I waited a bit to write a review in order to be able to better comment after a year with my pal and her ability to adapt to a new home, interact with people and dogs, and trainability. I could not be happier! On all levels, Birdie (born Harper on Christmas day 2024 for those interested in lineage), has been nothing short of a delight. What a joy! She loves people. She loves animals. She loves her toys. She's a real character. A purebred goofball. Folks immediately comment on her intellect, cuteness, and affable personality. She is the talk of the neighborhood and beyond. A few have urged me to get her onto the big screen and another breeder who shows dogs even remarked that she is 'show quality' in appearance and demeanor, further requesting contact information for Golden Meadows which I happily provided. These pups are bursting with personality and she makes me laugh every day. She has been very easy to train and we are looking to have her become a therapy dog so others can also share in and benefit from her loving nature. It just overflows. Both the breeders and process are highly commendable - even, or especially, as I had to complete the transaction from across country. I have recommended them to a number of folks. I always highlight that the description of their pups are spot on. It is clear that they take the time to get to know and care for them individually. As for health, even though we went through a few issues early on (an initial bout of Giardia and due to her eating something she wasn't supposed to as puppies do - she was sneaky and quick), the Vets all say how healthy she looks and checks out in examinations. She is a hit at the vets' office, never having had an issue and always being compliant during examinations and beyond. Do not hesitate to use Golden Meadows! The puppy was NOT microchipped, nor Crate trained. Suffering from serious social anxiety as the puppy was NOT socialized up to 6 months old. This is when the puppy was purchase. I got a Golden Retriever puppy that was born Feb 2021, half classic golden and half English cream. She's my dream dog, and everything I hoped for. I had requested a dog that was more of a calm companion than a sporting buddy, and she fit the request perfectly. She's extremely sweet, attentive, and healthy! There's not much more I could ask for on the positives. Excellent quality dog with great matching. I am constantly approached by strangers, from children, to grown men and women, to veterinary professionals, to tell me "beautiful dog!" I have met 3 other owners who have purchased dogs from Golden Meadows. 1 Vizsla and 2 Goldens, and they all had positive experiences. The Vizsla was even born at the same time as my pup and they seemed to recognize each other and jump into play immediately. They also shared a story of finding a medical issue once they brought the puppy home, and the breeder immediately covered all costs to treat the issue. There are cons. The one I will probably be dealing with for life is how many strangers approach to say hi, and do not seem to even know I exist. It's common for my dog to be at the car window, and a random old lady pull up and start using loud baby speak . Her coat is also a bit curly which makes keeping it nice a bit harder. More serious negatives were the price (although completely worth it) which I expect makes their dogs less accessible to many, and others expecting near perfection. The health guarantee provided is also contingent on you buying food and supplements from a Multi-Level Marketing company, which I found to be decent quality, but way overpriced. This didn't take away from my overall rating because I think it's a fair practice for the quality of dog, but I found it to be a bit unsavory. read more

While she isn't a licensed therapy dog, she definitely provides a daily serotonin boost to not only me but many people we interact with. Our puppy is 9 months old now and she is the best dog (I'm an experienced dog owner). I get a lot of compliments on how gorgeous and well behaved she is. Golden Meadows did an excellent job socializing her to people and animals. She seems to really adore young children and is so patient when my son gently holds her tail or feet (I discourage it, but it happens). I actually got this puppy at no charge because our first puppy from Golden Meadows passed away mysteriously. After all the rigorous testing and scans, the vet wasn't sure what had happened. Still, Tim offered to replace the puppy which I appreciated as honest and good business. My take is: we went with a breeder because we wanted a certain quality of dog with a predictable demeanor. As parents of a young child this was important to us. We went with Golden Meadows because they seemed to care for their animals well and held a high bar on quality. It's understandable to me that, given the number of puppies they have each year (for people who waiting for them), there's some variation and some unpredictability. That's how the natural world is. While we were sad that our first puppy had passed, I don't think anyone could have foreseen or prevented it. I think Tim and Golden Meadows have been honest and trustworthy. You will need to train them and then train them some more. It's worth it. Meet Pancakes. We adopted him two years ago from Golden Meadows and we now can't imagine our lives without him. He is a big strong healthy English Cream Golden Retriever. He's our big lovable goofball. He has the perfect temperament. He is gentle, great around kids and other dogs. He's playful and, lazy lap dog. He's really smart and well trained once we put in the effort. But he can also be kind of a dummy. