We live nearby and are happy to have a wonderful chinese takeout option close to home! The staff is polite and very friendly. The food is great too, we usually get he General Tso's tofu, spring rolls, broccoli in garlic sauce or mixed vegetables. We have no complaints and always have a great meal. DO NOT BOTHER GOING HERE. The owner has NO respect for his customers. He was cursing on the phone and hung up on me. I placed an order that I wasn't happy with, the end result was him giving me a credit towards my account. When I called 2 weeks later trying to order for a friend, he said I didn't have any credit and persisted to tell me that he never does that. I've lived in a few towns the past few years and the usual default Chinese take-outs have been just okay. Having just moved to Matawan, we took a chance on this place and it's really my favorite! I usually order from another Chinese place, but I was at my parents and this is where they order from. Placed the order and went to pick it up. It was fairly quick!! My mom and I shared chicken and broccoli, it was extremely bland and she didn't even save the leftovers. Good thing we had some wonton soup to eat as well. There was like zero sauce and very little chicken in the dish. They usually get general tso chicken and like it, but she will never get chicken and broccoli from here again!! read more

If you're a Jerseyian, you understand that the greater Chinese take-out industry is dominated by pseudo-giant Sultan Wok (can't you feel the drama). It's nice to find that Matawan has a much better alternative : Golden Dragon. Tucked away in the back corner of 516, ordering on a whim turned out better than expected. This place offers much better portions at same, if cheaper, pricing. The other night I ordered the Three Star - beef, chicken, and jumbo (legit jumbo) shrimp, with vegetables in a spicy brown sauce, which tasted great. The big test that they passed was with their roast pork with brocolli, which tasted comparably well to that of Chinatown tastes. Golden Dragon is a great alternative to those looking outside the pseudo-takeout monopoly. read more

The prices are fair and we love the fact we can order via the web or app. Makes the ordering process extremely simple. Last time I called Golden Dragon I ordered almost $35.00 for a moderate amount of food....when delivered I noticed that I was charged for duck sauce & noodles. Some of their food is okay & some is really awful .... I actually threw an item into the garbage bag because it was poorly prepared. I NEVER put bad reviews on social media but they're nasty & offensive people. No regard for their customers. I only called them because I'm ill & need food delivery. I was in the restaurant business for years and hate to complain like this but a business owner who has no respect for their patrons should be exposed. read more

Ordered sesame chicken and bbq spare ribs, while the food was very tasty the portions are much smaller than any other Chinese food take out I have ever been too, the combo was definitely less chicken and rice than a normal combo and only received 4 super small spare ribs in the small order for $6.49 which was a rip off and the best is a $15 min to use your credit/debit card otherwise they charge you a $1, that is totally absurd the most I have ever seen a place charge is $10 min, this place is very cheap in every way! read more

We have been ordering from Golden Dragon for awhile. They frequently forget part of our order or mess it up. Generally they send out what they forgot immediately and if what they sent isn't too different from what we ordered we generally don't complain. However, the last time we ordered from them they sent the wrong food AGAIN and this time we actually wanted what we ordered, so I called to let them know that we received the wrong food. The young man who answered the phone (it's always the same kid) insisted the order was correct. I explained to him what I had ordered and what I was looking at, but he refused to admit the order was wrong and replace it. I WILL NEVER ORDER FOOD FROM THEM AGAIN! I ordered Cantonese styled chow mein. They used the same kind of noodle for lomein. Not good. Meat is terrible especially the "roast pork". In addition to fake the roast pork with food coloring, it didn't even taste like pork. It has three good size shrimps but very staled. Rice was good. read more

Ordered the chicken chow mein got chicken lo mein with no chicken. I informed the young man who answered the phone that I was allergic to all these mushrooms but did not seem to care. After I insisted that I did not oreder this they decided to replace my order but said I had to pick it up which I could not do since I was at work and was not allowed to leave the premises.
