What happened. Service has gone out the window. And that's a sad thing. Waited for a table for 15 minutes. Sat and never got out order taken. Asked for help on 3 different occasions. Nothing. Got up and left. They are usually much better than this. read more

Excellent food and great service and the outside deck is great! It is family owned and a friendly cool vibe.

Yo so I've been around town (and out) searching for th best Chicken N' Waffles and this one DEFINITELY is up there top 3. First the waffles is the right about of dough with brown sugar being thrown on it +krisp edges. 2nd theyre not stingy with the chicken which i should say is full meat. 3rd they even give you th option to use MAPLE syrup instead which ive never seen + throwing maple butter on the waffle. I will even go as far and say this smacks Roscoes out th water by far for quality/filling/price. Even th service is fast, almost too fast where im in n out under 30 minutes - hr. Perfect spot and DOG FRIENDLY les goo! read more

Best banana bread EVER! If you are looking for moist and deliciously flavorful banana bread, look no further. Friendly and courteous staff. Reasonably priced given the high cost of everything now. read more

One of the best secrets in all Ventura County. Breakfasts are excellent and the staff is amazing. The outdoor patio has a great view of the beautiful harbor. Prices are more than fair for the quality of the meals they provide. Family owned/operated since 2003. read more

The service was great and the food was delicious! I loved the fact that both breakfast and lunch are served all day. The food was cooked exactly to my order. It was a great amount of food for the price & the view from the back patio was absolutely stunning ! The restaurant was super clean , even the restroom. I would highly recommend Golden Egg! read more

Food was okay. Over priced for portions. Ordered chilaquiles and country fried steak. Potatoes tasted like they had been sitting under a heating lamp. Food was a bit bland. Gravy didn't taste right. Overall it was okay. Might come back and give it another try. Love the seating outside. read more

I called the golden egg for the first time Sunday morning to order breakfast for our family. Thinking it's a local restaurant and during Covid I'd like to patronize them, it was next to impossible to place the order because the person taking my order had no idea of the menu and after five minutes I told him thank you very much I'll go somewhere else. As a business owner during these terrible times you would think you'd have your A-Team answering your phones and taking orders especially on a Sunday. Sorry guys moving on read more

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My husband and I were heading to Pete's place, but the line was too long so we decided to give the Golden Egg a try. Boy are glad we did. The food was excellent! Everything was homemade, fresh and delicious. We ordered the Two specials, the two burrito and the veggie skillet. We also ordered a biscuit and a cinnamon bun. And let's talk about the service. Everyone was very nice and happy. I mentioned this because there's nothing worse than a grumpy person taking your order. read more

Big portions, friendly service. Been 2 or 3 times now and have enjoyed each meal (and tastes of my friends) each time. It's cozy and homey. They make a lot in-house. read more

A nice little strip mall breakfast spot. I ordered the Egg Rancheros and they were very good! My mom got an omelet and said it was maybe the best she's ever had. Definitely worth stopping in if you're ever in the area. read more

I reccomend this place. I ate there for the first time and it was great. There space is very small so I would assume you might have to wait to get in on the weekends but so does every breakfast restaraunt. The food was great and so was the service. I'll totally go there again read more

The water location is awesome, food is excellent (try the homemade pico de gallo on the potatoes) but the main thing that sets the Golden Egg Cafe apart is the people who work there. Always friendly and nice, you can tell they enjoy working there. read more

