I've been going to Bayside for over half a year and there have been a few changes over that time. Dr Anna has joined the team and become a welcome addition I feel. She isn't my primary chiropractor but provided amazing help whether it was going over exam results or adjusting me. She is easy to talk to and I feel comfortable trusting my back with her. Dr Eva has also brought Cathy to the team who is a friendly and welcoming face when you enter the office. In general I really appreciate all the personal touches Dr Eva and her team make whether it's the raffles, art, or decorations. I feel like I'm genuinely appreciated and cared for when I'm here. Lastly, Dr Sami has taken over as my primary chiropractor and truly is a gem. She has worked consistently on me for over half a year and has helped guide me back to a healthier place. In spite of the setbacks I've taken over that time, Dr Sami has made me feel like I can truly recover. This is evident in her personalized care, but shines brighter with her handling of tough matters. I have been a patient of Bayside Chiropractic since Oct 2011 (my husband since July 2009). WOW! That's a long time. 14 years for me. Dr Eva Chiu is professional, kind, knowledgeable and experienced. She has many patients but she remembers details like when we go on vacation and asks about it during the next visit. She has helped me 3 times when I urgently needed a same day appt or multiple appts in a week or a work-related injury. Her staff and associates have the same professionalism and warm bed side manner that patients appreciate very much. We don't have Chiro insurance so we buy the package of visits. Occasionally, our kids have needed adjustments, so we apply our package to their visits too. The office is clean and modern. I remember when there was a building fire years ago and Dr Eva Chiu had to close the office for repair and renovation and we went to her temporary location at another chiropractor's office in San Carlos. I've been to a few chiropractors over the years and this place is wonderful. Glad I stumbled upon them on Yelp. They do a great job of reviewing my images and explaining what exactly I need to do and what they're going to help with. Went to another place prior to and felt like I just got yanked on and that's about it. Front desk is helpful in a accommodating with a fluctuating schedule and nice they have weekends. Lots of insurances don't cover chiro care, which is fine, but this place is definitely worth it if you have to pay out of pocket. read more

TLDR; Beware, this place will use scare tactics about your spine and classic sales pressure to have you buy into care that you don't need. Get a second opinion or steer clear from them. I don't typically write reviews but I felt a strong moral obligation to let others know about my experience. I came in after having some lower back pain from lifting weights (squatting) and was looking for some immediate pain relief. I've been to 3 other chiropractors and several PTs in my life to have muscle relief from exercise when needed so this isn't my first rodeo. I just moved to the area and was looking for a new chiropractor. For a new patient, they required that I get an x-ray and had "a new patient consultation", which totaled 400 dollars. Sounded reasonable to me since I haven't had a back X-ray in a long time and I was in pain. That same session, they did work on a bit of my muscle and provided some relief but they asked me to come back the next day to review my X-rays. I come back in and they have all these nice diagrams showing that my 30 something year old back has "scoliosis" and is not straight in several parts and that I was seeing degeneration in my back and would not be able to be active in my middle age at this rate. They said that I needed to have 55 sessions of "adjustments", 3 days a week in order to remedy the situation. The total would be about 4k dollars, but if I chose to pay in full up front, they would give me 20% off the total. At this point, all the alarm bells going off in my head. Of course I'm concerned about my back health and of course I'd like to save 1000 dollars so that I can continue to do my hobbies and not be old and unable to be active. But also this seemed to be a high pressure sales situation, much like you'd feel in a car dealership. I pushed back on them and said I'll do a few sessions and take the deal later. They obliged and I had 3 sessions set up for the next week. In the mean time, as soon as I got home, I started working on second opinions. Before those second opinions, I had bayside do two adjustments. Both times I went, I was seen for 5 minutes, they cracked my back in 3 spots, and I was on my way with 85 dollars less in my wallet. No improvement in my pain levels. I got two second opinions. First was from another chiropractor down the road. They saw the X-rays and said everything looks normal and everybody's back isn't straight and there was nothing to worry about. For about the same price as bayside's "adjustment", he spend 15 minutes straightening every part of my spine and worked on my muscles. He said it's likely muscle tightness and that I don't even need to come back to see him and I was fine. He was right. My pain went away, much better than bayside could do after two sessions. I also went to UCSFs spine clinic with my X-rays. They told me that scoliosis is when the spine is off by about 10 degrees. Mine was only off by 3-4 and they also said my back looked normal and healthy and some PT would likely remedy the situation and to come back for an MRI if PT doesn't help. Everyone in Bayside was nice and friendly, but my whole experience backed up by two other spine professionals left me extremely disappointed with the scare tactics used to trick people into paying for care that they don't actually need. How someone could run a practice like this kind of integrity is just shocking. I hope this review saves someone's time, money, and stress. read more

