I purchased a Golden Krust bun from my local farmers market Nam Dae Mun on Memorial dr, Stone Mountain ga. On 4/14/20 a few days after I bought the bun, I made a sandwich and took it to work. I offered a college a half of the sandwich, about halfway though eating the bun I bit on something but didn't pay it too much attention as they normally have some little black tings in the buns. I continue chewing then I felt something stuck n stretched me. I spat out everything in my mouth on the napkin the remainder of the sandwich was on. Then I started to look for what had stocked me, there was a metal nail in the bun. I was so shocked, all kinds of what ifs started I run through my head. I was so frightened and upset at the same time, how can they missed something like this. I could have died, better yet if it was my college she probably thought I was try to do something to her. I google and called the bakery, they told me to bring the bun and speak to a manger there. I did what was told, go to the store, informed a rep of what happened, she stated she does not understand how that could have happened. She stated they have metal detectors that scanned the products and it may have being from one of the ingredients. She took the nail to the managers in the back then returned and told me the manager would come out and speaking to me. Let me tell you, the manage never made it to me, they told the rep to give me a refund and a new bun. No form of sympathy, nothing. This will be my last time ever eating from this place. I've been coming to this particular location for about 4 years. I've tried other location (Lawrenceville & Kennesaw) but this location is my favorite. The ladies that work here are usually really nice and helpful. I come almost every single Sunday and I order the same exact meal, SaltFish & Ackee w bar food. It comes with 2 boiled dumplings, yam and banana. It reminds me of some of the best parts of my childhood. I absolutely love the food. I'm currently living in Duluth so I drive about 30 min or more for this food. They have all of your Jamaican favorites and the food is ALWAYS delicious. read more

No diet cola, no unsweetened tea, only a few kinds of patties, only had two dumplings left which are not dumplings, they were just baked rounds of bread. Maybe in the Caribbean this is considered a dumpling but I don't know. That aside the food was... not good. The beef patty had some kind of dark brown slurry in it with no beef. It maybe had the essence of beef but tastes terrible. Same with the chicken patty, slurry with no meat, didn't even taste like chicken. I understand that the food is not expensive but when was the last time you went to MacDonald's and the burger wasn't good? I went to this location today and no one was in the drive thru line, which made me happy that I would get really fast service. I ordered a mild beef patty and was told they were OUT of beef patties! I typically come to a Golden Krust (a different location) to get beef patties. And I have driven past this one plenty of times and never thought to stop. I came with a friend on the way to an obligation to get some breakfast. She dates a Jamaican and frequents Golden Krust. So she purchased us some spinach patties. I was apprehensive at first, but decided if she like them I'd try. Plus, they couldn't be any worse than a beef patty. Needless to say, it was so good. I'll be getting another and trying some more foods. The food smelled sooooooo good in there that I HAVE to come back. They also give good service that makes you feel like you're speaking to your "auntie". The place gives me great Jamaican vibes. The customer service here is horrible. They are very slow. I've been about three time because it's close to my job and all the workers in the back move very slow like they don't care if they serve you or not. They are very rude when taking your Order and cashing you out. Food is decent when it first comes out. If it has been sitting for a while it gets dry and they will serve you the dry food. I stood around for 5 mins. They were busy. I understood. I work in the service industry. When the manager finally acknowledged me at 7:25 she informed me that she didn't have all of my order. She said she thought I wasn't coming and sold part of my order to someone else. Mind you I've already paid for this order. She then tries to sell me in another product and I declined. I then asked for a refund and she said that I couldn't get one through her. It would take a while for it to come back. I complete understood the situation. It was her demeanor about it. The worst of it all was I called to tell them and ask for some sort of compensation when I returned but the woman who answered the phone was so rude telling me that "her oxtails are not tough" and asking me if they were "falling off the bone"???? Meanwhile, I spent $70 in "her" restaurant plus I am certain that other people had to have complained. I don't know if this is "authentic" or if it's Caribbean-America, but I like it! I haven't had Caribbean food since 2006, and was a little skeptical of trying Golden Krust. My sister whipped the Saturn into the parking lot before I could object and there we were. When you first walk in, you are met with the tantalizing aroma of curry and jerk. It was fairly busy as well, so I took this to be a good sign. Tip: There are two registers, the one on the right is for cash and the other on the left is for debit/credit. My sister chose the small Curry Chicken and chicken patty, and I selected the small Jerk Chicken. I wanted to play it safe since I had never eaten here before. The specials come with your choice of white rice or rice and peas, steamed veggies(cabbage, corn, peas, carrots, and green beans), and plantains. My entree was $8.99, which is a fair price for the amount of food you get. We had more than enough to last us for a while. The food was hot and delicious! I did not eat much of the steamed veggies, because I don't care for my veggies to be all mixed together like that...had I known that they were mixed, I would have asked for extra plantains instead of the veggies. Speaking of plantains, they were sooooo good! They were a little sweet, with the edges being cooked so they were slightly caramelized. The chicken was seasoned well, with a little heat to it. I tasted my sister's Curry Chicken and it. was. delicious! She really enjoyed her patty, as well. My only issue was that the trash can was very full, and it was hard to discard what trash we had when we got ready to leave. My family and I was so disappointed to we just threw the food away because I had driven so far away till it wasn't even feasible to return to take it back so we had to eat left overs that was in the frig, my family and I don't eat out all the time so this was heart breaking. I only got a spinach patty from here and let me tell you it was delicious. All spinach with a good balance of crust. The crust looked like it was made out of wheat or something else light and healthy. There was spices in the patty that gave it some yummy flavor and made it a tiny bit spicy. I came during lunch on a Wednesday. I got the $5.99 lunch special. one was curry chicken the other was stew chicken. I know it's the lunch special but she only gave two little pieces of chicken and a whole bunch of rice. What am I going to do with all that rice and no meat? OMG!!!!! Why go anywhere else?!?! Their food is fresh and authentic. I would never go to any other location or eat anywhere else that sells Jamaican food. Plus, their health score is always high and no major issues. On Friday and Saturdays they even have checheme / hominy porridge!!! Their fruit juices are delicious strong and sweet. I think this will be my last time going to this one. I prefer the one on Old National simply because I feel I get my money's worth there. This was my second time going & basically I feel I paid $10 for rice&peas & bones! I got the curry goat with little meat. I wasn't planning to stop here in the first place but I came all the way over to that side & the place I wanted wasn't open so I decided to give this place another try. I've been a long time customer here, ever since they moved into this space. I'm still a loyal customer, but it seems that the quality of the hot food items has become more inconsistent of late. I still love the prepackaged baked goods (spiced buns are my favorite). However, I'd love to see more attention paid to the flavor, quantity, and quality of the items on the line.