Amazingly delicious place for breakfast & lunch. We're in town for three days visiting family & they took us here for breakfast... & we went back ourselves today for breakfast again. Usually we like to branch out & try as many different places as possible when out of town, but this place was too good yesterday to not come back again today. I love my countryfried steak, but so many places don't do it right. Often soft & mushy, or tough & dry. Their chicken fried steak is perfect... nice & crispy on the outside, soft & moist on the inside & the breading doesn't fall apart as you're eating it. Awesome gravy too... perfect consistency in that it's not too thick, but doesn't run off the food in a slimy mess either. The poached eggs are amazing as well. Same thing as chicken fried steak... too many places don't do poached eggs well. Often they're more like a mixture of soft & hard boiled eggs, but with theirs, the yolk oozes out when you cut into the egg. The hash browns are great... crispy without being dried out & no greasy taste. I was a little skeptical ordering the clam chowder at a place that doesn't really serve seafood, but I'm a clam chowder connoisseur & have to try it pretty much anywhere I go... & it didn't disappoint! Perfect texture... thick enough that only a little runs off the spoon when you take a bite, which is exactly how I like it. Some places the clam chowder just runs off like liquid when you eat it. Nice amount of clams in it as well. Unless you're absolutely starving, only get a cup though. The bowl is ginormous! The family that took us here have gluten issues/food allergies, but they come here 3-4 days a week & are fine. The staff is great & the place is immaculately clean. Definitely our go-to place the next time we return Oxnard. read more

This restaurant over charged us for our food & the service was horrible. They wanna charge you a gratuity fee of $25 dollars just to sit down at this place blew my mind. They are banking on the fact the you can sit outside and see the water which is about the only thing good about this place. Extremely over priced basic food & horrible service the servers gave us attitude when they gave us our checks & wouldn't even check in on our table during our visit, would not recommend to anyone. For 3 people it was about $100 dollars over priced & food wasn't good. read more

This is my favorite go to breakfast place. There is a patio in the back which is dog friendly, the only drawback is that in the morning it's mostly in the shade and since it's on the harbor it's very cold and windy. It would be nice if they had heaters. Other than that I love this place! I have come with a large party and everybody loved what they got. read more

We will never go back. The service was extremely slow. We waited almost an hour to get our food. I ordered eggs benedict and my order was not done right, the bread was burnt and the egg whites were not done. My brother-in-law ordered eggs sunny side up. His eggs were gross as the egg whites were totally runny and not completely cooked. He also found a piece of USED waffle among his country potatoes. My sister's pancakes were not thoroughly cooked and were not edible. Their seven grain pancakes consist of a regular pancake with few granola pieces on top. Very sloppy! Most importantly, we noticed that they DO NOT sanitize the tables and chairs after each use. We asked for the manager, and she never showed up. If you care about your health do not dine in that restaurant. read more

My sisters, mom and I are here on vacation. The service was wonderful! The waitresses were very friendly, informative, and attentive to all of our needs. We ordered breakfast. It was average. Do not get the biscuits and gravy it has no taste and the biscuits were a bit doughy. The eggs and bacon were cooked well. I gave this place four stars because the service was excellent. read more

First experience here was great! Food reasonably priced! And tastes delicious!! They offer a lot with the meal! I got a veggie omelette with fruit and banana bread! The service was excellent! Waitress was very attentive!! Way better than IHOP which is down the street and cost more for less!! read more

This place had a great view, amazing food & nice customer service. Highly recommended if around the area!!!

Golden Egg has been a favorite of mine since 2014 when I moved up here. I was drawn to their banana bread. The staff is always very kind. If we ever need to wait, it is less than 5 minutes (which is awesome!) We have tried a variety of their breakfast items. My husband loves their Great Western breakfast, biscuits and gravy. My favorite item is their almond granola pancakes. I don't feel that there is anything on the breakfast menu that I am not a fan of. I have gone to both locations (Ventura and Oxnard) and the Oxnard one is more relaxed. The view from the back patio is very nice. It makes for a peaceful breakfast experience. read more

Golden Egg Cafe - Egg scramble-- back, spinach, onion, tomato and avocado with potatoes and banana bread - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Oxnard, California

The patio seating has a pleasant view of the harbor, but unfortunately the food is very average. We ordered omelettes--quite small with a sparse portion of potatoes. The banana bread instead of toast was a tasty option, though. NOTE: They charge you an additional 4% to use your credit card. read more

If looks could kill, my waiter would be dead. My table was checked on twice. Once to order and once to receive the food. The waiter never even glanced over to check on us again. After we finished eating we sat and waited on the check. Five minutes went by, 10 minutes went by (I contemplated a dine and dash), 15 minutes went by until we finally hailed a different waiter to bring the check. It was another 5 minutes before our original waiter brought our check. I must have scared him with my silent sullen face because a third waiter brought my receipt. I would rather eat at IHOP and die of diabetes than come back to this god forsaken hole. read more

