We went to Golden Harvest with 14 people. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. We wanted to sit together and they had a large round table where all of us could sit comfortably.Service was outstanding. Servers were friendly and made several great suggestions . Food was fresh and delicious. All of us said how delicious everything was. read more

Golden Harvest - Fried chicken, rice, & dumpling - Dim Sum Near Me - Warren, Michigan

My husband and I went to Golden Harvest for a Lunar New Year luncheon. We were unsure of what to expect, as we were told there would be 10 courses. This usually includes appetizers and dessert. Instead, the luncheon consisted of 10 entrees served family style. We were cool with this, and saw it as a great opportunity to sample the vast menu. For beverages, we had green tea. While my husband and I couldn't sample every dish due to allergies, I would say we tried at least 6 of the dishes. Of those 6, I think there was only one we didn't particularly care for (the eggplant). All other dishes we tried were quite tasty, and the service was great. The teapots were quickly refilled, the food was delivered promptly, and the staff was very cordial and professional. For ambiance, the decor was a little outdated, but not shabby. Regardless, I am happy when places focus the attention on the quality of their food rather than on any fluff. There didn't seem to be a time limit for our party, and none of us felt rushed by the staff. We all felt relaxed enough to enjoy our meal and conversation. One thing I felt bad about is there were a lot of uneaten dishes. Even when shared among tables of 10, ten entrees is a lot to eat! And that was without rice! We were told by our table mates that the restaurant didn't offer takeaway for unfinished meals. That is a shame because that meant a lot of food was going to be wasted. An area of improvement I would suggest is to offer takeaways for uneaten portions, so as to reduce waste. I was going to suggest serving rice as well, but in all honesty we didn't miss it. My husband and I plan to return to Golden Harvest so that we can sample appetizers and explore the menu a little more, but until then I will give my luncheon experience 4 stars. read more

I ordered szechwan shrimp and szechwan chicken. The broccoli was old and soggy, yellow and brown. No vegetables were fresh. The shrimp was sweet and flavorless. No spices. read more

Chinese restaurant that serves authentic menu. Dining area is huge and it is like a 酒樓 (Cantonese wine house). It is so outdated and dark. Across the street from GM tech center but there are barely any customers during lunch time. Came here for dim sum and the dishes are lukewarm. Ain't it supposed to be straight from a steamer, why everything is lukewarm. Quality is meh, recipe is wrong on some dishes. Beside the dim sum that they can buy in bulk, food in general are greasy and cold. read more

This place is definitely worth checking out! We came for dim sum at around 11am and were SO impressed. Everything seemed flavorful, not greasy, and really fresh. The shiu mai was packed with shrimp and the chicken feet were fall off the bone! The room looks bright and welcoming, reminds me of celebratory times, growing up, and the service was prompt and straightforward. Will be coming back again soon, hopefully! read more

Unfortunately a very average dim sum place. Big spacious environment. Service was prompt. Lots of people pushing carts. However the food just didn't satisfy. The items in general were all average in comparison to other SE michigan dim sum places. The rice noodle roll was small. The chive dumpling was too doughy. Chicken feet was average. The pork and vege dumpling - obvious that the wrapper was not home made and stale. Won't be back for dim sum. read more

Looking to try all the (few) dim sum in the area, pretty cool old schooly feel. Ambience was fine for a Friday night. Particularly liked the deep fried shrimp balls, bean sprout stir-fry chow mein, Chinese broccoli with garlic and pan fried chive buns. I didn't care for the pork dumplings felt like it was a bit too meaty & dry, and unfortunately they were out of rice noodles and rolls. Hopefully next time & looking forward to going during proper dim sum time. read more

We just ate today at Golden Harvest. Before I can ask for chopsticks and fork. Now I have to choose if I will use chopsticks or fork. Then when we're done eating we asked for containers for our leftover food and we were told that all the leftover will fit on 2 styrofoam container. My wife had to tell the server that the sticky rice needs a separate container cause I am bringing it somewhere( to work). Then when I am paying the bill the lady owner told me tip is 18% I said can I not give whatever tip I want? She said she gets 18% tip to all customer. When you're not happy with the service do you still get charged 18%? You don't want to give me chopsticks and extra container for the sticky rice and you're demanding me to give 18% tip? Custumer has the right to give whatever tip he wants to give depending on his satisfaction. read more

