The food was exceptional! The best Tex-Mex I've had, service was just right, server came at the right time, ambience was busy, this place holds alot of customers. The wait time was 15 minutes on a busy full restaurant. read more

It's a 50/50 split. I ordered home delivery which I got in short order and piping hot. Courteous delivery carrier. GREAT was the 2 cheese relleno meal. The portions were good. The high point was the crisp yummy crust on the relleno. The mexican rice was flavorful and fluffy. The beans are typical. The downfall was the enchilada meal. Two cheese & looked what was 2 slices of cheese melted flat into the tortilla which was so empty it separated. The sauce had completely saturated the tortilla and it came with complimentary scorch burns. The green rice had ZERO flavor. No spice, no salt...texture was fine but devoid of taste. So it bombed on one order and the other was Da Bomb. I will perhaps order the rellenos again because they were fantastic. The taco on the enchilada combo was the same as the rice, no good taste to it. So a big yes to the 1st and a big time zero on the other -- like 5 thumbs down. I had to throw that money in the trash. read more

Two co-workers and I came in for a late lunch / early dinner around 4 pm on a Tuesday. As you might expect, it was a pretty dead hour to be eating, but there were a few other folks in the dining room. The server brought out some chips, salsa, and jalapeño ranch dip while we considered our options. I ended up getting the Baja shrimp tacos and a diet coke. I think you could call this my "regular order" at Chuys, and it was good, as usual. I think the server mixed up my coworkers and my drinks when he took them for a refill. We'll never know for sure...and we'll live either way. Other than that, we had good service and we were in and out of the restaurant in about an hour. read more

Always love to start with the service, Brittney was our server and she was right on top of things despite having several other tables that popped in right after us. I love it when a host has good recommendations and has actually eaten the food. Brittney came through for us and we all had good dinners after a long travel day. The beer didn't hurt either. My only complaint is that they have no beer on tap, every restaurant that serves beer should have at least a small selection on tap but I made due with the bottles. I know it's a rough life right? The food was solid. Steak burritos were a hit and the green chile rice was a good addition. Slightly too much salt for my tastes but all in all very good and I would eat here again. General ambiance was some where between 50's diner and Texas road house but all family friendly. read more

Just wanted to write this review to talk about the excellent service we received! Her name was Natia and she was the best! We were the only table on the patio and she still gave exceptional service!! read more

The food is marginal. The green sauce is good. The service is just ok and the outside patio is great on a nice day! EXCEPT that the entire patio minus our table, was left gross and dirty with old food all over the place! While multiple servers went by over & over again as we ate our dinner & no one cleaned up or picked up anything! I don't think I'll be back! read more

Food was meh, customer service was really bad. Waiter didn't right orders down correctly, or come back and check on us, brought out orders separately. Salsa and chips were Save yourself the aggravation, go to Taco Bell! read more

My friends and I decided to eat here tonight before we headed out to a college football game. Even though it was busy, the service was excellent and we were well taken care of. I had the taco salad and was very impressed with the greens they used because it wasn't just cheap stuff that you would normally get at other restaurants. One of my friends got the chicken quesadillas and really enjoyed them as well. Also, all of us love the salsa that comes with the chips. Overall, this was a great experience and I look forward to coming back again sometime. read more

Waco place to eat. Great atmosphere, great service. Very busy the night we went. Looked like a prom night with girls in heals even though rainy. Our stop over hotel Tru, was close by and this was recommended. Great choice for us. Love the Jalapeno sauce or I call gravy. We rarely eat at the one in Norman ok, not sure why. This will stay on our fav list for Waco. read more

Chuy's - Prom night - Tex-Mex Near Me - Waco, Texas

We came here on a Thursday night of Baylor graduation weekend. It was packed. Luckily there was plenty of parking. We only had 3 people so we did not have to wait even though there were larger groups waiting. Restaurant was clean with some cool decor. The service was good. Our waitress kept checking on us even though it was extremely busy. The food was good and in my opinion inexpensive. Starter chips and sauces upon request. I had the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo. It had a little bit of everything. I was unable to completely finish my plate, which is a rare occurrence. It might have been because of all the delicious chips I ate before it came out. I took the rest with me and heated the next day. Definitely a good experience. read more

Relaxed environment as any chain Mexican restaurant. Service is quick and this place is always popping. Expect a wait on busy days. Price is incredibly affordable and includes all the Tex Mex staples. Good drink menu. Good service. Can get loud. The creamy jalapeño ranch is better than their salsa. Ask for tortillas when you order drinks. Hot and delicious. Made in house! read more

This was an exceptional visit. I came here with some of my friends, we all were wanting some good Mexican food. I can't say we got good Mexican food, but we did have some of the greatest service we have ever received from our server John. John made the three star review into a four star. I would highly recommended asking to sit in his section if you want to be treated well. The whole vibe of the restaurant is nice but sooo much better with John as your server. read more

