I'm honestly writing this review about 4-5 months late but i had a conversation with my boyfriend that reminded me and it had me upset. It was probably October i had went in with my boyfriend to pick up a cake. We walked in and it was very busy for the pretty small area.. I overheard a middle aged woman asking a younger employee i'm assuming high school to go grab some cheesecake samples, she went back there to do so when she walked back out with them the woman embarrassingly yelled at her and said i told you to get the pumpkin cheesecakes when she 100% did not say that. I'm a pie person, not really into cake. But this is good cake: moist, light, pretty old school stuff with perfect slices and good icing. The strawberry has good strawberries mixed in and on top; the other flavors just have candy on top. Baby K enjoyed them more than me, but again, I'm not really a cake person. My husband ordered a Birthday Cake for my 60th Birthday, which was a huge milestone for me. He specifically asked for buttercream icing and purple flowers on the cake. Oh my, oh my, oh my! My future brother in law lives in Columbus and got a birthday cake for my fiancé while we were in town visiting. He raves about this cake and now that I've tried it, I know why he does! This cake is a yellow sponge cake with whipped cream icing and a fresh strawberry and whipped cream icing filling. It's decorated with a simple circle of strawberry and kiwi slices. But oh em gee... this cake is so light and airy, and delicious! However, for my wife's 76th birthday celebration I purchased a small strawberry cake (I had a variety to give everyone a choice) and was disappointed in that there were no strawberries in the interior filling between layers! All the cakes are great - they do great on special orders! Try a slice after freezing it overnight for a special summer treat. The steamed buns are fantastic - I get a mix of the BBQ pork and the vegetarian. I've used them for group events (hosting a visiting batch of dignitaries from China). I've frozen them and used them as lunch - they defrost and steam up great! I believe it's a rice flour bun. Drizzle a little soy on it and you are good to go! Lovely people as well. Yelp reviews highly recommended Golden Delight. I am thrilled to have found this gem! We tried a sampler of sliced cakes: strawberry, tiramisu, mocha and chocolate. All the cakes were light and airy with just the right amount of sweetness. The icing is whipped and perfect. All the cakes were delicious but the strawberry cake was heavenly and I will definitely be ordering that for a couple of upcoming birthdays. At the recommendation of Yelp and a coworker, I decided to get one of the famous fresh strawberry cakes for my husband's birthday this past weekend. When I called them about ordering a cake with about 10 servings/slices, they said they have several sizes in stock daily and no pre-order was necessary for that size cake - even better! I arrived around 3:30ish on a Saturday, and was able to have them write "Happy Birthday" on the cake (for free!), get it boxed up, and tossed in a singing candle in less than 10 minutes. $21 for a 9-inch cake I believe. The cake was phenomenal! It definitely tasted fresh baked, and the cake and frosting were both so light and airy, not overly sweet, with a layer of fresh strawberries in the middle as well. The owner was amazing and kind and even if the cake was mediocre I would go back just for her service and kindness. But don't be fooled the cake is magical it's a yellow cake layered between strawberry's and cream and more cream but I think the thing I love about the cake it's the no so super sweet flavor. It's more naturally sweet from the strawberry's which made it perfect. Its then topped with cream fresh strawberries and kiwi. My moms bday will never be the same we all talked about this cake for 30 mins after devouring it . I bookmarked this place awhile ago for my girlfriend's birthday because I'd heard the fresh strawberry cakes were amazing. Once I was over there I couldn't just get one thing, so on top of the 6" strawberry cake, I grabbed a slice of tiramisu and a custard bun. The lady behind the counter was really nice, and she offered to write a little note on the cake for me. She also tried to convince me to get a bigger cake and almost had me on the upsell, but I didn't need a cake hanging around in my fridge all week. The pricing is pretty solid with the 6" - 8" cakes ranging from about $13 - $17. I thought that was more than fair, and the pieces of cake by the slice were $2.75. This place does take credit cards, BUT they have a $15 minimum, so if you're just looking to grab a quick treat to go, make sure you have some cash. I ended up eating the tiramisu right away, and it was delicious and extremely light, so I really didn't feel that bad after eating a slice. The coffee flavor could have been a bit stronger for my liking, but it was still good. The strawberry cake is really everything it's chalked up to be. The strawberries taste super fresh, the cake itself is as light as anything, and the frosting is nice and creamy without the gross after taste you might get with some grocery store brands. I'd love to have more strawberries in the filling, but I thoroughly enjoyed the cake. I ended up eating the custard bun later in the week. It's prepackaged, so you can keep it for a bit in the fridge. Based on the lady's suggestion, I heated it up in the microwave for 15 seconds. This was good, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to grab one. Overall, if you love cakes, this is a place you need to try. It looks like they have a bunch on hand too, so if you're in a bind, then you should definitely give them a shot. Picked up my Valentine's Day cake yesterday. The counter person was kind enough to indulge me and put a big heart with our initials in it (a la a carving on the side of a tree) as the personalization. Based on the reviews I'd seen from others regarding their Pork Buns, I just had to try one. I asked her which she recommended, she suggested the plain Pork bun as a "starter". If you like potstickers, you'll like this bun. I want to try all of the flavors now! It was a bit more bready than I was expecting, but it was delicious. I think my tastebuds thought it should be a potsticker...and therefore a pasta like wrapper, so the bread was odd at first. By the last bite, I was sad I hadn't bought two.