Service was great and very friendly. We were one of 2 tables on a Sunday night. The food came quickly and the dim sum was last. The chow fun with beef and the veggies we ordered were fresh. Everything else we ordered left much to be desired. We also ordered Shu Mai, custard buns, chicken fried rice and almond chicken. The chicken tasted frozen and dry, the peas in the fried rice were dehydrated and powdery tasting. The sauce for the almond chicken was a mushroom gravy which we did not realize was a Detroit metro thing. The restaurant itself was beautiful. We loved the vintage 80's vibe. It would be great for a big trouble in little china themed party. read more

Food was alright. Spring rolls, rice, and custard buns were excellent, but the pork buns were cold. The Coke had a HORRIBLE aftertaste. I can't even describe it, I couldn't take a second sip. Servers were nice but hard to communicate with. Probably not a place I will come back to. That Coke is still haunting me. read more

Golden Harvest is not what it was. Arrived for lunch. Ordered Almond Boneless chicken and pepper beef. Pepper beef tasted like meat gone bad. Almond chicken had an off taste I think from the oil. Fried rice had an off taste. A shame. Used to love this restaurant and it's food. read more

Second time here. It is in a weird building but there is plenty of parking. Unpleasant odor by the entrance, but after I entered the dining area it subsided. The food was hit or miss, but no dish was awful. The chow fun and spare ribs were decent. The shumai had a chewy filling (not minced enough) and the stuffed banana leaves filling was not the freshest. The stuffed eggplant was good. I was in the mood for this style of food but I will seek out other options. read more

A bit surprised at some of the recent reviews because we had a really great meal here! Came on a Saturday for lunch and it was surprisingly not too busy. Had the traditional cart dining experience and each dish we ordered was hot and fresh. Loved the variety and was even able to try a new dish (octopus curry)! Service was surprisingly the bright spot here. The ladies were very friendly and helped us to really enjoy our meal. They weren't overly pushy and refilled waters with a smile. There's also plenty of parking and seating so it's perfect for larger groups! I do want to call out that tea is $1 each, so make sure everyone actually wants tea or you will be charged per cup. Overall, great spot for dimsum! read more

We went to Golden Harvest on a weeknight and were very disappointed. The restaurant dining room is huge, but we were one of two tables in total. The dim-sum menu is why we came, as I had heard it was good. They were out of almost all of the dim-sum. There weren't even enough options for us to choose from for a meal, we ended up having to order from their regular menu and only ordered one dim-sum item; the chive pancakes. The regular menu was pretty large and the prices were decent. I ordered Mongolian beef, which came with rice (I asked for white) and an egg roll. My date ordered the shrimp with Lobster sauce which came with rice (he went with fried) and an egg roll. The food was OK. I felt like my dish was light on the beef and mostly onions and peppers - more like pepper steak. My date felt like his was good but not what he was expecting. The egg rolls were really good, and the chive pancake was only OK. The waitress was nice. She kept our drinks full and checked on us often without being overly attentive. What bothered me was that there were small flies in the restaurant that were annoying while we ate. I think that was what turned me off most. If not for this, I would probably return on another night to try other things. As it is, I don't think we'll return. read more

Amazing food. I really enjoyed the shrimp rice rolls, but I really enjoyed everything. Amazing service and kind staff. I've had my fair share of Dim-Sum as I'm from Southern California, and I've also lived in China for 12 years, and this was one of my top Dim-Sum experiences. read more

I came here with a friend on a whim for some Dim Sum, and it was sooo worth it. The food was quick, and efficient, and delicious! Talk about being full, and it was relatively inexpensive too! read more

1st time... Last Time I'll be here This restaurant has been around since I was a kid and I'm in my late 30s... But I've never went in because of the prices. Went around 4ish, the place was DEAD.... Empty.... Zippo no one in the restaurant. We were greeted right away and you were also greeted with a pungent smell of fish... The restaurant is HUGE tons of tables, the floors were in need of nice scrubbing dirty... The waitress was nice... but.... More to come on this.. My GF and I ordered a decent amount of food, I had Pepper Steak my GF ordered a few items mostly appetizers. She ordered a noodle dish.... After 5 mins went by our waitress came back out to state they didn't have that dish.... The waitress waited and my GF started asking for another and was meet with... Not available, she finally picked something We received our appetizers and my main meal... it was "Ok" not the Best not the Worse the appetizers were decent... my GF got her main dish about 10min later... There was plentiful amount of food... but that's where it goes south even more Received our bill which was $72... we paid and then while leaving I saw our waitress walk fast to the table... the called out my GF asking why so small of a tip. My GF states the following - No dishes we're available she wanted, no info or signs that they were available - Asked for refills The waitress goes on to say it's 10% why not 10% my GF goes on to explain more and then the waitress walks away in discuss... The overall action of the waitress, the overall dirty of the floors, the overall "non" selection of food... We will never come back read more