Best chiropractor that I know of! I've been seeing chiropractors for over 10 years. I've had to C6 C7 and C4 C5 disc replacements. I've had a laminectomy and a microdiscectomy. Doctor Ava uses the perfect amount of pressure to adjust the disks, but not put any more strain than is necessary. I've had many chiropractors who use too much force while adjusting. Dr. Ava is a scientist with a spine. She has obtained her PHD, MASTERS in my mind! She supports the local community and is very involved. Family owned business. Anyone with complicated spines should see her. If you're thinking about having surgery, definitely see her first! If I would've known her 10 years ago, I would not have all these surgeries. Dr. Eva saved my life. I've met Dr. Eva after having a major pain in my lower back. She provided an ex-ray and analyzed my arthritis right away. None of the other orthopedic doctors/chiropractors I've seen before were able to see this: they didn't catch this development and the cause of my ongoing pain. I am very disappointed in the service I received. I booked my first appointment with Bayside because of the all the good Yelp reviews. They charge $237 for evaluation plus $80 for x-rays. Dr. Lisa then proceeds to tell me that we will discuss the treatments I will need on my next appointment. This brought me to tears as I did not want to leave the office with the pain that originally brought me there. She then said she can do an adjustment for me but that will be $75 extra. So all together, I paid $392 for an hour that I was there. Expect a lot of stupid questions like did you ever sprain your ankle. I'm 50 years old, of course I've had them sometime in my life. The evaluation/examination took maybe 10 minutes where she checked my alignment. I do not recommend this place. read more

In just a few appointments the pain was all but gone, and they've been able to keep it away notwithstanding a few long flights, increased exercise, long drives and other stressors. The actual chiropractor was fine. Business practices are a little questionable. The young man at the front desk was nice until I started asking about my coverage. My fault for not checking myself before I went there. I thought I was getting a deal, the Facebook deal. Then I see on yelp I could have gotten a better deal, a check in offer. Would have been nice to know that while I was there. I actually paid much more than I expected, $78 dollars more. And when I asked the young man when I was paying he responded that they were not in network. He tells me I don't talk about my coverage with him, the doctor talks to me about it. That makes zero sense. I gave him my information including insurance card, why didn't he look it up when I was there? Now that I know they not in network I will pay a lot more and get fewer sessions. That's okay. I found another chiropractor who is in network an hour later. The office staff let me know she will have all my coverage info before my appointment begins so that I can make an informed decision. I suggest the Bayside staff be clear about all possible costs before the exam begins. I hope I still get the x rays I paid for in full! read more

I was having some shoulder and neck pain for a while due to bad posture. I went to see Dr. Eva and we went through an initial evaluation and did some x-rays. Dr. Eva walked me through what she was seeing and suggested a treatment plan. After about 9 months of seeing her, I could gradually see improvement in my neck and shoulder pain. She's also incredibly professional and just the nicest person! She listens and takes the time to understand exactly what's bothering you and then explains everything to you. The Dr.s are so knowledgeable and thorough, taking x-rays and going in depth with how they can help you.