Perfect Chille Relleno Burrito with beans, they were out of rice. But it was fresh, juicy and so much flavor. We sat outside overlooking the harbor. Great breakfast with five star service, meals with a great view.Thank you Adrian read more

This is a cute little breakfast place in a neighborhood that will utilize it. It's in the shopping center by 24-hour fitness. The food was delicious, served quickly and the service was very attentive. Their take on hash browns is refreshing, not greasy and a little more like smashed browns but I like it, they have a hint of Rosemary. They are not " home fries" or " country potatoes"; these spuds are just about the best breakfast side going in Oxnard or Ventura. The eggs are golden like the sign says, really delicious. The prices are lower than comparable places in the Oxnard Shores area. ( and I will not mention names). Big portions, my mom and I split a "scrambler". There is a notification on the menu that they have a split charge that includes a side of hash browns. We did not get the potatoes, they did not split it in the kitchen and they didn't charge us the split fee. No complaints here. Parking can be tricky, as they are close to a local busy gym, but not as tricky as beach parking at another popular breakfast spot. good coffee and plenty of refills. The wait staff is super friendly. read more

The local breakfast place... For those people with an hour to wait for service.. I get it, its a Sunday morning, but it surely isn't your FIRST Sunday serving breakfast is it?? You couldn't staff up? One server for 7 patio tables? If I forgive the fact that he reached across me to pour coffee (after 15 min) I would have a hard time forgiving the coffee spilled in my lap. The coffee poured in a tea cup, the empty water cups. No sugar, no creamer... I wish I could review the food, but after an hour, we left. From my past meal here, food was fair, but for what amounts to Denny's with bad service, we won't return. read more

This used to be a good place to eat, but the quality of food and service has deteriorated! Only a few tables were occupied, yet service was incredibly slow and food was cold when delivered to the table! Ugh! read more

On Sunday June 17th, my family and I went to the Golden Egg Cafe in Oxnard for a nice Father's Day breakfast. The wait staff was very nice and courteous. The food was good (not great). What prompted this review are; 1. Our waiter wore a bracelet with dangling charms. Every time he set a dish down, his charms would dragged across my food! The first time, they dragged across my potato. The second time, they dipped into my gravy. I told my family about it and when the waiter brought out the last plate, his charms dipped into my son's whipped butter! We were all a gasp! 2. The surprise additional "non cash adjustment". A whopping 4% of the total bill on our check just for paying with a credit card!!! Unbelievable! Let's just say that we will never frequent his establishment ever again!! Very disappointed. read more

The Golden Egg is a long awaited breakfast and lunch option that was lacking in Seabridge Marina. The location is convenient, clean and offers an outside patio seating option that overlooks the marina. The décor is efficient, spartan and strangely appointed with postage stamp size citrus crate prints that are dwarfed by the high ceilings. The menu is compact yet complete. The food and service here are top notch having honed their skills in the long running Ventura location. While slightly more expensive than other daytime noshing options, the location and outside ambiance warrant a visit. read more

One of my favorite places in all of Oxnard and Ventura since we moved here a few months ago. Family run, and everyone is super nice and obviously committed to the business and service. Beautiful to sit outside to view the harbor. Breakfast, which is the only meal we've ever had here, is really good. Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection, and the english muffin was tasty. They really hit on all cylinders and are probably a 4.5 rating instead of four, but not quite 5. I will be a regular here that's for sure. read more

My wife daughter and I went to here for a late Sunday late breakfast early lunch at about 1pm. The restaurant was very clean and open and inviting as they had KHAY country music playing feeling like a country coffee shop theme which was fitting. They had a great list of specials with quiches, scrambles, and omelettes and egg dishes.i had the ABC Avocado Bacon and Cheddar A omelette and it was orrery good. The eggs were well cooked and the bacon was pretty good and the cheese on top was good. My wife had the veggie burger which she says was pretty good and my daughter had the veggie salad which was nice and big and good. If you are in that area and are looking for s good breakfast place I would keep them in mind. The service was attentive and friendly and we can see why people like it read more
