Queene is a healer. This was my first time doing physical therapy and I feel embarrassed that I haven't done it after all these years. This review is a note to all of you to try it out. I learned more about my body in one session than anything I've learned from YouTube videos or AI in the past decade. We started the session off by going over my exercise and injury history. Then we went over what exercises I do and Queene chose a few of them that were likely causing me problems given my history. She has great experience and intuition about what's going on with my body. We went through the exercises and her intuition was right every single time. These exercises revealed imbalances between my left and right side that I had no idea about, and Queene helped adjust them with proper form and range of motion. She also added a few more exercises. All of this resulted in my body loosening up, with much better range of motion on my squat, and my lower back felt better after a previous tweak. Then, we did some massage and cupping, which was helpful for figuring out more things that were going on with my body. We finished with foam rolling to help address all of the issues that Queene found. At the end of the session, Queene asked if she could give me a hug. That tells you everything you need to know about the kind of person she is. I left the session impressed by Queene's depth of knowledge and her ability to give thoughtful feedback. Most importantly, her genuine care for others shined through--she took the time to educate me and help my body move better with less risk of injury. Her care for others extended beyond my session. When I was working out with a friend afterward, she took the time to teach him new movements and cues for his sports training. I can't say enough good things about Queene, Joey (the founder), and Progressive Motion as an organization. People there were friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. I have lower back pain from a disk injury I sustained lifting a few years back. I tried traditional hospital-based PT via the various health systems over the years (doing the usual stuff like clam shells, planks, hamstring stretches, etc), but sitting and lifting were still painful. I had basically given up and came to believe that I would be living in pain for the rest of my life. Eventually I stopped doing PT and would just pay lip service to the idea of it. It was only after I starting going to Progressive Motion and seeing Bryan Mai, who taught me about properly stacking my hip and ribcage and breathing into a hardened lower abdomen while lifting, along with proper form adjustments during specific movements like deadlifts, squats, etc, that I found that I could actually live life without recurring pain. I am now starting to believe once again that my physiotherapy exercises actually help, and do them consistently. I first worked with Dr. Bryan at Progressive Motion four years ago just after I had major back surgery when my L4 and L5 were fused. I am a 71-year-old female and recently I was told that I needed another fusion surgery - this time L3 and L4. I am currently waiting to get second and third opinions about that, but while I was waiting, I knew I needed to build up my strength. I was nervous about seeing a personal trainer because I couldn't risk making anything worse. (I have more issues than just my back!) I had a bad fall and strained a foot tendon really badly. My doc was nice but not nearly helpful enough so I went to see Matt L. He is the best PT I have ever seen. He not only quickly got to the root of what was going on and gave me the right exercises and stretches, but also helped me with general exercises I had given up on as I thought my body could no longer do them. I had a bunch of PT sessions left but after my last session I couldn't go back. The incident with my PT happened in 2023. I'm use to a trainer or doctor asking for consent before touching specific areas of my body but the therapist I had a few sessions with already just kind of went in and didn't really need to touch my glute during an exercise. I thought to myself it was really inappropriate. I didn't even want to text for a refund for my remaining sessions or reach out to any other staff because I just felt embarrassed about it. read more

I'm a 31 year old male and I play a lot of soccer. I've been working closely with a couple of PTs for about 4-5 years, but spring 2025 I had Achilles pain that wouldn't go away. I don't even know where to start! Finally! A place that has given me real hope and results and know I will get back to doing what I love. I'm a mom and former athlete. In the past 4 years I had 3 surgeries: knee surgery for a torn meniscus, hip surgery for a labral tear and bone spur and shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff. I also have 2 herniated discs in my lower back. My previous physical therapists only helped me to get some mobility back but there was no guidance for when my prescribed sessions were over. No one asking me how I was doing after my sessions were over. I was still dealing with muscle imbalances and my body was compensating for it. I had the best care at the Palo Alto's location. Dr Ro Urbino is an excellent professional. My first appointment I came with a lots changed of pain in my right feet. Pain was caused my sciatic nerve injury. Dr Ro guided me with therapies and exercises that helped me go through the pain. Once pain was gone, we started working on my balance, and proper movements. I was lucky to work with Ariana Antonio (PT, DPT, SCS) to rehab a running-related achilles injury. She genuinely cares about helping people return to the sports/activities they love. Ariana is incredibly thoughtful and detailed