I had dealt with on-and-off knee pain for several years, along with a few small tears, and over time it significantly reduced my confidence to hike, bike, and work out the way I used to. I have always been a very active person and have completed challenging hikes in Yosemite as well as the Inca Trail. Getting back into the kind of shape where I could do those things again had started to feel almost impossible. Stephen worked with me patiently and diligently, step by step, showing me how to recover, rebuild strength, and regain confidence in my knees. What I especially appreciated was his willingness to answer all of my questions and explain the science behind what we were doing. He started by helping me understand something as fundamental as how pain receptors work in the knees and built from there. His combination of patience, knowledge, and a scientifically grounded approach gave me the confidence to become active again and work toward the things I love doing.

I tweaked my lower back earlier this year, and the injury kept me away from basketball and the…read moreweight room for at least 3 months. Landed oddly on a rebound and immediately felt something off in my right side lower back. I self-rehabbed at home, but couldn't get to a point where I had the confidence to lift or hoop confidently. I came to Progressive Motion hoping to assess my injury, gain the tools I needed to get back to hooping/lifting, and hopefully learn what I can do to prevent that injury in the future. Dr. Matt took good care of me, assessed my movement/jump, and gave me 4 drills to take back home and rebuild strength in my hips & lower back. It's been almost a month since my first appointment, and after doing these drills daily, I was able to get back on the court last weekend and run full-court 5s pain free. I'd highly recommend Progressive Motion for your physical therapy needs! Especially if you're a 'weekend warrior' hooper like me. Clean, state of the art facilities and the most cordial, knowledgeable professionals. Thank you PM team!

I never really considered seeing a physical therapist until I started working with Dr. Joey, and I'm so glad I did. During my sessions, we worked through targeted exercises and drills, along with cupping therapy, to improve my mobility and reduce pain. Dr. Joey took the time to educate me on the root causes of my issues and provided video demonstrations of exercises I could continue doing at home. Over time, I noticed a significant improvement in my range of motion and a reduction in pain, especially with everyday activities like bending down and picking things up from the floor. Now that Dr. Joey and Dr. Josh have opened their new facility in Redwood City, I've been able to continue my strength training while also rehabbing my knee in their gym. What really sets Progressive Motion apart is the integrated approach they offer. Not only do you have access to exceptional physical therapy, but there are also in-house personal trainers available to help guide you through your workouts. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive. Whether you have questions about exercise form, movement mechanics, or injury prevention, there is always someone available to help. It's reassuring to know you're surrounded by Licensed massage therapists, physical therapists, and personal trainers/strength coaches who share a common philosophy. As well as, individuals who genuinely care about helping you move and feel better. I highly recommend Progressive Motion to anyone looking for physical therapy, injury recovery, or simply a supportive environment to improve their strength and overall movement quality.

After she worked on my viscera, I immediately felt lighter on my stomach without the bloated feeling. While we did functional retesting, I could turn my trunk to both sides a lot easier, and bending backward also became easier. I am able to activate my core a lot faster after that single treatment while performing my gym routine. Right after the visceral work, my appetite immediately came back. The result lasted for weeks! On my second visit, I had acutely hurt my ankle during a intensive workout. In mid stance and terminal stance of walking (when my foot is on the ground) I had pain up to 6/10, and in active ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion (bending and pointing the ankle) was 4/10 pain. After she worked on my ankle, the pain was gone during walking and in closed kinetic chain gym exercises, while moving my ankle to end ranges in open chain went from 4/10 to 1/10 pain. Her touch is very soft but precise. Interpersonally, Sloane is an excellent active listener and knows how to make you feel very comfortable with her soothing tone of voice and expertise. Highly recommend!

I am totally impressed by P T Works and the work done by my therapist there, Michelle Nguyen. When…read moreI started with them a month ago, I was in sad shape, with the pain causing cardio problems. The diagnosis was spot on, and Michelle went to work. She gave me exercises to do every week and by the time we were almost through with therapy (less than one month of Medicare-paid treatment) I was 90% pain free, feeling fit, able to walk long distances and resume weights at the Y, along with the pool exercises, which also were highly recommended. I had a good report from my cardiologist, who agreed with me that the Physical Therapy, was in great part erasing problems there. I feel gratitude for Michelle's intelligence, knowledge, devotion to her work and her patients. Cherryl Pape Palo Alto

The clinic is always spotless, and the high ceilings provide excellent ventilation--much better than the cramped, gym-like feel of other PT places. What really keeps us coming back is the professionalism, kindness, and genuine dedication of the entire staff. Over the years, I've tried several other physical therapy clinics in the area, but none matched the quality of care and personal attention PT Works provides. Unfortunately, a few comparable places have shut down--unable to survive financially in the Bay Area. PT Works no longer accepts my insurance, but I believe that's part of how they're managing to stay open and maintain the high level of care. I'm happy to pay out of pocket, because keeping a place like this afloat is worth it.

I was still really thankful that she was able to squeeze me in for a month to help with my lower back/glute pain though. I work a desk job, so I'm often sitting without much movement throughout the day. One day, I noticed really bad pain in the left side of my lower back that ran through my leg, even felt some numbness in my foot on my worst days while sitting. Through a few sessions with Colleen, I've felt much improvement over the past few weeks and it has helped me so much. On our first visit, she assessed my posture, mobility, flexibility, etc. and was able to pinpoint where it was affecting me the most. She provided me with a structured treatment plan and recommended various stretches that I could do at home/at my desk. Since I've started the PT and stretching everyday, I definitely feel the difference. I've also been more intentional about moving around more throughout the workday, going back to the gym, and standing instead of sitting when I can. I really owe it to Colleen! She is super kind and knowledgable and has an amazing team that supports her and her PT practice. So grateful that I found this place for the short time that I needed her! :)
