little privacy and discretion? As for the food, the peanut sauce was watered down and super thin and the pad Thai was overly sweet. The combo curry was pretty good albeit somewhat mild. The chili stir fry was a nice try, but seemed lacking. This was our first time at this Thai restaurant with high recommendations so were wondering if this was an off night, with the staff and kitchen, but this was our experience tonight. We ordered pad Thai and Tom Kah Gai with potstickers for appetizers. The potstickers were just average but the soy sauce was too salty and vinegary. Then we waited 30-40 minutes for the rest of our food to come out. The Pad Thai was overly sweet and tangy. There was maybe a teaspoon and a half of chopped peanuts, no cilantro, no sprouts, no peppers, no green onion- nothing that would give it a distinguishing flavor and it came out to the table warm not hot. The tom kah gai soup was ok with plenty of mushrooms, carrots, green onions and just hot enough that it could be eaten right way. No one cleared our table when we were through eating and we waited an hour to get our bill even after we asked for it several times and eventually were told the only one who knew how to do it was the owner. Hmmm..... By the way we almost gave this place of one but we thought during this time of Covid being generous and bumping it up would be the right thing to do. read more

The curries have rich flavors (The mango and the pineapple are the best in my opinion) and the spices they use are more complex than just "spicy". From LA looking for authentic Thai food in Orem. It took us over an hour to find the perfect Thai place. We stumbled upon this beautiful cute cozy gem in Orem. It is located in an attractive plaza called University Mall. We spoke with the restaurant's owner since we came during lunch on an overcast day, and it was perfect for this type of food. Come to find out, its a mix of Laotian/Thai food, so in my opinion, its EVEN BETTER! We had golden Thai wings, egg rolls, fried rice, drunken noodles, and tom kah gai soup.
