I've been coming to this particular location for about 4 years. I've tried other location (Lawrenceville & Kennesaw) but this location is my favorite. The ladies that work here are usually really nice and helpful. I come almost every single Sunday and I order the same exact meal, SaltFish & Ackee w bar food. It comes with 2 boiled dumplings, yam and banana. It reminds me of some of the best parts of my childhood. I absolutely love the food. No diet cola, no unsweetened tea, only a few kinds of patties, only had two dumplings left which are not dumplings, they were just baked rounds of bread. Maybe in the Caribbean this is considered a dumpling but I don't know. That aside the food was... not good. The beef patty had some kind of dark brown slurry in it with no beef. It maybe had the essence of beef but tastes terrible. Same with the chicken patty, slurry with no meat, didn't even taste like chicken. I simply must give this place a one-star even though the food was outstanding. The service, however, was the WORST I have experienced in a very long time. Arrived at the location and no one is the line. I waited under the "Order here" sign. An employee finally came out and stood there. When another customer walked in she walked over and started to serve her and completely overlooked us. When informed her we were there first, she looked totally annoyed. This is totally unacceptable. I typically come to a Golden Krust (a different location) to get beef patties. And I have driven past this one plenty of times and never thought to stop. I came with a friend on the way to an obligation to get some breakfast. She dates a Jamaican and frequents Golden Krust. So she purchased us some spinach patties. I was apprehensive at first, but decided if she like them I'd try. Plus, they couldn't be any worse than a beef patty. Needless to say, it was so good. I'll be getting another and trying some more foods. The food smelled sooooooo good in there that I HAVE to come back. They also give good service that makes you feel like you're speaking to your "auntie". The place gives me great Jamaican vibes. I've been about three time because it's close to my job and all the workers in the back move very slow like they don't care if they serve you or not. They are very rude when taking your Order and cashing you out. Food is decent when it first comes out. If it has been sitting for a while it gets dry and they will serve you the dry food. I stood around for 5 mins. They were busy. I understood. I work in the service industry. When the manager finally acknowledged me at 7:25 she informed me that she didn't have all of my order. She said she thought I wasn't coming and sold part of my order to someone else. Mind you I've already paid for this order. She then tries to sell me in another product and I declined. The worst of it all was I called to tell them and ask for some sort of compensation when I returned but the woman who answered the phone was so rude telling me that "her oxtails are not tough" and asking me if they were "falling off the bone"???? This location has HORRIBLE customer service and is EXTREMELY slow!! The food is already cooked and it should not take 10-15 minutes to complete an order in the drive thru. My sister whipped the Saturn into the parking lot before I could object and there we were. When you first walk in, you are met with the tantalizing aroma of curry and jerk. My sister chose the small Curry Chicken and chicken patty, and I selected the small Jerk Chicken. I wanted to play it safe since I had never eaten here before. The specials come with your choice of white rice or rice and peas, steamed veggies(cabbage, corn, peas, carrots, and green beans), and plantains. My entree was $8.99, which is a fair price for the amount of food you get. We had more than enough to last us for a while. The food was hot and delicious! I did not eat much of the steamed veggies, because I don't care for my veggies to be all mixed together like that...had I known that they were mixed, I would have asked for extra plantains instead of the veggies. Speaking of plantains, they were sooooo good! They were a little sweet, with the edges being cooked so they were slightly caramelized. The chicken was seasoned well, with a little heat to it. I tasted my sister's Curry Chicken and it. was. delicious! She really enjoyed her patty, as well. My only issue was that the trash can was very full, and it was hard to discard what trash we had when we got ready to leave. I only got a spinach patty from here and let me tell you it was delicious. All spinach with a good balance of crust. The crust looked like it was made out of wheat or something else light and healthy. There was spices in the patty that gave it some yummy flavor and made it a tiny bit spicy. My family and I was so disappointed to we just threw the food away because I had driven so far away till it wasn't even feasible to return to take it back so we had to eat left overs that was in the frig, my family and I don't eat out all the time so this was heart breaking. I know it's the lunch special but she only gave two little pieces of chicken and a whole bunch of rice. What am I going to do with all that rice and no meat? OMG!!!!! Why go anywhere else?!?! Their food is fresh and authentic. I would never go to any other location or eat anywhere else that sells Jamaican food. Plus, their health score is always high and no major issues. On Friday and Saturdays they even have checheme / hominy porridge!!! Their fruit juices are delicious strong and sweet. This was my second time going & basically I feel I paid $10 for rice&peas & bones! I got the curry goat with little meat. Let me start off by saying the food is great which is why I drive over 45min on a Sunday to get their breakfast but on the other hand the service is horrible...I visited this restaurant on a Sunday for their breakfast and received the worst customer service from a server named Opal. Long story short she told me they were out of a particular food and went out of her way prepare the same item I had requested for another customer who was in front of me in line. When thy customer got to the register to pay he didn't have the money for pay for the food so she went out of her way and sneakingly put away the food for that customer who promised to return to the restaurant to pay....now I'm watching this play out right in front of my face...so when I got to the register I said I thought you were out of the food I wanted she said yes, then I said but I just saw you put it away for that customer who just left, she said yes he is coming back with the money...with a confused look on my face I asked her so you are "holding" food for someone who is supposedly coming back to pay when I asked for the same item and I have be cash in hand to pay...she said yes he's coming back and he ordered before you... and refused to sell me the food. Now the last time I checked we can't tell the future and she did not know if he was in fact coming back to pay, so she ultimately turned down a paying customer off of a promise to pay...that makes absolutely no business sense. As a business you make money/ revenue when a customer pays for goods with cash not a PROMISE ! Her pay check is based of paying customers not I OWE YOUS ... Her attitude is nasty and rude and ultimately costed this restaurant a regular PAYING customer. The level of service a customer receives at an establishment determines whether or not they will return. I hope the manager or owner of this restaurant is reading this review and makes the necessary changes in order to keep your remaining customers coming back. Jamaican staple. Pretty shocked i never reviewed this place seeing as I've been coming here almost daily since 2007. Nice staff and better food than the location in Snelleville on 124. Also nicer staff than on 124. Fresh porridge, the callalloo and saltfish is nice. Don't care too much for their oxtail, and I do not eat curry from anyone but a Trini, so I can't comment on their curry. I normally find fault with all Jamaican prepared curry. Their ackee and saltfish is OK. Not the best, not the worst, and their portions are small, though the price is steep. Porridge is always piping hot and nice. Call ahead to make sure they have, bc it does sell out fast. I'd agree, my go-to yardie spot, and it nice to buy some harddough bread and seamoss while in there.
