First experience. The store appearance is a bit old and dated and could really use a refresher. The staff was not overly friendly or personable. The food had good flavor but nothing spectacular and definitely fast food taste and quality. A step above Taco Bell but very similar. Not as impressive as the reviews I read would suggest. We ordered the delicious taco.... Mine was a crispy flour tortilla filled with beef, sour cream, lettuce, and cheese. They are huge and delicious... our other taco was with a corn tortilla and that was also delicious.... Plan to return next time in town ... we went through the drive thru and the cashier was so nice and friendly, he noticed our dog in the car and gave him a cookie. read more

Seems a new updated review is in order. I had been gone for a while. When I got back though it was the same great food they have always had. This is good food at a great value. Sure it is fast food. I like it though. It is similar to food Taco Bell served in the 80's. Is it fine cuisine?? Ehh no but is their a place for it in my heart and wallet? I think definitely a resounding yes. The difference w the combo burrito and supreme burrito is the combo burrito concentrates on the beef bean and cheese. Supreme here equates to cheese sour cream olives cheese added to the item. This Taco Casa is always clean & busy at lunch time, especially Tuesdays! We try to go on "Taco Tuesday" at 11:30 or 1:30-2:00, because the seating is somewhat limited when a big crowd fills the dining area. My husband enjoys their taco salad & I love the regular crispy tacos. Each taco comes with delicious ground beef & lots of cheese. I pay extra for a small container of chopped tomatoes & add them as I eat my tacos. Yum! I tried the larger "deluxe" taco & the shell is nothing like the regular size shells .. not crispy at all! Why are they different? We find that ordering tacos "to go", tends to make them soggy or tough, so we prefer dining in the restaurant. We have ordered the chips & guacamole .. pretty good, but prefer to eat an extra taco! read more

A friend of mine told me he always tries to visit Taco Casa when he's in a locale that has one. I decided to take Cal at his word when driving through the Waco area during lunch time. All in all, I like it a lot. To me, it tastes a lot like the original, more basic Taco Bell. Tacos, burritos, and a few variations thereof. PLUS -- they have what they call a Chili Burger, which is a virtual recreation of the old Taco Bell Bellbeefer. (IE, a burger bun with taco meat, lettuce, optional cheese, and taco sauce) I loved that and the tacos. I was less of a fan of the meat burrito. It might've been their spicy sauce, but the meat tasted different from the tacos and wasn't my favorite. I also liked the speed and friendliness of the team working there. And the condiment area had plenty of taco sauce packets as well as lemon packets for the iced tea. Definitely one of the better options for a quick and satisfying way to solve a Mexican food craving. read more

So you're 200 miles into a 600 mile day on the road with a car so full that you need to create a vacuum in it to close the doors, and you're hungry. Yeah, there's food in the car, but who can get to it? So driving through Lampasas, we see the Taco Casa and think, "What the heck? Better than most the other fast food joints." It was WAY better than even that!!! We each got a Super Taco, and it was sooooo good that we each got a second! The lettuce was crisp, the tomato fresh, the taco cracklingly crunchy. The cheese was piled on, and the beef was perfectly seasoned. Best of all, they had dine-in service during COVID-19!!! (Because who wants to try to eat a taco in a full car, right?) Service was friendly, and the place was wiped down thoroughly every time a customer left a table. Except for a bathroom that had a small plumbing issue, the place was way better than most taco places we've eaten, and we'll likely catch a meal there on the return trip to south Texas. Would I take my prom partner here for dinner? Probably not. But for anything else, this place is well worth the stop. read more

This was good for my first time. I ordered the Chilada and it was alright. Big and meaty. Had tons of cheese. My very tiny problem with it was that it was a tad to salty. Especially with the cheese so I chose not to eat the cheese with it. It made it better. My fiancé ordered the super taco and super burrito. They were big! The prices for these items are decent. The store was clean and the service was good. Well worth the visit. Next time I will try something else. It might be good too. read more