Great TexMex style food in an excellent presentation! Plenty of parking, convenient location. Casual, fun atmosphere. Service at this busy location was outstanding during lunch. Bottomless baskets of fresh, hot chips, salsa and a great ranchero sauce. Reasonably priced. We will definitely return when in the area. Baja shrimp tacos were fantastic! In the mood for TexMex you won't want to miss it. read more

Our Tex-Mex go to in Waco! Great food with a busy college/family atmosphere. We loved the portion sizes and relaxed ambiance. We had the chimichanga and the enchiladas as both were equally delicious. We ate supper here 5/6/25. Charles. Our waiter was excellent, and maybe one of the best we've had anywhere in the world. They should be an example to all ! read more

We all got burritos and not only were they big portions, plus rice and beans, they were all delicious. Fast service as well!

Disappointing visit to this location. We took advantage of their website where you can put yourself on the waitlist ahead of time. Problem is no one bothered notifying us that tables were available ‍. After watching the front door and realizing we were the only ones still waiting we decided to check with the hostess. Guess what...table was ready?! After being sat we ordered drinks and apps. One of our apps, guacamole never showed up. We ordered entrees and when they showed up the server let us know they were out of rice. Ummmmmm...you're a Mexican restaurant and you ran out of rice? Also ran out of Hatch Chile sauce too apparently for my son's burrito. Really frustrating because I know Chug's is better than this but this location failed tonight. Thanks for the free drinks though, server forgot to charge us for those I guess? read more

If you're looking for a place to go with a few friends, some solid Tex-mex food, a clean and updated restaurant, and a convenient location, this Chuy's is the place to go! But if you're looking for spectacular service on top of it all, ask to sit in John's section. Talk about a fantastic waiter! Going in, I was expecting a three star experience. Good food, but not remarkable; satisfactory service, but not professional. But boy was I pleased to be incorrect! John had chips and salsa at our table before we had even sat down, eager to make our meal as enjoyable as possible! I've been to establishments where you have to practically drag the waitstaff to your table in order to simply get a refill on your beverage, but not on John's watch! He was attentive to our experience and quick to give suggestions off the menu. Truly he did a fantastic job, and an impressive young man! John sir, I don't know who you are, or if you'll ever see this, but your work did not go unnoticed. You turned a 3-star experience into a 4-star. I will definitely be back! read more

Overall a good experience, couldn't have been any better service!! Ask for John's section when seated! Little did I know that Mexican food was gonna be my lunch for the day. But after reviewing the options and searching for possibilities, we decided to give Chuy's at 5501 Legend Lake Pkwy a go. One of the best restaurant decisions I've made, quite possibly could be the greatest restaurant service I have ever experienced. Upon arrival at a busy lunch hour I was seated very fast. Once seated, my chips and salsa arrived at the table in record speed. Faster than one could time. From the get go, it was apparent that my waiter was going to be the star of the show. John made it clear that he was the best waiter in Waco and it was obvious, the joyous and bright character mixed with his energy was second to none. Talking about the food part of my experience, it was a typical, 3-star, what you expect tex-mex meal. But this experience was elevated by a whole star just cause of the amazing and wonderful experience provided by John. This was a record setting day for the restaurant and waiter industry with multiple refill times being broken. 28.45, 22.99, and 21.57 seconds were his cup refill records respectively. Each one breaking the record previously set. That averages out to a 24.31 second wait time for a refill. Remarkable work done at Chuy's today. Too many good things to say about John. I recommend you going and getting a feel for this beautiful work of service. read more

Handled our large takeout order perfectly! Food was delicious.... Especially the jalapeno sauce!

Oh Chuy's, you never let me down! This is the go-to spot for margs after a long week. Their happy hour is from 4-7 and margaritas are discounted to $5.25 for a regular and $8.25 for a grande, so that's where you'll find me on any given weekday. You can find their menu on their website to see the prices for other beverages; they have anything you could dream of. Check their Facebook (Chuy's Waco) for seasonal beverages, too! Service is always great here. The vibe of the restaurant is awesome; really cool interior with a lot of decor and a beautiful patio that looks even prettier at night. I have loved everything I've tried here. You get unlimited chips and they are perfectly crispy and salty. The Stacked Enchiladas are great for a more mild person, the Boom Boom Enchiladas are amaaazing but were a little spicy for me. That doesn't stop me from getting them, though! The chicken quesadillas are some of my favorite quesadillas I've ever had. I tried the Chuychanga this time around and, as expected, it was great! My friend ordered the Mexi-Cobb Salad and it looked amazing. The chicken they use in all of these items is phenomenal quality and always a good cut. The beans and rice are always fresh and HOT, along with the rest of the food. You can't go wrong at Chuy's! read more

