The employees were friendly and took my order right away. The dining room was not large but looked big enough. I ordered The Big and Golden Sandwich! I was expecting much more from it. It was an oversized Chicken Tender on an oversized Roll with a sweet and spicy sauce. Wouldn't order it again. We also had the chicken tenders with fries. They were ok but nothing special. Now! The Wicked Wings we ordered were Great! I give them a 5 Star! I'll be back for more wings. We ordered them plain without the hot sauce. Very good. read more

DO NOT ORDER, you risk poisoning yourself. I don't know what they did, but the health inspector needs to visit STAT. I ended up having the worst case of food poisoning in my life and found myself going to the emergency room. The most painful vomiting in my life. I can't imagine how many people ate there that day and were much worse off than I was. Just imagining a poor old lady stopping there that day... it makes me sick to my stomach. We had travelled to Waco from Charlotte,NC. There were 5 people on our party. We were in a hurry. We had never heard of Golden Chick before. We pulled in the drive thru and ordered 2 chicken sandwiches. We could not believe how we good they were. We wished we had ordered more! We went back later that day and again the next day. Out of fried okra, there was a 20 minute wait for fried chicken and out of cold bottled water. This was at about 2pm. Crazy! We had to get roasted chicken and it was okay. Not what we came for....okra and fried chicken tenders! Worst green beans ever. Straight out of a NO Sodium can. Tables were dirty and TV's were way too loud. We couldn't talk over them. One consolation was the guy at the register was friendly and apologetic. Not his fault about the food. They must stay in business due to travelers because it's on the frontage road of IH 35 between larger towns. I would wait to eat until Waco if traveling south from Dallas as we were. read more

Overall I like Golden Chick for golden chicken tenders over all other places like it. The reason I give this Golden Chick three stars is for inconsistency. I know they make their chicken in batches, but after a while, if the chicken sits under a heat lamp long enough, it becomes very dry. I have noticed that when my wife and I go here sometimes the chicken is delicious, other times, our order is incorrect and just doesn't taste very good. With all of that being said, I still recommend Golden Chick and will keep going to this location. read more

Portions have gotten bad. Packers are packing incorrect pieces of chicken or leaving them out altogether. While their fries are still their best feature, and I cannot critique fish as I do not eat it. I really liked their product on first opening. Now it's just getting sad. 25 years ago... Before Bush's ruined chicken, the original Golden Fried Chicken was Hewitt, TX only redeeming positive quality. I've been duped by the, "Half Price Chicken Mondays", for some moronic mistake of me thinking Tenders are made from chicken... I'm wrong every time. I'm quickly educated, by the manager, the window attendant didn't know the meat the tenders were made of... The manager, an early to mid-twenties, nice looking young woman, quickly made me feel as if I'd just asked her if she currently had possession of my baseball... Gave me something I didn't order... twice. So I ask.... What meat are the tenders? Chicken is a relatively inexpensive protein... Whatever Golden Chick, Bush's and Canes do to it does not multiply its value by 200%. Burned chicken, cold macaroni loaf and cheap, trash "crinkle cut" fries cannot account for such outrageous pricing. None of these "trash food restaurants" care about customer service or producing a quality product. I apologize for my harshness. But be better businesses... because you're all terrible. read more

I came her about 2 weeks after opening. I usually always order inside as I like the direct order and communication. The order process was flustered between 2 employees. The bread roll was useless after being smushed and sponged with grease. The food was okay, but the fried skin was soggy in texture. Too much OIL!! I bought a gallon of sweet tea and found out at a later time of entertaining guests, it was unsweetened. In my honest opinion a waste of franchise space and city dollars. read more

Went to golden chick tonite and got the 8 piece dinner with 2 side. I order half fried and half roasted. Got 4 fried and 4 cinders.

Until recently, and since it has been in this location, their food was terrible. Their tenders were tasteless, their gravy was watery and tasteless, and they never have chicken breasts. But recently, this location came under new management, and wow, is the food night and day different. To any who have had the legendary chicken express, the food under this new management is equal to the deliciousness that was chicken express, it was way better than bush's chicken too. I'm shocked by how much the new management has improved their food. read more

They came back with a bang!!! Very impressed with the food, wish prices were as good as Bush's but they will honor competitors coupons. Better fried chicken, French fries, and rolls for sure. I think tenders at both places are good, but I will continue to get tenders from Bush's every Tuesday because of there tender Tuesday special. The drive thru is a bit crazy and the parking lot was not designed very well. The drive thru gets so backed up that it interferes with parking. There is only one way in and out and during peak hours it can be difficult to exit if the drive thru is busy. The inside is a bit crowded as well and when there are a lot of people in line you have to cut across the crowd to get your drink. The prices are a little high considering the amount of food you actually get. They give you a very small portion of fries however give you 4 chicken strips that is almost just eating fried batter. The fries, rolls, mac & cheese however were tasty. Rolls were hands down my favorite thing on the menu. Also for fast food country gravy it was good as well. read more

The chicken strips here are fantastic, as are the battered fries and buttery yeast rolls. The zing sauce is also excellent. It's a little like Canes sauce, but with a zip. The employees are very nice and well trained for the most part, and the place is always clean. Canes used to be our favorite chicken place, but Golden Chick has stolen the title. We have ordered the same thing every time we've gone (around 15 visits) and they've only messed up the order twice, which is a pretty good ratio as far as fast food places go, and they are happy to fix mistakes quickly. About half the time, I receive 5 chicken strips in the 4-strip meal, which is a wonderful surprise. Christian Manager is a great employee and remembers our order. read more

On 3/8/18 We had attempted for a few hours to get in touch with this restaurant with the number listed online and they would not answer, Finally we decided to just go to the restaurant to get the order we wanted mind you we were having a party for our Boss's birthday and she loves Golden Chick which is why we decided to use this restaurant. Upon arrival the food was ordered and the order was messed up, so they had to fix it.. Assuming that they were taking care of us since they had already messed up the order We left with the bag of food they had handed us. We work across town, drove 15 mins to the restaurant and 15 mins back ( we work in downtown Waco) . We get back to the office and find that the only thing in that bag was Chicken and 2 bags of Rolls.. we had 20 rolls.. No sides.. We ordered the 15 piece with 3 sides and rolls with Tea. We went back to get the rest of the order, Our other employee Joyce called the corporate office which stated that the phones for that location were down which is why we could not get a hold of them, they also stated that we should request a refund and that they should provide us our original order. Upon Arrival at the restaurant when we spoke to the manager he smirked at us and had a snarky tone said that usually we would ask for the chicken back if we were to give a refund!!! ( WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU GONNA DO WITH CHICKEN THAT'S ALREADY OUT OF THE KITCHEN! SERVE IT AGAIN?!! THAT'S CROSS CONTAMINATION! anyone with a food handlers certification knows that!!) Dana from Golden Chick Corporate Office stated that the Manager for this location told her that he gave us the 3 sides and the tea! Which he did NOT! We attempted to give them a chance to fix the screw up and they still failed miserably the first time, then upon return they just refunded our money with a side of sarcasm but did not give us our sides to compensate for their own screw up! I only had a few minutes for my lunch break. Well going thru the drive thru at Golden Chick on Hewitt Drive in Waco was the wrong thing to do. I sat forever before I finally got up to speaker. Then I sat in line for the window for another 10 minutes. Then get to my destination and I have fish with gravy instead of the Cole slaw I ordered. Even if u had Cole slaw there was no utensil to eat it with. I won't go back to that location. Don't go there if you are in a hurry and be sure to check your order. read more
