This is the nastiest Jamaican food I've ever had in my entire life!!! I make Jamaican food often (sell it) and I grew up eating it. Oxtail is my favorite but the oxtail here tasted burnt, flavorless and it was tough! the lady who made my plate, picked through the oxtail one by one and later on I realized why. It's because she picked all of the FATTY bones thinking I didn't know any better probably because I had a proper american accent and I look Hispanic but I'm not. I found out about this company at a Dollar Tree in Nevada (I know, random). I purchased a frozen vegetable patty and fell in love. Fast forward to my first visit to a physical restaurant. I was greeted when I entered, and the staff (although ignorant about their products) were friendly and as helpful as they could be. I inquired what was in the spinach patty and soya patty. I was told they don't serve soya patties, then I directed the woman to look at their menu board. She seemed shocked and stated, oh we don't have those. Nonetheless, I ordered a spinach patty, vegetable patty and side of cabbage. Spinach Patty: flaky on the outside, creamy and perfectly seasoned on the inside. A Vegetable Patty: flaky on the outside, well-seasoned vegetables inside. Comparable to the frozen version, but more expensive in restaurant. B+ Cabbage: cooked with corn, bell peppers and peas. I am excited to see Golden Krust as they are one of my favorite Caribbean restaurants from Florida. However, like all chains they are subjective to the franchise and products. Today I had their lunch special, brown stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage and plantains for $5.99. I will post the picture! It was a large portion and very yummy! The seasonings were on point and flavor was good. I didn't taste any coconut milk in the rice and peas but honestly it is pleasantly surprising when I find it cooked that old school way! I also added a small carrot juice for $3.99 which was yummy! The reason they lost a star is when I asked for extra gravy she just slopped it on top and in the portion of the tray where the cabbage went. So my cabbage was souped up in gravy! I will definitely be going back since forturnately or unfortunately they are across from my gym! LoL read more

I am somewhat new to Caribbean food, but a coworker suggested this place. I have been here several times when I am in the area. The restaurant is small to medium and has adequate seating because many customers carry out their orders. They have some good lunch options for $5.99. The portion sizes are good, I usually have a small portion left to save for later. The curry chicken, rice & peas, and cabbage is what I have ordered most. I have tried the spinach patties and a few of the desserts (cake). I have not had a bad experience with the food. It has always been fresh. The staff is okay, a bit direct, but they have not been rude to me during any of my trips there. They are located in a plaza with Kroger, so there is a lot of parking. read more

The food was good but man let me tell you they had probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I can't speak for the other ladies because they seemed nice but the big one with short hair needs a new profession. She got upset and called me inconsiderate because I asked for coco bread...something that takes no more than 30 seconds to take out and put in the already OPEN bag. I was so taken aback by her attitude I thought she had to be joking. And the cherry on top is that at the end she made it a point to make sure she was the one to ring me up. it came out to $45 which seemed like way too much but I wanted to leave ASAP because of her attitude so I didn't ask about it. but when I calculated what I bought it came out to nowhere near $45. I had the stewed chicken with peas and rice and I had them put the curry sauce off of the goat onto my rice and for dessert I had a gizzarda. Overall the food was good. the staff was friendly and the portion size was also really big for the price. I paid almost $10 for everything the meal was 7.99 plus tax and the gizzarda was $1.79. I've been there 2 times this week at 2 different times and they were out of beef patties. The customer service isn't the best. It's like they hate working there. I absolutely love this Golden Krust restaurant in McDonough because the food is delicious. I especially love the jerk chicken and oxtails. The icing on the cake to my visit is Sadie who works there. Sadie is always happy and very welcoming. Prior to Covid19, Sadie would express her joy by singing songs as she prepared my food. It really made my day to see her so joyful and happy to serve. This is my first time trying Golden Krust and I have to say I am not disappointed at all! I'm not a Jamaican food connoisseur but I do love me some oxtail. I have tried various other places and I really like the oxtail here. The meat is very tender and falls off the bone easily so I don't have to fight with it with my teeth. Lol. Portion is huge too! I came in because I was familiar with the Golden Krust in Morrow, GA, and wanted a Beef patty. Pros: The staff was pretty friendly. There are lots of delicious looking entree options. They had a good selection of patties. I ordered a mild beef patty and a spinach patty, and I liked the flavor of both. They both were seasoned well, and had a kick. Next time, I would like to try the oxtail plate. It seemed to to be the favorite among-st other customers that were ordering ahead of me, and the reason behind my 10-15 minute wait to order my two patties. Cons: The time it took to get in and out was too long, due to only two people taking orders and making plates, and stuff not being ready, I am assuming. The food is not made to order (Think cafeteria style or food court line) unless you order something uncommon like snapper, etc. So the patties were literally ready to go, but I had to wait a long time because of the people ordering dinner plates. Also, my beef patty and spinach patty were extremely flaky. They were warm, but maybe the warmer caused the bread to be very flaky, thus leaving crumbs everywhere when I ate them, and making it a tad but dry (in some areas), even though the filling itself was tasty. Overall, I may try another Caribbean spot before coming here, but would not be opposed to coming back if I was in the area, and saw a shorter chance of waiting. read more

So I had the taste for some Jamaican patties. I stopped by here and decided to get the veggie patty as well as a shrimp patty. The prices are pretty decent for the patties. The veggie patty is $2.20 and the shrimp patty is $2.65. I had never had the shrimp patty and wasn't really sure how I would like it but it was super duper tasty. I was definitely a little disappointed with the veggie patty, which had a lot of the frozen mixed vegetables in it, which I tend not to like. Definitely was not authentic, definitely was not homemade, and I definitely will not order it again. Both were very flaky, which was a plus. The restaurant was busy, so I'm assuming the rest of the food is really good. I've never had it so I can't speak much on that. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was also friendly. I did like how they put the patties inside a wrapper that specified which patty I had. Definitely plan to return to get the shrimp patty only. read more

When I first started coming here a few months ago it was a really good place to come since it's so convenient to my home. Now! Almost everytime I come in they are always out of something. It's an hour and a half before closing and their putting chairs up no food ready or even attempting to make any more. Came here for the first time the other day around lunch time, place was fairly busy. Having never been there before, I asked a couple of very quick, basic questions to make sure I understood the menu and the employee helping me acted like my friend and I were nothing but problems. She spoke very quietly but got frustrated when I couldn't hear her and then was giving us trouble about not ordering certain things, it felt really weird and unnecessary. Just left my first visit to the new location on Jonesboro road, 7/2/2018@ 1700 hours. Absolutely the worst customer service. Sever picking over the Oxtail to find smaller pieces. Not a good look putting food on spoon and putting the food back. The other lady at the register was too busy looking out the window watching a lady struggle with her child. People were lined up in front of the cashier and she was steady looking out the window. The lady serving us the oxtail stopped in the middle of putting the picked over oxtails and went to the back,never excusing her self or promptly coming back. It was just too much to take. I like this restaurant but everytime i come in they never have beef patties. And today I called and asked about spicy beef patties they told me 25 min. I waited 30 minutes went in and they said 20 min. So I waited.
