I found out about this company at a Dollar Tree in Nevada (I know, random). I purchased a frozen vegetable patty and fell in love. Fast forward to my first visit to a physical restaurant. I was greeted when I entered, and the staff (although ignorant about their products) were friendly and as helpful as they could be. I inquired what was in the spinach patty and soya patty. I was told they don't serve soya patties, then I directed the woman to look at their menu board. She seemed shocked and stated, oh we don't have those. Nonetheless, I ordered a spinach patty, vegetable patty and side of cabbage. Spinach Patty: flaky on the outside, creamy and perfectly seasoned on the inside. A Vegetable Patty: flaky on the outside, well-seasoned vegetables inside. Comparable to the frozen version, but more expensive in restaurant. B+ Cabbage: cooked with corn, bell peppers and peas. Seasoned well and generous portion given. B+ I would come here again. I saw a coconut pie near the register that looked really good. read more

Where to start????? The food was warm if that! My oxtails had NO FLAVOR!!!!! Never in my life have i ever had to add SALT to Jamaican food to give it some flavor!!!!!!! The best thing was the cold plantain! The rice had zero flavor and was hard. I would normally give a second try to any restaurant but this is definitely a one and done for me! The staff..... one was counting her registers right there while the other was working. The working lady had an unpleasant disposition about herself! I hope it's nothing else, her day gets better and pray the same for the food, but i will not know the results of either! read more

Golden Krust - Oxtails plate - Caribbean Near Me - McDonough, Georgia

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - GOLDEN KRUST, McDONOUGH, GA Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant 315 Jonesboro Road McDonough, GA Store: 678-834-5082 I came into this location around 3:00 PM on September 8, 2026, and placed an order for chicken noodle soup with dumplings. I specifically asked for more than one dumpling because I have ordered this soup before and they never seem to put enough dumplings in it. I also ordered one spicy beef patty and one vegetable patty. The young lady taking my order said okay. When I got home, I discovered that there was only ONE dumpling in my soup, and instead of receiving one spicy beef patty and one vegetable patty, I received TWO spicy beef patties. My order was wrong. I called the store back and asked to speak with a manager so I could address the issue. Instead of getting assistance, the young lady hung up on me. That is completely unacceptable customer service. Mistakes can happen with orders, but how a customer is treated when trying to resolve the mistake matters just as much. I am extremely disappointed with this experience and, based on this interaction, I will not be going back to this location. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and given the opportunity to have their concerns addressed. Golden Krust management: Please address the customer service at this location. read more

The food was horrible the customer service was just TERRIBLE. They need training on how to interact with customers. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. The female employee had a very NASTY attitude. The ox tails had no flavor. The cabbage with peas corn and carrots was overcooked, very soft. The rice and beans was gummy no flavor, I will never EVER patronize this place again!!! The female was touching her phone right at the counter. No gloves on while fixing food, had an attitude when I question her about it. Customers eat at your own risk!!!!!! The food is just PLAIN NASTY. I would give this place a 0 if I could!!! read more

Customer service is awful they stare at u when u come in and don't say nothing for minutes even when u the only one in there, then when I asked what type of vegetable was in the beef patty cause I don't eat corn the gurl huffed and rolled her eyes..., like who raised these people. read more

No line when I walked in. Someone served me promptly and put food and dumpling in my large stew peas with beef. However, after it was shared out. She went to the next customer, not asking if I needed anything else. Strike 1. A young man helped me with my veggie plate. I get to the register Donoli is ringing me up. I ask for 2 mild beef patties in coco bread. I pay. Get home. Open the bag. No coco bread AND my soup has NO FOOD! Ugh. Chu! read more

I came here to get breakfast and I was very disappointed. Fried dumpling and saltfish is my favorite Caribbean breakfast and the flavor was just not there. It had so much potential based off of the presentation, but there was just not any flavor. The veggie patties were decent, but that's it. needless to say, I don't believe I would order this entrée from this establishment again. read more

my boyfriend went in and got us both curry chicken with rice and beans and it was sooooo good ; I had never had Golden Crust & will be back

I visited this location on 8/26/25 around 12:45 pm to purchase Jamaican patties. The customer service was very poor and is in serious need of improvement. The young ladies at the counter would greatly benefit from customer service training to learn how to interact with customers in a more professional and welcoming manner. Based on my experience and after noticing their health score, it's clear they don't prioritize their business or their customers. I will not be returning." read more

This is the nastiest Jamaican food I've ever had in my entire life!!! I make Jamaican food often (sell it) and I grew up eating it. Oxtail is my favorite but the oxtail here tasted burnt, flavorless and it was tough! the lady who made my plate, picked through the oxtail one by one and later on I realized why. It's because she picked all of the FATTY bones thinking I didn't know any better probably because I had a proper american accent and I look Hispanic but I'm not. The cabbage was. 3/10, the rice was a little hard and dry and the only thing that tasted ok was the plantain. Do NOT eat here! you'll regret it! I am highly upset! I should've just eaten at home! Nasty, nasty, nasty!!!! read more