As far as fast food goes, I prefer Taco Casa. The portion size is more than plentiful. My go-to is the Taco Salad bowl. Nothing beats a good super burrito or taco. It's popular with both my kids. They use lots of cheese and the lettuce and tomato have never been less than fresh. The tea is usually good although a weaker brew than when they first opened. Needs to be a stronger. Don't want to drink sugar water! Like any place where tea is made in big quantities, at the end of the day when tea at the bottom sours or container hasn't been cleaned well, it sours the fresh tea. That is the only thing that I've had issue with. Happily this is not a common occurrence with this place. As for food quality and price they leave Taco Bell and other commercial drive thru Mexican places here in the dust. read more

Remember the good old days when your Enchiritos and Beefy Tostadas had Black Olives on them... well reminisce no more. Taco Casa's Chilada and Beefy Tostadas have these wonderful gems on top for that perfect salty sweet addition. Christmas Eve, my parents went and bought 4 burritos, 8 beefy tostadas, 8 chiladas and 20 tacos. The family was coming over for the evening to exchange gifts and eat dinner. Granted, we didn't eat anywhere near all of that... and we have been eating the reheated leftovers for days. Yes! Leftovers and they were still delicious. Reminded me of Taco Villa, a chain from West Texas that used to be around here about 25 years ago. I found the food tasty and comforting as I miss Taco Villa from when they were here and my time in Lubbock. I plan on going back. They shred their own cheese which makes a huge difference than when it comes from a bag. Sat/Sun, Tacos are $.69 just like the good old days at Taco Bell and tea was only $.75. Fast food taco and burrito goodness. I have no idea why they have so few customers. It is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. Sodas are mixed on the heavy side which is always a plus. Limited menu choices, but what they make they make well. I generally get a super taco, mild bean burrito and a chili burger (basically taco meat, lettuce and maybe sauce on a bun) with cheese. As far as I can tell, all ingredients are made in-house (they are almost always making refried beans from scratch). Food items are LOADED with cheese and tomatoes. It may come in packets, but the taco sauce only makes everything three times better. When they first opened (and when I went to other Taco Casas between here and Dallas), the prices were ridiculously cheap; they seem to have steadily climbed over the years though. You can still get a lot of food for a good price though. They also have specials for large numbers of tacos or burritos. PLEASE build one of these out in Robinson... we will give you the customers that Hewitt won't. read more

After spending the day in Waco, my husband decided we should eat at Taco Casa. He's been before, my son and I haven't so I thought "oh boy another Taco Bell"... Boy was I wrong!!! The food is 100x better at Taco Casa. Not knowing how large the portions are, I ordered the super nachos and a super taco. I was unable to finish everything... The lite taco is perfect. Hard shell flour tortilla. You must try it. The enchalida is good and it comes with beef and refried beans in it. They don't have chips and salsa on the menu. The salsa is in ketchup sized little packets. I would like chips fried in house and fresh salsa. read more

Wow, I've driven by so many times and finally decided to try it. I thought it was just a hole in the wall, and am I glad I tried it! These were some of the best burritos and tacos I've had ever. Period. Every bite was a perfect bite. The key is the soft tortillas, never a part that was dry or tough. The taco meat was just so perfectly seasoned and cooked. I got Super Burrito, which was your Burrito Supreme equivalent from Taco Bell but way huge and delicious. Soft tacos were very good. They even have an Enchirito equivalent. Sorry for Taco Bell comparisons. This is definitely at another level and way better. They even have this Chili Burger which is taco meat in a hamburger bun with chili. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other things on the menu. I looked this place up and didn't realize this was a huge 40 year old Texas chain! Congratulations Taco Casa! For fast food, it's not bad. I ordered tacos and the shells were very crispy. On a different visit, I ordered the taco salad and the flour tortilla bowl tasted off. It wasted like cleaning solution.
