The selection (and size of the store) is not as large as the San Gabriel location that I gone to before, but I was able to find the pair that I liked. It is one of the most unprofessional and a terrible place to visit. The staff is super rude and inconsiderate. They just wanted to close the place as it was about "their time" to close. Great customer support! Mimi was extremely professional and supportive. I was not sure wether to buy the Kanaio Coast or the Local Kine models from Maui Jim. During my first visit to the store I could not find one of these models in stock, but Mimi was so kind to call the Maui Jim sales rep and book an appointment with him where I had the opportunity to try the overall eyeglasses line! They also prepared for me a custom pair of sunglasses with a specific combination of frame and lens (that I didn't ended up buying :-) ). Finally a place where no one pressures you to buy glasses. I decided to visit this office because Mimi, the manager moved from my last office located in San Diego. I was amazed at the beautiful astectics! There were so many frames to choose from, yet Mimi knew exactly where to guide me when it came to frame selection. She knew I needed nose pads because I had a small nose bridge so she directed me to the Tom Fords. I was very pleased that I made a decision in less than 15 minutes since I was very crunched on time. I had my new pair of glass made here last month and It was definitely a great experience! And it was during this crazy pandemic. Dr. Alan Chu was friendly and patient. He did my eye test and gave me a lot of information not only about my current eye condition but also certain things I needed to pay attention to protect my eyes. He also gave me really detailed suggestions on how my new glasses should be, depending on if it's for computers or driving. I really enjoyed his help and the result was pretty satisfying. Alicia helped me with other processes including picking frames and customizing it. She was also very friendly and patient. We spent almost an hr picking because I had specific requirements. Eventually with her and Mimi's help we ended with a pair of frame that I really liked. Now after three weeks, I get my new pair of glass and it's spot on. I don't have any dizzy issue that I have with my old pair. I have been enjoying it so far. Also, their appointment system works pretty well during covid. You just need to call them or reserve online. The store has customer number control and everyone wears masks. I would recommend Golden Irvine to anyone who wants a more personal and more customizable optometry experience. I went here for optometrist before. The doctor is patient and respectful. One day I came back here for a quick question about borrowing a screw driver. I was looking for some help to ask if that is possible. I was waiting for this lady at this chair. I got eye contact and was about to speak. She asked me to back off. I thought it was uncalled for. Two issues here: the staff is not friendly and 2. if the distance between chairs are too close then maybe the store should place the chairs further apart. Anyway, I left and I will not come back to this store for eye exam. The staff does not give out a friendly vibe at all. read more

Horrible horrible experience. Came to get new glasses and the sales rep kept pushing me to buy the most expensive one. Alas, I decided on that pair because it looked very nice. Then I waited an extremely long time for her to calculate the price (and it turned out to be incorrect). Fast forward to the next few weeks, I kept getting calls from them about "xyz thing they did wrong with my order." So, a month later (even though they said 2 weeks), I'm here to pick up my glasses, and it is HORRIBLE. The beautiful chic glasses look like they were made for an old man. Poor service, extremely slow, and unprofessional. You'd be better off driving all the way to their LA location, or better yet just go to any other eyeglass store 5 minutes away. read more

Great experience, great results. My first time with this organization. My prior optometrist (for decades) is a one-doctor shop, and although I loved all the machines he had, the actual prescription was flawed in recent years because he ignored my choices when it took me too long to decide between 2 settings. So, time for a change. Golden Exam: Saturday 1Aug2020. Got lucky, since an intern/student started my exam. Then the official optometrist came in to confirm/refine her results. When he built the prescription with the lens kit, the result was great. (It took much longer than if I'd only seen 1 doctor, but I liked that I got more than 1 exam for no extra fee.) Golden order: also 1Aug2020. Before the exam, the technician asked what kind of frames I wanted, and she picked some while I was examined. I was so pleased with the exam, I decided to stay and let them price a pair of progressive glasses for me. When I balked at the $600 frames (that's without lenses), they brought it back down to reality. I still spent $300+ beyond what my EyeMed insurance covered, but went for it. Estimate for progressives to be ready: 2-3 weeks. (I also wanted a pair dedicated to computer viewing, so I walked out with a second prescription for that. Ordered those from Zenni for $70.) Golden fulfillment: Saturday 8Aug2020. Actually, they called the day before. I'll try not to expect this as the norm, but yes, my glasses were ready in less than a week. The EyeMed lab deserves most of the credit, but clearly GIO was prompt about getting the frames & paperwork to them. The prescription really is excellent, as is the quality of the glasses. (Zenni fulfillment: I ordered the computer glasses on 2Aug, received them 14Aug, and that prescription is also superb. Definitely like their blue-blocker lenses.) The retina scanner was down on 1Aug, so I got that part of the exam done on 8Aug. The optometrist met with me after, and took his time going over those results, and the results of the prior exam tests again. Sidenote: this is the time of Covid, and the store is so large that they easily seat people more than 6 feet apart when we need to wait, and they helpfully suggest where you can sit. And, yes, Mimi is awesome. I love that she shows you (and says) the calculator buttons & display while she does the computations. She knows her product lines, and expertly bent the frames to fit. They measured my pupil distance separately for the progressives and for the computer glasses. In addition to my paper prescription, I got a copy of the detailed glasses order. I'm very pleased with every aspect of this experience. read more
