After the shareable alone, I knew I'd be adding Cooper's Hawk as one of my favorite brunch spots as well! As always, the whole team at Cooper's Hawk go out of their way to give you the best possible experience, and they always have the best recommendations! The Applewood Smoked Bacon Pizza is by far the absolute best breakfast pizza I've ever had! I'm a big pesto fan & the fresh slightly acidic bursts from the oven roasted tomatoes when you take a bite is awesome! One of my go-to's if dining out for breakfast is a scramble or hash; the smoked brisket hash is a MUST! It's extra cheesy & the smoked brisket alone is unreal!! If you like breakfast on the sweeter side, the Hawaiian Bread French Toast is a great pick! I love all the berries & the berry sauce with it! You have to try it all!!

We had a reservation for 6pm and the lobby area was already packed on a Saturday. If you're familiar with the Cooper's Hawk chain, it's about wine, a cool, mostly upscale casual ambiance and generally great food. Upon entering, there is a long bar for wine tasting and also opportunities to purchase wine-related decanters, glasses and (of course!) wine! We buzzed straight through that area to check in for our reservation. And I definitely recommend a reservation unless you want to hang out for a while tasting various wines before being seated. Anyway, our reserved booth was ready right on time and was very comfortable. The restaurant was pretty busy and yet we were promptly greeted by Dante' our server. He brought us each two complimentary wine tastings before taking our wine order. He also answered questions about the menu and brought us hot pretzel bread. The atmosphere in the restaurant was on the loud side because it was so busy and at times it was difficult to hear Dante' or to converse in general. We didn't order appetizers because we knew the entrees would be substantial. In the current economy, it wasn't surprising to see that prices had definitely increased since the last visit. A glass of wine was $11 for house wine and entree's ranged in price based on whatever you chose to order. My friend ordered the Chicken Madeira, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered the Ellie's Chicken Piccata with pasta, which I've enjoyed on past visits, and also added a side of asparagus. Both my friend and I enjoyed our first couple of bites. My friend found that the sauce became overwhelmingly sweet on the Chicken Madeira. I found that my entrée had way too much lemon sauce, although the chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. It was rather disappointing since I remember this entree being amazing in the past. It wasn't anything bad but too much sauce was simply too much and detracted from the meal. If I ordered it again, I would request light sauce, but that's definitely a hypothetical if... I probably would order the salmon dinner. However, I'm not really in any hurry to return. Dante' did a great job as our server and allowed us to linger as we continued to catch up with each other's lives. I would recommend this restaurant with the caveat that a Saturday night would likely be very busy in the dining room and the kitchen. Check out pictures below.

They serve their full menu until 10pm (!) with even later hours on the weekend. Of course, the pizza is great. It's owned by the "Marco's Pizza Family." As you may have guessed, this is an Italian restaurant. Although this is NOT the best Italian fare in town, it is very good. I will also say that it's a bit expensive for what you get. The service last night, from Liz, was fantastic. The atmosphere is just what you'd expect from in this part of town...exposed brick, comfy seats, high ceilings, etc. It's clean and modern, if not a little cliche. Still, it's very comfortable. Not only does he have the fastest growing pizza chain in the world, but (Italian immigrant) Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco also has a great spot in the heart of downtown Toledo. We'll be back.

Honestly, I would have rather waited the 15 minutes the waitress said it would take for fresh pizza than been given something that seemed like it had been sitting around for a while and was just "called" a Margherita because it looked similar. I expected a Margherita pizza with sliced tomatoes and plenty of basil, but what I got was more like a plain cheese pizza with just two chopped pieces of basil on top. The slices were folded in the container and looked smaller than they actually were. The staff didn't seem very enthusiastic when I came in to pick up my order, so I didn't feel welcomed as a new patron. The restaurant has a casual, seat-yourself bar-style vibe, which is fine if that's your style, but it didn't add much to the overall experience for me. The Pizza Passport is a great opportunity for pizza lovers to explore new restaurants or pizzerias in town. For me, I'm used to sticking with my usual spot, so it was nice to try something different and broaden my horizons, but I'm unsure if I will be returning. Overall, maybe it was just an off day for them.

I love restaurants that serve brunch, and this place goes above and beyond. This time it was not disappointing. The food was delicious and the server was fantastic. Super friendly and super knowledgeable. The food came out to order and was easy to make accommodations for. It's really nice that this place is also family friendly and has vegan/vegetarian options. The restaurant itself is clean and it's nice to be able to look out the windows and the people making the pizzas. It's a good lay out and a good amount of seating without being too big or too small. Theres also an entrance/exit from the front and an entrance/exit to the patio and back parking lot.

I will say every time before this time, I was always impressed with the service and food. This time they had a Harry Potter themed cocktail list. We all know I love a good cocktail menu, and Harry Potter themed? How could we go wrong? I ordered the Harry Potter flight and was wowed by all the different flavors. One had frangelico in it and I was really wowed by the flavor. All of them were delicious! We ordered the feta dip, baked Brie and the meatballs to all share. They were all absolutely delicious! It's a wine bar and known for their cheese, but I have to say the meatballs were dynamite. Isaiah was our water and he was quick and very nice. I'm excited for the new GM as he gets more people coming back and excited about their new themes and events.

If you need an after work pick-me-up, OR, if you want to edge off after work, BHD has you covered! This place is both a coffee shop, and the "speakeasy." Want a coffee or tea drink, a bagel, a banana, or a bougie pastry? You can find these in the cafe. If you want an excellent, if not overpriced, cocktail? You can find it at the bottom of the spiral staircase, in the bar area. The area directly above the bar (up a few steps up from the cafe), is a nice seating area. The view, over the parking lot(s) of the river, is surprisingly scenic. Service: This is a weird one...on nearly every occasion that we've been here, the wife and I got strange vibes. The people behind the counter in the coffee shop seemed, for some reason, snobby and aloof. C'mon, girls, you're baristas, not prima ballerinas...Still, the service was at least fast and accurate. I like the atmosphere. From the comfy chairs in the cafe, to the "secret" back door of the speakeasy, this place is very cool. However, THE BAR NEEDS A FOOT RAIL! All in all, this is a very nice edition to the downtown coffee, and bar, scene.
