Terrible. Totally unbiased review considering I currently work as a server, I understand the practicalities of how a restaurant/café should be ran. I am speaking based off my first time experience during a fairly busy holiday (Father's Day), could it have been different during a regular day? Probably, but there's no excuses in the food industry since mostly all restaurants/cafés have weeks of preparation before a holiday or even peak periods during the days. My family and I (Party of 5) waited around an hour (seating, getting our order taken, and waiting for our food). Around the 45th minute my mother was going in to ask for the ETA of when our food was going to go out when I went to the restroom. As soon as I got out I saw my mom walked out and overheard one of the employees say, "Well you should've stayed home" to a party of 2 sitting down. I was angry and decided to talk to the manager about the wait time and the lack of professionalism. I later found out the "manager" was the one who directed those derogatory comments not towards my mother however, but to another guest who opted to get in the kitchen to cook her eggs herself. Although it wasn't directed towards my mother it shouldn't have been uttered out PERIOD. Especially to two guests eating there. I told her we were waiting about an hour and corrected me with "48 minutes" LOL sorry for not being exact but that is a rough estimate. The phone rang and there was no "Give me one second okay?" or "Let me take this call and I'll get right back to you." She just turned around and took the phone just leaving me there. Reluctantly I walked back to our table and the food was at our table probably around the 45-48 minute mark. What's even worse was that a table that sat after us got their food first before my family did. It's not the wait time that ticked me off, it's the lack of service and professionalism. There's more to service than just saying "More coffee?" giving refills every 15 minutes. I don't know how things are ran here, but it doesn't seem that our server who originally took our order was there to take care of us. I guess the server assistants and/or food runners were the only ones who aided us with refills were the only ones checking with us in a sense? Here's some constructive criticism: 1. Have your server check in with your guests every 10 minutes to reassure the status of the order to their party to keep us informed because to be honest we felt forgotten. Servers should tell based on my party's body language we were getting impatient/irritated because we don't know what's going on and we haven't spoken to/seen our server. It's common sense that guests should be priority number 1 and they should be taken care of to give a lasting appeal to ensure they'll return. 2. You have 5-8 employees on the floor, we've had 2 of the workers offer us refills back-to-back in 2 minute intervals after we said yes to the first worker. All I heard from the manager was excuses, talking about the phone calls, the tablets of online ordering, saying "I don't know what to tell you the order has been submitted at this time I have no control" while showing me her tablet of our wait time, etc. Like yeah I get it, I've been there and it sucks. But you've got a lot of hands who can relieve that duty to make it run smoothly. I thought I can empathize with her (since we both work in the food industry) to be straight up with me. Are they understaffed in the kitchen? Dishwasher called out, so the cooks don't have any plates? But no I'm just hearing Front of House issues where they have more than enough hands for that. 3. No apologies or a concise explanation was given to me by the "manager" herself. She literally criticized a guest to two other people when the guest wasn't present, so I wouldn't be surprised if she bad-mouthed me after me and my family left. Get yourself a level-headed leader who actually cares about their guests. I know you're trying to stay afloat when it's busy, but there's really no excuses, I just hear complaining since I don't know the real reason why the wait time for food was so long. The food was alright, but too pricey for the portion size. We were hungry so we waited an hour in total to finish eating in 10 minutes. We still tipped because we understand the struggle, but honestly it could've been smoother. I'm just disappointed because it was my first time on Father's Day and I had work in an hour. We won't be returning any time soon. If management or any of the workers are reading this review you can bash me all you want, but I'm just stating the facts that there would not be any problems at all if service and professionalism was on point. Just communicate with us! Talk to us about our day! Something to keep us in the loop! Don't leave us wondering! read more