I am excited to see Golden Krust as they are one of my favorite Caribbean restaurants from Florida. However, like all chains they are subjective to the franchise and products. Today I had their lunch special, brown stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage and plantains for $5.99. I will post the picture! It was a large portion and very yummy! The seasonings were on point and flavor was good. I didn't taste any coconut milk in the rice and peas but honestly it is pleasantly surprising when I find it cooked that old school way! I also added a small carrot juice for $3.99 which was yummy! The reason they lost a star is when I asked for extra gravy she just slopped it on top and in the portion of the tray where the cabbage went. So my cabbage was souped up in gravy! I will definitely be going back since forturnately or unfortunately they are across from my gym! LoL read more

I am somewhat new to Caribbean food, but a coworker suggested this place. I have been here several times when I am in the area. The restaurant is small to medium and has adequate seating because many customers carry out their orders. They have some good lunch options for $5.99. The portion sizes are good, I usually have a small portion left to save for later. The curry chicken, rice & peas, and cabbage is what I have ordered most. I have tried the spinach patties and a few of the desserts (cake). I have not had a bad experience with the food. It has always been fresh. The staff is okay, a bit direct, but they have not been rude to me during any of my trips there. They are located in a plaza with Kroger, so there is a lot of parking. read more

I just ordered door dash large ox tail. I requested extra gravy on my rice. Food arrived. 4 ox tails 3 lbs of dry rice. So disappointing and waste of my money. 4 ox tails really and enough rice to feed a small village. Won't return read more

The food was good but man let me tell you they had probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I can't speak for the other ladies because they seemed nice but the big one with short hair needs a new profession. She got upset and called me inconsiderate because I asked for coco bread...something that takes no more than 30 seconds to take out and put in the already OPEN bag. I was so taken aback by her attitude I thought she had to be joking. And the cherry on top is that at the end she made it a point to make sure she was the one to ring me up. it came out to $45 which seemed like way too much but I wanted to leave ASAP because of her attitude so I didn't ask about it. but when I calculated what I bought it came out to nowhere near $45. Overall good food but I recommend buying it elsewhere or have one of the other ladies help you out instead. read more

The food is good but the customer service is awful. Every time I come to this location the staff are never friendly and rude. The last time I went the woman with the short cut blonde hair was extremely rude by rolling her eyes, sucking her teeth, and huffing and puffing every time I asked her a question. If she doesn't like her job then just leave. I'm tired of the disrespectful attitudes. read more

This place at both locations I've been to have been delicious! If you like large portions, these are gargantuan!

Piss poor service. I mean I guess we as black people have accepted that Jamaican restaurants are notoriously rude in service but girl....This is Americanized "friendly" Jamaican food and y'all are tremendously rude and nonchalant for no reason. I've come 3 consecutive times asking for a plant based patty that they ADVERTISED and I get there for the 4th day to ask Again to be laughed at as if it was an absurd question. Then to be told to "call ahead" as if it isn't a standard menu item. Beloved please go to another Jamaican restaurant. The Lord was on both of our sides because Whew child the audacity of these women in this restaurant is what's truly comical. Safe to say i will not return. Piss poor. Piss fucking poor. Golden Krust - Chicken Roti with a special touch of vegetables - Caribbean Near Me - McDonough, Georgia

Typical customer service, rude and unwelcoming! Ordered a large jerk. Portion size was good but food nasty. It was the most dry roasted chicken I've ever had. I called it roasted because not a drop of jerk seasoning on the oven baked DRY chicken. Did I mention the chicken was cold, plantains were cold too. I haven't been here in a while because the food is not good. However, because they have the food prepared already and wanted some jerk decided to try them again. $15 wasted! read more

I had the stewed chicken with peas and rice and I had them put the curry sauce off of the goat onto my rice and for dessert I had a gizzarda. Overall the food was good. the staff was friendly and the portion size was also really big for the price. I paid almost $10 for everything the meal was 7.99 plus tax and the gizzarda was $1.79. I also had steamed cabbage and plantains that came with the stewed chicken. My uncle is from Jamaica and he likes Golden krust that's what made me go there and I was thoroughly pleased. read more

I dont understand how they are always out of most items on the menu, especially staples like beef patties and jerk chicken. I've been there 2 times this week at 2 different times and they were out of beef patties. The customer service isn't the best. It's like they hate working there. I ordered a oxtail plate the other day. I was extremely disappointed in what I received for $14. Management needs to come back to the table and change some things. I absolutely love this Golden Krust restaurant in McDonough because the food is delicious. I especially love the jerk chicken and oxtails. The icing on the cake to my visit is Sadie who works there. This particular Golden Krust is absolutely not a good choice. The food is bland, undercooked, and unappetizing. I have been to other location (I.e. Morrow) and good was much better. I used DoorDash and didn't realize it was this location. Completely a waste of money read more