Food was terrible. Sweet and sour chicken sauce was like a gel and very vinegary. Egg rolls were hard, starchy and had no flavor. Table was sticky when we sat down. I wish people would stop talking about the damn building. We are not here to eat the building. I don't even care what the inside looks like. It's all about the food which was absolutely phenomenal. I took my family there for Christmas. There were nine of us, and every single person, children included love their food. They cannot stop ranting and raving about this place. I can't wait to get back there. Dim sum appetizers and entrées were all full of flavor. hot & delicious. We enjoyed the jasmine green tea as well. read more

My wife is Chinese and unless it is authentic Chinese food, she will not be satisfied. Having said that, we have been frequenting Golden Harvest for almost 30 yrs for Cantonese style foods . Best Dim Sum in the Detroit metro area. Given that most of my Dim Sum experiences have been in the China/Asia town portions of NYC, Seattle and San Francisco, I have very high standards! Chicken feet are my favourite and the har gow, sticky rice, eggplant with shrimp, pork buns, pineapple buns and rice noodles are go-to items for us. Prices are reasonable and the quality/variety of items are the best that we can find after many excursions to locations "claiming" to have good dim sum. Open every day but Wednesday, and we plan medical appts in the area just so we can have lunch!!! read more

Went for Dim Sum with a large group of 9 at 5:30. I haven't had Dim sum before but I think that it was good. Although, if you have a shrimp allergy I would stay away, we ordered multiple dishes that did not have shrimp, but still contained small pieces of shrimp? read more

Is Golden Harvest the best dim sum place for plump, juicy, and delicious chicken feet? It might be, at least in the state of Michigan. I don't even really like chicken feet but my group of about 12 ordered like 6 orders of them. Also good was their shumai, a staple at every dim sum joint. A lot of my judgement on dim sum places depends on these flavor-packed morsels. They have a big parking lot that's easy to get in and out of and service isn't bad. If I'm ever back in Detroit, I wouldn't mind coming back here for a quick dim sum fix! read more

I need to chalk up my previous experiences to has-beens. Because whatever this establishment is doing now, works. The variety of dim sum here surpasses most places in Michigan. They have pea pod stems, duck, lots of hot shrimp rolls, calamari, and my fav tofu pudding. You must come on Saturdays around 12:30pm. This is when all the good stuff comes out. And regardless of size of dish, everything is 2.75. I probably had one of my best Michigan dim sum experiences today. And the service was top notch, refilling my tea pot and water for the whole entire experience. Michigan- you have made me proud today!! read more

Two words. Dim Sum! Ok I'll add a third, Dumpling. We have only been for Dim Sum and only on a Saturday or Sunday. The food is decent and the price is fair. It will satisfy your Dim Sum crave but is not excellent. The service is good, they will continue to refill your tea pot as you graze through your Dim Sum old reliables like steamed pork dumplings and BBQ buns. Not a fan of what is presented on the carts? Golden Harvest - Dim Sum Near Me - Warren, Michigan

There's no denying it,,, as much as everybody tries to fight it, this spot is a true staple. Your momma comes here, your mommas momma comes here, you come here and everybody you know or will know in the future will come here. As far as I'm concerned, this is the measuring stick for dim sum in the metro Detroit area. Here's a wipe on, wipe off for "Americans" who's never had dim sum before. This is the closest thing to real Chinese food. Contrary to what your parents belive, chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken is by far the most embarrassing of all the stuff people order. So if you're going to come here and order that, allow your sneakers to escort you out the door before you insult yourself by your ignorance. Pork, beef and seafood is what makes the dim sum world go round and round. This is the holy trinity of real Chinese food at its finest. Leave the chicken for the americans. They can have all that, just make sure they send the good scraps this way, like chicken feet and gizzards, then we can have ourselves a good dim sum pig out session. Order whatever you're craving today, and anything interesting the person on the cart is showing you, 99.9% of the time, you'll love it. The 00.1% that you wont, just means you prefer chicken fingers and fried potato sticks. Make sure you order a vegetable or two,, trust me,, you're gonna need a palette cleanser. Maybe I'm going a little overboard with 5 stars, but this restaurant has done me no wrong my friend. They've served good quality and satisfying dim sum every time I've come around to pig out. So make sure you come hungry cause the food is really good. Life is awesome when the glass is half full. Weeeeeee!! read more