in her assessments and treatment approach. Unlike other PTs I had seen before, she created a personalized, effective plan that really addressed my needs as a runner. In the summer of 2021 I tore my calf at my boxing / muay thai gym. As a person who likes to spend 2hrs in the gym a couple days a week, I wanted a physical therapist specifically trained for sports related injuries to get me back on my feet ASAP. I really enjoyed my experience working with Dr. Roneil (Ro) Urbino! I'm relatively new to lifting weights, and wanted to address lower back pain and improve mobility to prevent future injuries. Ro listened intently to my goals and concerns and, after carefully assessing my body, recommended exercises and stretches that could help me alleviate my pain and more effectively warm up for weightlifting. He did an excellent job explaining how to do the exercises, how they engage my body, and how I can use different (everyday) objects so I can successfully do them at home or at the gym. He also emailed me my treatment plan, which included videos of my exercises for me to review when needed. On one of my sessions, he noticed how tight my muscles were and asked if I would be interested in more manual work to help loosen them. I really appreciated the massage therapy, stretches, cupping, and scraping to increase blood flow and loosen up my muscles--it felt great and I felt ready for my next workout! Throughout our sessions, I especially appreciated how Ro prioritized the significance of breath work to better engage my core, go deeper in my stretches, and incorporate in my workouts to prevent future injuries. After three sessions with Ro and warming up with the exercises he suggested, I've already noticed a marked improvement in my mobility and workouts and feel much more confident in my weightlifting! Lastly, I valued how Ro was interested in getting to know me as a whole person throughout our sessions and building rapport instead of only focusing on what appeared to be wrong. Not only did I feel like he genuinely cared about me as a client/person, I also believe this helped Ro better understand what might be contributing to my pain and allowed him to make more appropriate recommendations for treatment. This is the right place if you need any help with your muscles/joints. If you ask for Josh's help with knee or lower back pain, he might start with tests or exercises elsewhere in the body - which might seem odd at first. But if you stick with those, you'll find that it's by far your best shot at fixing the root cause of your issue for the long term, rather than short term pain killers. I grew up with scoliosis and all the downstream pain from the asymmetries - after working with him was the first time I was pain free and could got back to any of my big lifts again. I sought out Dr Drew because of the specialized work he talked about with the neck because my neck and upper back was bothering me so much from all the work I do as a Chef. During the initial exam, Dr. Drew could easily tell that my lower back and hips was in pain also but I didn't mention it on the paperwork because I didn't think what he could do would help. Dr. Drew gave my some stretching exercises to after the adjustment to regain my mobility. Now my posture has improved exponentially. What I appreciated the most was that he was upfront about what he thought it would take to help me. After just a few weeks I was feeling great and my back/neck pain symptoms were almost completely gone and my sleep has improved aswell . During my powerlifting training, I had knee pain that restricted me from doing heavy squats. I was worried because I was 3 weeks out from a powerlifting meet. I saw Roneil who first assessed me and made some recommendations on mobility and exercises to help strengthen the areas that would reduce the knee pain. After executing his recommendations, I was able to complete my powerlifting meet without any knee pain! I have had the pleasure of working with and continue to work with Cory Low a current employee for PMP. I had the opportunity to work with Roneil Urbino and it was as educational as it was restorative. I have had lingering lower back pain for many months and it was hindering my ability to be myself. After careful diagnosis and treatment, I was put on a plan that would require me to do exercises and stretches to help alleviate any discomfort. In September 2021, I injured my lower back and was hard to get out of bed. The next few months were very tough, but rewarding. I am a nursing student and is constantly sitting for my virtual classes and on my feet during clinicals. I started having pain on my lower back and was unable to do things due to my pain. I'm a full-time student and ever since shelter in place has started I've developed more wrist and back pain. I've been working with Ro at PMPT and he does a great job in being very clear and patient with me when it comes to teaching feasible exercises and stretches to do throughout my day. He helped me to see the importance of making time for movement throughout my day, especially since I am sitting down in front of my computer 75% of the time. I used to never want to exercise or do any type of movement, but now I have the urge to move and do some stretches a few times a day. He taught me a lot about total body CARs (controlled articular rotation) and I've loved getting to experience these slower, more focused movements to help my mobility. I am a student applying for PT school and a Personal Trainer. Where do i even begin with PMPT. Josh and Joey have been so helpful with fitness journey and recovery. My lower back issues have been slowing me down and after my consultation I had no idea it was because of my tight hips and hamstrings.
