As far as chains go - WOW. We had great service, I LOVED the eclectic atmosphere, and DAMN good margaritas. That "perfect" margarita was super strong and SUPER good. For the price it was a SUPER value As a vegan, I ordered the veggie enchiladas. Now let me preface by saying I'm not a HUGE fan of enchiladas. I wouldn't ever order them but it was basically my only choice so I rolled with it. Well hot damn. They were freaking amazing. So much flavor. The enchilada sauce was awesome. The blue corn tortillas perfect. And the seasoning on the veggies was perfect. I also LOVED every. Single. Veggie. In that enchilada. They were cooked perfectly. I hate how sometimes you just get soggy veggies. But these were awesome. I absolutely loved it. I would have gone to a DFW location before I left if I had another day left. When the parking lot is full, it only means two things. 1. There are no other restaurants in the area, or 2. The food is good. We waited about 10 min for a table, and Chris with the cutest of smiles, explained few things and helped us choose our food. Service was excellent, the food was very good. I can finally give Chuy's a high rating! The previous experience was nasty due to poor service, & unflavorful food, & I was hesitant to even eat here again. Service was excellent & prompt, and our waiter was very nice, unlike the other two servers I had before-one literally jigged & pranced around the dining room, & the other an obnoxious woman who laughingly sat down at our table and asked us what we wanted to order. I ordered the chuychanga with the boom boom sauce, and the loaded queso and chips for our appetizer. Everything was extremely flavorful, hot and pleasant to the eye as well. First time I've ever been here. My wife and I stopped on our way out of town for the weekend. It was different from most Mexican restaurants. I love the decorations and Memorabilia. The staff was super nice. The salsa was not typical Mexican restaurant salsa and more like pico de gallo. But was really good. The food was enough for more than one person. I literally could not believe my eyes when our plates were dropped at the table. So much food. The food was not the greatest due to the fact it seem like it did not have any seasoning or spices and was kind of blah. But nothing that Salt and pepper can't cover up. We had enough food for both of us to eat Again the next day for lunch. I would definitely recommend for the amount of food and the prices and atmosphere. College good at best, my son loves this place and comes with all his college friends. But sadly for my wife and I not what we expected. My sons tacos were exactly what he wanted and expected. My wife had the Chuychanga but was surprised how little the filling was and lacked in flavor. I had the custom enchiladas and they were definitely different from what I am used to. The homemade corn tortillas they come in where super thick (reminded me of flatbread). Which was not appealing. The red sauce lacked in flavor. I had to ask for some cheese in the side to make it worth the calories. But we had a good server, the chips and salsa were good and she made sure I was never out of lemonade and my wife was never out of tea. The only downside to this location is that the bathrooms are always a mess! During my recent visit, I walked into the ladies' room and the each of the toilets was surrounded by a huge puddle of water, with toilet paper laying in the midst of it. This was a little disgusting. We waited about 40 minutes for a table on a Friday around 6. We tried to call ahead for a reservation (per the website) but they don't take call ahead/reservations. However, we were able to grab a drink at the bar and take it outside while we waited. Our party of 7 was seated relatively quickly on such a busy Saturday afternoon. We found out when we got there that it was National Margarita Day, so of course we wanted to celebrate. Our party got either the house frozen margarita or a margarita with a strawberry swirl in it. They packed a punch and were just what the doctor ordered after a long day of exploring Waco. We started with the queso and added the beef, gauc and pico to it, because, "When in Rome" and all. I was pleased with my order of soft tacos, as was the rest of the party. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION! BEWARE! Ordered enchiladas. Was given a Family Fajita dinner in error. I didn't realize it as the Chuy's employee just put the sack it in my back seat. On my way home, I got a call from Chuy's asking for me to return as they gave me the wrong order. I drove back there (15 minutes out of the way) and returned it. I then saw them them take it from my car and put it in another patron's car. It is a health violation to have food leave your restaurant and then returned to then give it to someone else. Also, Chuy's did not give me anything for my inconvenience, not even an apology for their error causing me to have to come back. I am calling Health Department on Monday to report this health violation and will no longer be a customer there. read more

Tea glass was never empty, dishes were pre-bussed and food was exactly as ordered. Food was also GREAT. We walked over from our hotel for dinner after a long day's drive. The wait was shorter than predicted which was a positive. That was the high point of the service. The hostess seated us with only menus...so I had to ask for the drink list. After the appetizers arrived I had to ask for napkins (we never got small plates). When the entree arrived I had to ask for silverware (from the food runner). The only thing I didn't have to ask for was the check! I would've enjoyed a second drink, but was tired of asking for things that should be part of minimal table service. Other nearby tables were getting good service - I think our guy clocked in at 4:20. Food was meh. Got the Cobb salad. Portion was huge. Chicken was dry so I only managed to eat half. Maybe that second cocktail would've helped wash it down. My daughter got an enchilada dish that she only managed half. When dining at a chain, we go for consistency of experience. This location fell way short.
