Came in for some fabric for DIY ornaments. I was blown away by the selection of patterns and colors. Loved that they had small ends of fabric since I wanted different colors and not too much of any. The lady working was super helpful, I wasn't exactly sure what I needed but had pictures of what I wanted to do and she told me what I'd need. They didn't have everything there, but she told me where I could find it and showed me what they had in stock. read more

Lovely lovely store. I went in for notions today, and had to get home for the World Cup game, but I could have spent hours in here planning my next sewing project ... I have done this in the past :) Very nice folks work there. If you know what you want color-wise, stick to your guns, but if you're open to suggestions they are more than happy to advise on color combos. read more

I was not even acknowledged when I came in and walked toward the sales person. I finally asked if I could just ask a question.. it was not met with "OF COURSE" .. but a look of being interrupted.. I asked about batting because I hadn't see it walking through the store.. The sales person did ask if I meant batting or interfacing... I hesitated and was told it's over there.. where it is kept.. the small selection that is. Even my Daughter was met with attitude of being interrupted. Maybe you should close the store so no one will come in to bother the salesperson. I certainly will not return but go to another store who cares I'm there to spend money. read more

We called ahead and spoke with someone asking if they were open on Sunday. The person said yes, we drive over 2 hours because this was a Mother's Day present for a family member who was here from NEW YORK. We arrive and the store is ...to our surprise... closed. Poor planning on our part - think not since we called ahead. Then we see people inside doing a class ignoring us. The frustration and general lack of consideration- no one and I mean no one wants to drive around on Mother's Day for nothing. Quilting is a dying art so you would think you would treat potential customers with respect. read more

This place is amazing! They went over and above to help me when my quilter's machine broke and my great grandsons quilt wasn't going to be ready for his visit this week. I walked into this store today with my pattern in hand. I need about $200 worth of fabric for a quilt I'm making for an auction (and would then have to come back for the backing and batting). I spent 15 minutes milling about without ever being acknowledged or said "hello" to. I couldn't find the specific fabrics I needed, but no one seemed interested in helping either. I walked out. I will never go back because I actually like some customer service and a friendly greeting. read more

Visited a few weeks ago when my mom was in town. She had a quilt that she started 40 years ago and never finished that she didn't know how to finish. My mom chatted for a while with the woman behind the counter (I'm sorry, I didn't get her name!) and she helped my mom figure out next steps and how to finally complete the quilt. I browsed the store in the meantime and saw so much lovely material. I'm interested in learning to quilt and hope to take a class there someday. read more

We went here to pick up some fabric for princess dresses and had a great experience. They showed our daughter tons of options (they had a great inventory), and recommended fabrics which would be easiest for my wife to sew. The store is air conditioned - we buy more fabric when not over heated. They have a lot of great patterns. It is my favorite store in the San Jose/Pennisula area. I live in Santa Cruz. Owner lady yelling to the ugly Frenchie dog behind a glass door is rude and unhelpful, and that is putting it nicely. Never visiting again. How in the world do they stay open. They have no patience for anyone old with a disability. Be warned! Don't support this business. Maybe it was because we were Asian? The mother daughter team (also Asian) who were in before us on 4/8/22 working on a "sports themed" quilt - after they left, the owner talked all about how awful they were and what a rude mother she was and how she felt bad for the daughter, to the entire store and her co-worker/ employee. Find a different place to spend your money or get quilting help, if you are BIPOC. Please read other reviews- Why support this terrible owner? No one is that rude if they are happy and enjoying life. Definitely the farthest thing from a "go-to" experience. Bad white supremacy vibes here. I choose the internet or Jo-Anns. read more

This store is hit or miss. Some experiences are great. Recently, a gentleman was doing some handwork as I came in, he greeted me warmly, and I got to work on a new project. I only found out after half an hour that the store hadn't been officially opened when I entered. He was, in a word, gracious. And he mentioned it as I checked out with a few hundred bucks of stuff. He said, well I'm glad I opened up. And we laughed. Other times, I have been snapped at (by a store owner no less). Recently I was hand-piecing a 6" Le Moyne star and it was turning out "puffy". I couldn't figure out the problem as I'm a little rusty. (I had stopped quilting for a few years while living abroad.) So brought in a piece (mind you I had just recently bought $180 bucks of full-price fabric from Golden State to make this quilt) and the owner couldn't be bothered with the question. Sonja actually told me to "Google it". Imagine if I Googled fabric and notions and bought all this stuff elsewhere, I thought. Other staff members made eye contact to express empathy. She later apologized about it to my husband, so at least there's that. I used to go to Whiffle Tree Quilts in Cupertino where nearly every interaction for 10 years was SUPER supportive of the craft. I was on a special outing with my granddaughter because she wants to learn to sew. However, upon entering...not a "hello", "welcome", "may I help you?", nor "If you need anything let us know" The store felt overcrowded and I had a difficult time finding what I needed, in addition, to having very poor maneuverability- it was not a pleasant experience. Also saw some cute patterns nicely arranged throughout the fabric. Not very many pre-cuts that I saw, and that was what I was looking for today. Love this place! They have an extensive group of Kaffe Fasset fabrics. These include The shot cottons, stripes, and multiple amounts of prints and a wide range and variety of colorways. In addition they have backing fabric that can coordinate that is a little bit more affordable. And absolutely fabulous array of these fabrics, I have not seen anywhere else in California. I'm not sure what other customers were talking about - the customer service to me was great. I felt that they acknowledged me, and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. She told me about an upcoming display she's going to have in the quilt show coming up in October, 2014 as well. Overall I found this to be an excellent Quilting store. Last month, I had the pleasure of visiting Golden State Quilting. The shop is thoughtfully and neatly laid out, with a wide selection of fabric to suit a lot of different tastes. I immediately headed to the sale/scrap section, where I found quality fabrics at very good prices. I also noticed that the shop stocks complete lines of some of my favorite blender fabrics, so some of those came home with me, too. Golden State Quilting is a Campbell gem. I'm a newbie to the craft so when I entered the store, I was immediately encouraged by all the ideas on the walls in the form of quilts that are offered through kits. I was greeted when I walked in by the store employees who were knowledgeable, helpful, thoughtful and kind. I've been in the store now several times and I've noticed the two owners play off their strengths as they have both been in this business for a long time. There is a myriad of fabric choices so there is something there for everyone. Between the fabric choices, classes, quilt inspiration on the walls, the helpful employees and the environment of other interesting quilters you can't go wrong. Also, they actually expanded their store - during a pandemic - so they must be doing something right! Keep it up! read more

I do not have anything like this shop in my new town so I will stop by anytime I return to Campbell.