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. This is the kind of dog you can get from Golden Meadows. The adoption process was straight forward, but also a little unusual. You do not get to chooseth exact puppy of the litter. You fill out a survey about your lifestyle and pair you with a pup whose temperament fits you. We did not really believe it at first but trust me, it works. We can't possibly imagine what it would be if we were paired with another dog. The one thing we did not anticipate when getting him is just how much attention he gets when we are out in public. Meadows and after a lot of vet bills to cure the parasites, bowel problems, a sensitive stomach, aggressive behavior towards other dogs and indifference to people to name a few I should have known better. I was raised with goldens all my life, all coming from a excellent local breeder with very mellow, friendly and sensitive nature's. It was frankly a shock to have this dog. Of course, I have grown to love him but the signs were all there before adoption. Some of the major problems with this facility: -You cannot pick your puppy - red flag! -no refundable deposit once placed even if you don't want the dog -Site visits not encouraged -one visit allowed to view parents -visit occurred in a "staged area" of lawn with fencing and sitting area - no one to answer questions or greet you - no access to facilities strictly forbidden - employee brings out the father - beautiful but indifferent personality, not friendly, didn't care about being petted (something was off) -mother not seen but 2 similar females were caged nearby and not allowed out -again they were rather indifferent unlike a golden It is my personal belief with no proof, just instinct, that most of the dogs are caged most of the time in a larger facility in the back. They are not properly socialized, used for breeding only, strictly controlled, not a lot of attention paid to systematic breeding of positive personality traits but rather beauty. The puppies receive no desensitization training. While I do love my dog of course, it has the same traits I observed in the father and it has been a struggle. I purchased my first Golden from them .I named him Bentley .....he was exceptional, I did therapy dog work with him in retirement homes, and hospitals, he was even the first dog to be on hand at the Parkland school shooting. ......He was brought on this earth to spread cheer ,and make people smile.I even wrote a childrens learning book "A Day In the Life Of Bentley" It had peen published ,and Barnes and noble have it in their store.I'm so proud lol . Maybe this isn't actually the case, but it feels like my partner and I were scammed. We put a $500 deposit down on September 25, 2020, where we were told that the wait time would be about 2-4 months. We have only received 2 updates since, one of which we received because I reached out first. Then we were told on February 10, 2021, the second update, that due to Mother Nature, the dogs weren't able to have puppies yet, which I completely understand. However, building up to that update in February, there was a complete lack of communication. I called almost monthly to see if I can get any updates on our future pup, but it was difficult to get a hold of anyone. Ultimately, we were sent a mass email on February 10, 2021 telling us that we would be contacted in another 2-4 months, and we haven't heard back since. It has been almost 9 months since we put that deposit down. Again, I completely understand that these things happen according to Mother Nature's rules, and we did agree to the nonrefundable deposit, but I feel that paying the amount that we did along with the amount that we intended pay to wait for an unforeseeable amount of time with little to no contact is unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

November 15, 2020 Update Harry (parents: Vincent & Hildi) and CeCe (parents: Carver & Fiona) are now 3 1/2 years and doing GREAT. Finally acclimating to the Florida humidity. :-) We found out that CeCe LOVES to swim (and Harry doesn't!). Vizslas are not very common breed here in Florida. We have had the pleasure of owning 2 golden retrievers from Golden Meadows Retrievers. Oir first girl, Leisel, was born in 2004 and we had her for almost 12 years. Zhe was the perfect dog. We recently decided it was time to add a new puppy to our family. We reached out to Golden Meadows to see if there were any lotters available. The process of applying for the master list and the communication about expected litters was fantastic. We were hand matched with our little puppy, Gretl, in September 2020 and could not be more pleased. Gretl now that she is 16 weeks old. She is absolutely amazing and such a cuddle bug. Her temperment is fabulous. She is completely house broken and sleeps in her crate from 10:00 pm - 6:30 am. She has mastered, commands including: sit, leave it, off, no jump, down, and is learning "army crawl". She is also good in a sit/stay for about 30 seconds. Gretl is great in the car and enjoys short trips around town. The neighbors love her and we cannot imagine our house without her. Our vet is so impressed with her calm nature and we adore her. BUYER BEWARE! Purchased a "fully trained young adult dog" here and this dog was a complete disaster! After paying an exorbitant amount, the dog arrived at 6 months old and was supposed to be fully trained. This dog was NOT trained anywhere near to standard they promised, the only command it knew reliably was "sit" and that's it. This was a golden retriever that ATE ITS OWN EXCREMENT CONSTANTLY, was AGGRESSIVE, NOT housebroken, destroyed furniture, baseboards, and was afraid of the crate plus many other issues. I have trained other golden retrievers from puppyhood before so I know what I'm doing. I never once left this dog alone as I work from home, it had constant supervision, care and attention. I attempted to rehabilitate this dog but once it started showing UNPROVOKED AGGRESSION specifically to male visitors (ferocious barking, nipping, lunging, biting) it had to be returned to this awful breeder. They should be ashamed of themselves. GUESS WHAT GOLDEN MEADOWS RETRIEVERS DID when they got this dog back? They immediately relisted it for sale and added $5000 to the price! I feel sorry for whomever ended up paying to get this disaster of a dog, I hope that they can give it the rehabilitation it needs and it doesn't hurt anyone. A few months ago we were blessed with the newest addition to our family. We knew we wanted a cream golden retriever so naturally we did our homework. Golden Meadows was hands down the best choice for us. They have been so wonderful in communicating with us from day one. They are all very nice and informative and have been in ongoing communication with us.