I'm usually don't say this, but make sure you save room for dessert! The Tres Leches is spectacularly delicious... and it's huge so you can share. Food portions are also huge so you will need to pace yourself... Chips are light and crispy... Salsa is more like fresh pico so you might want to get the queso too. We ordered The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo... so much food! (It comes with a chicken, ground beef & cheese enchilada each with a unique sauce... crispy hard shell ground beef taco and a tostada). We also ordered the Steak Burrito covered in Hatch Green Chilies and lastly kids chicken tenders. Yummy, yummy!!! No regrets! Service was friendly and the atmosphere is casual and fun... be sure to check out the Elvis mini memorial in the foyer honoring The King who lived nearby in Kileen, TX back when he was in basic training. read more

Chuy's Seen Chuy's restaurant in many different areas and a few different states and to be honest really never had much of an interest to eat there but loved the restaurant. Was busy as can be, had to fight for a parking spot as we came after a homecoming at Baylor. Ordered the Chuychanga with beef, guacamole and queso. It is a chimichanga deep fried with a little sour cream on top. Oven roasted chunks of beef which is delicious. The guacamole was a little sparse and the queso was delicious and ended up eating with the chips. Also had the fajitas and the beef tacos which both were very good. Would recommend the grilled beef which I loved the taste and tenderness. read more

First time visit and loved everything about it. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with very colorful, quirky decor. We were seated immediately, even though we arrived during the busy dinner rush. Our server went above and beyond, she was so friendly and answered all of our questions and she frequently checked on us, refilled our drinks and kept bringing out chips. Just amazing service. We ate way too much of the chips and salsa, the chips were irresistible, thin and crispy. Food arrived very quickly and was delicious. We had the steak burrito and the enchiladas and the food was delicious and portions were huge. My husband still raves about the perfectly cooked meat. I really enjoyed the variety of sauces to pick from, including two types of mild sauces. Both ranchero and tomatillo sauces had a rich taste. The sides also tasted freshly made, especially the refried beans. Highly recommend. Would definitely eat here again if in the area. read more

I love Chuy's but this location was a horrible experience. The hostess was very rude to our party and argued with us over her mistake. All of the staff we interacted with were rude and showed zero respect for their customers. read more

I lived in TX for over 10 years and Chuy's was a staple for us. We've moved to the Midwest and visited Chuy's when on a recent trip to TX. The jalapeño sauce is amazing and the atmosphere is fun. Had never dropped in to the Chuy's alongside Southbound IH-35 in Waco. We were in attendance at a funeral and wanted to visit with a cousin after the service -we also hadn't had anything to eat all day. I had had coffee but the Mr. had had nothing. Anyhow , the four of us went. Of course, I ordered a Mexican Martini because in Austin they are delicious. It was incredibly good. Just the right amount of mix and alcohol and nice and cold and refreshing. One of the best I've had in a very long time. Our guests ordered the pochos which was a loaded nacho with fajita meat and lots of scoops of guacamole. They advised it was the best nachos they've ever had! Since they are from Florida, I was really glad that we could expose them to this Texas home-based restaurant. The Mr. and I both wanted something simple so we could chat, and ordered crispy tacos. The ground beef was seasoned perfectly, not spicy at all, which was a good thing because the Mr. does not tolerate any spice. A nice amount of freshly shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and diced tomatoes we're loaded in the crispy recently made shells. It's amazing how those homemade shells make all the difference in the world!! It was a really simple meal but it was very good. Our wait staff was overloaded and service was OK, not exceptional. She was very nice, very polite but I just think she had way too many customers to wait on. It It didn't look like there was anyone else in our whole area in terms of waitstaff. So we suffered a little bit, no drinks were refilled, had to ask for napkins, had to ask for a to go container -she just wasn't able to keep an eye on us. I will say she did refill our chips which was very nice, even though we had pretty much stopped noshing at that point because we were all afraid if we ate many more chips we wouldn't be able to eat dinner!! It was right at $50 without the tip for dinner for four with three beverages and one cocktail. Not bad at all and it was plenty of food. If we are in Waco at meal time is certainly something we would consider again! read more

Love love love chuys!!! Went last night our server was great food was delicious! They were really great and got us in quickly

Pros: plenty of seating, wait staff was friendly, responsive, and relatively quick. Prices decent. Cons: Nothing about the cuisine said Mexican restaurant except the names of the dishes. The food was alright just lacked the taste of authentic dishes. That being said it is a "Tex-Mex" place so keep that in mind. I wasn't a fan of the ranch dip that was served with the chips and almost left before eating because of it. I guess it's the places signature so maybe I should have done more research. read more