This is my first time trying Golden Krust and I have to say I am not disappointed at all! I'm not a Jamaican food connoisseur but I do love me some oxtail. I have tried various other places and I really like the oxtail here. The meat is very tender and falls off the bone easily so I don't have to fight with it with my teeth. Lol. Portion is huge too! Small is equivalent to a large at the other places. Will definitely come back again. read more

I came in because I was familiar with the Golden Krust in Morrow, GA, and wanted a Beef patty. Pros: The staff was pretty friendly. There are lots of delicious looking entree options. They had a good selection of patties. I ordered a mild beef patty and a spinach patty, and I liked the flavor of both. They both were seasoned well, and had a kick. Next time, I would like to try the oxtail plate. It seemed to to be the favorite among-st other customers that were ordering ahead of me, and the reason behind my 10-15 minute wait to order my two patties. Cons: The time it took to get in and out was too long, due to only two people taking orders and making plates, and stuff not being ready, I am assuming. The food is not made to order (Think cafeteria style or food court line) unless you order something uncommon like snapper, etc. So the patties were literally ready to go, but I had to wait a long time because of the people ordering dinner plates. Also, my beef patty and spinach patty were extremely flaky. They were warm, but maybe the warmer caused the bread to be very flaky, thus leaving crumbs everywhere when I ate them, and making it a tad but dry (in some areas), even though the filling itself was tasty. Overall, I may try another Caribbean spot before coming here, but would not be opposed to coming back if I was in the area, and saw a shorter chance of waiting. read more

So I had the taste for some Jamaican patties. I stopped by here and decided to get the veggie patty as well as a shrimp patty. The prices are pretty decent for the patties. The veggie patty is $2.20 and the shrimp patty is $2.65. I had never had the shrimp patty and wasn't really sure how I would like it but it was super duper tasty. I was definitely a little disappointed with the veggie patty, which had a lot of the frozen mixed vegetables in it, which I tend not to like. Definitely was not authentic, definitely was not homemade, and I definitely will not order it again. Both were very flaky, which was a plus. The restaurant was busy, so I'm assuming the rest of the food is really good. I've never had it so I can't speak much on that. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was also friendly. I did like how they put the patties inside a wrapper that specified which patty I had. Definitely plan to return to get the shrimp patty only. read more

I've always eaten at Golden Kristen. From back home in NY to ATL. The first and last time I went to this GK location i became ill from the food. Literally in the bathroom for 2 days. I just love love love the food cooked here won't go to another BUT!!! The staff here is Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!! I would give a strong 5 star but the service plays a very important part in the food service industry. Wish I could place a name on each individual server but no name tags are worn here at this site. When I first started coming here a few months ago it was a really good place to come since it's so convenient to my home. Now! Almost everytime I come in they are always out of something. It's an hour and a half before closing and their putting chairs up no food ready or even attempting to make any more. Needless to say this place is dead to me and my family there are too many restaurants in this area to go to and forget this one. Maybe they'll get better employees to run this location because the ones they have is stealing money with the BS they doing.... I really hope the owner sees this and make the necessary changes read more

To start off the staff had tremendous attitude very unfriendly, short and unwelcoming. So nasty curt rude even to the couple before me. I get it, it's a thing but your pretentious if you think you can be that way with this McDonald's of Jamaican food. The only authenticity were the attitudes. Canned style sides and heated up leftover style entrees and the nerve to treat customers the way you do smh. 1star a bit extreme to say the least. read more

Came here for the first time the other day around lunch time, place was fairly busy. Having never been there before, I asked a couple of very quick, basic questions to make sure I understood the menu and the employee helping me acted like my friend and I were nothing but problems. She spoke very quietly but got frustrated when I couldn't hear her and then was giving us trouble about not ordering certain things, it felt really weird and unnecessary. Food was pretty great however I can't help but feel I won't come back due to the lack of politeness/good service coming from the employee I interacted with. read more

Just left my first visit to the new location on Jonesboro road, 7/2/2018@ 1700 hours. Absolutely the worst customer service. Sever picking over the Oxtail to find smaller pieces. Not a good look putting food on spoon and putting the food back. The other lady at the register was too busy looking out the window watching a lady struggle with her child. People were lined up in front of the cashier and she was steady looking out the window. The lady serving us the oxtail stopped in the middle of putting the picked over oxtails and went to the back, never excusing her self or promptly coming back. It was just too much to take. We walked out and went down the street to Jamaica's Finest on Jonesboro and Kelly. Server was very nice and portion sizes where surprisingly generous.
