Whenever I am in La Grange and we need a quick drive-thru meal, I like going to Golden Chick for their chicken salad sandwiches. They are so good! The line here gets pretty long around lunchtime so it's better to avoid going at that time. I think their prices are a little high but I guess everything is today. i'm not sure I would spend that much just for their chicken but my go to will always be their chicken salad sandwich! Old food cooked early in the day so you get chicken that has been sitting for hours because they don't want to cook all day long so they have a big pile of chicken and that's what you get, cold or room temp chicken.' If you tell them you want fresh chicken, they throw the old chicken in the oil to get a little hot but then it's over cooked. Every single time we've been here eating inside and also drive through, many employees are bringing out big bags of chicken to their friends sitting in back of the building parked or putting big bags of food into their own cars then going back inside. While we are there we will see 2-3 employees doing this, coming out of the back door. They give free drinks to their friends inside. Sometimes they will come in just for a free drink and no food. They never go to the register to pay, the employees just gives them cups. Last week one male employee was standing behind the counter eating chicken while trash talking customers who were returning hard cold okra. Then they replaced the okra with what I believe was refried okra because it was hard as a rock and inedible. People are being paid to be here all day but they don't want to work. They hide in the back of the restaurant or out the back door during the day. Again, nobody is cooking fresh chicken throughout the day. It's all cooked early in the day! I've also noticed that any new English speaking employee only lasts here a few days before they quit. I think they see the shenanigans going on here and want no part of it! It's hard to find a chicken place that has anything but fried chicken. Golden Chick has delicious, tender, roasted chicken, which is what we always get. Our favorite sides are dirty rice, green beans and mashed potatoes. The yeast rolls are awesome. When we travel we look for Golden Chick Restaurants for lunch. More and more are popping up. We drove up to the drive through here and saw a "picture" of their chicken sandwich. It looks very much like a Popeyes sandwich in the picture. Nice fat breaded piece of chicken. NOT WHAT YOU GET. The reality is a small, almost not breaded, maybe half-inch piece of chicken that tastes slightly like catfish. I like catfish, but not if I ordered chicken. I rarely return things at a fast food place, it's not like they're k own for quality, but this was so bad I had to. We took it back and explained the issue, the picture looked JUST like a Popeyes sandwich and this sad excuse for a sandwich was what we got instead. And yes, I realize the picture and reality aren't always the same, but this was ridiculous. The immediate response from the woman at the window was "there's cheese on the sandwich in the picture.".......??????? Like cheese transforms this piece of crap into a picture worthy sandwich??? They got two stars because their Mac n chs was pretty good. I might've given them three if they had been decent when we took it back and not immediately defensive and made excuses for what was obviously a misrepresentation. Consistently good food at this location. We eat here whenever we are in town and always get it to go. The chicken never disappoints, both the fried and the roasted are flavorful and just plain delicious. I love those yeast rolls and could eat a dozen by myself. Their mashed potatoes and gravy always hit the spot and they are consistent. We also like their green beans. Great place for chicken when you're in La Grange. read more

Excellent food and service. Have been several times this year, and they have been on point every time. Even taking care of a huge order that came in right before me, they still got my food and that order done very quickly without missing a beat. Ok, I try not to rate fast food places any higher than a 3 star rating, but this place has never failed me. The chicken is always crazy moist and delicious. I can seriously tear up some tenders. I always ALWAYS order corn nuggets and a sweet tea. The service is always very reliable and quick to cater to their customers. I won't go too far into detail about the amenities because it's just another fast food place, but I give it four stars because it's the best damn chicken place I personally have ever been to. read more
