I obviously got spoiled at the Golden Dragon in my town. Because this was hands down the worst buffet I've ever seen. I went in a few days ago and it was a little questionable from the start with the two small bars of food but we gave it a shot. We were the only table in there and i got the coconut shrimp and i took one bite and it was so cold it tasted like it just thawed out under the lamp from the freezer. And i've never done this before but i couldn't justify eating and spending any money there so we left. It was also not the cleanest and the cook brought a pan out and it looked like he just put it on top of the older or threw the older out in not sure. But please do not stop here. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They attempted to scam me, and I'm sure I'm not the first. Their website has Mongolian beef listed for $8.99. I called and ordered Mongolian beef and an egg roll for pickup. I went in to pay, and they tried to charge me $18.99. They said I didn't order the "value plate." Mind you, there is only one Mongolian beef item on their menu, and it is listed for $8.99 (see screenshot). I told them I would just like the $8.99 portion. This establishment is deplorable and that's being generous. I just stopped in for a quick lunch, buffet mind you, 2 people in the restaurant, there is hardly any food out. Waited for 10 minutes for drinks, and thought more food would be put put out, nope, No lo mien, rice cold, pepper chicken was gummy like left overs, my son and and 9 yr old grandkid even complained food was bland and tasteless. I've never been inside of the restaurant; however, I have ordered twice through Waitr. I'm a huge fan!!! We ordered the first time and I got Curry Shrimp w/ Onions; I requested it to be extra spicy. The food came, I ate - it was delicious. The second time my husband ordered for me and forgot to ask for it to be extra spicy - i was bummed. When the food came I had received a note that says " Free Fanta - thank you for your order! The shrimp are SPICY!" I'm sorry - that's just amazing customer service. It's like they KNEW what I wanted and that I was bummed. I don't know how they did it - but I'm grateful. The food has NEVER been anything but amazing when delivered. im done with this so called buffet ..They offer all you can fill a box for 8.99 and i asked for some fresh cooked food and they came out with a half empty box of food that i had already paid for. I was so upset with the 12 oz of food they sent me home with, yea i weighed it lol for 8.99 you can not trust people anymore to do you right.. Against my better judgement, I decided to get take out Chinese. I don't know if I was confused due to being hungry, or if I just really wanted Chinese food. The buffet is tiny and it doesn't look or taste fresh. There are few items to chose from, so I would recommend getting your meal to go. All you can eat would just be a waste. Regarding the Golden Dragon in Covington, Louisiana -- We used to be regulars. But no more! The restaurant has increasing gone down fast! On recent visits, we found the Golden Dragon in Covington to be poorly managed, with no regard to customer satisfaction or the simplest of common courtesy one would expect when dining out. In particular, there is a younger woman with glasses who is quite disrespectful, and has no idea how to treat customers or the personality to do so. The restaurant is dirty with mold and grime on the tables, chairs, walls and floors. I would hate to see the non-public areas. The workers never wear hair nets or gloves, and violate so many public safety and health mandates. They really should be investigated. The self-serve ice cream bar is a total mess with no attention to it's upkeep or cleanliness. The owners allow their young boy to disrupt patrons and play in the food and at occupied tables. Even as regulars, in recent times, our requests were often ignored and we were treated rudely. We know many who no longer will eat there for many of the same reasons. The place rarely has more than a handful of people even at the peak of dinner. On a recent dinner evening, we were the only patrons there. How sad to see a once great restaurant that was always crowded go down in quality at every level. One would think the owners would be taking note of this decline and be doing something to correct the many problems. Surely their cash flow and tips have declined as a result of their negligence and decline in standards. There are many other restaurants with better food, better service, and a better dining experience. The owners and workers of Golden Dragon in Covington don't deserve our business anymore. Surely they can't stay in business long if this decline continues to be allowed. read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Covington. Unlike the restaurant on Collins Blvd. with Hispanic cooks, this restaurant is owned and operated by an authentic Chinese family. When this place first opened it was really good. They always had good amount of food and it was always hot. Eventually we stoped going as much and the last time we went was just not good. Disappointing. The buffet doesn't have much to offer, and the food really wasn't that good. When I asked for white rice as part of my to go order, the staff seemed baffled. Apparently they don't normally offer it? After a long wait, they brought me a container from the back... but then had no idea how to charge me for it. I ended up paying $4.29 a pound for a container of rice that would have cost 75 cents anywhere else. Absolutely the worst Chinese buffet I have ever been to! Very limited selection, and what they do have is horrible. I stopped in to get a box to go, and tried eating it when I got home. First I tried the "lo mein" which had a soured taste to it like the noodles were cooked days ago and left in water. Then I tried the teriyaki chicken, which tasted rancid, and literally threw up from the taste. We have gone to the Golden Dragon on and off through the years. After reading the reviews I may not go back. I found if you get to eat when they first put the food out you can enjoy it and it is fresh. Later in the day it drys out. I ignored torn seat. It is kind of dark in there so I guess I missed the dirt. It looks like it is family that run it possibly.
