There were 4 of us. 3 with pretty much the same order because they were out of several things including buns for sandwiches and Dr Pepper!!! We ordered and pulled up to the window. The young lady that took our order was pretty clueless. She didn't get any of the sides correct and kept trying to give one of us lemonade instead of tea. We paid and drove slowly away checking our order. We were short on okra, long on Mac and cheese and no dipping sauce that was requested. Went back in to fix it and the manager was hard core. No apologies for the mistakes. Hard lined us into $5 for the okra and dipping sauce. If you feel the desire for chicken on 287, hold on till you get to Amarillo. Drive on by this place. So we pulled up to the drive through waiting for about 10 minutes no one in line then decided to pull up to the window four people inside laughing and joking around with no customers inside one looked and noticed we were at the window and came over with an attitude saying can I help you? So my wife responded with yeah we didn't know if anyone was working today so we decided to pull up to the window. After that fun encounter someone else moved him out of the way and said what can I get for you. All I can say is wow!!!! We left Colorado around 7am headed back to Texas. My 5 year old daughter kept telling me she wanted fried fish. I'm glad we stopped at this location. They didn't disappoint. We I tell you the fish was hot, crispy, flavorful and fresh... The rolls were buttery, light and fluffy. The okra was fried to perfection and the Mac and cheese was good too her.. When I tell y'all that sweet tea with lemon was bussing!!!! OMG I wanted to slap someone to tell them that's how freshly brewed tea is supposed to taste!!!!! My Cousin said the tenders we good and juicy and not dry. The mashed potatoes were great and the corn was hot and sweet. We have no complaints. Everything was fresh and great. Passing through town and wanted chicken and something local would be a plus. I found Golden Chick while my wife and daughter were getting Subway across the street. Everyone gets what they want . I had jalapeño poppers (which seemed to be made there) and a chicken tender combo with gravy and okra. Nothing particularly special about the batter, but it was hot and fresh. I added their "Lotta Zing" seasoning to my gravy and dusted my tenders and okra with it as well. The roll was lagniappe. I went through the drive thru and the person was courteous and repeated my order for accuracy. This was a nice change from all of the chain restaurants along I-40. read more

Let's start with the quality of the food. The chicken is flavorless. Very unseasoned and boring. The fries are gross. They serve country gravy, not brown gravy with their chicken and didn't offer any other sauces. Rolls are eh. Haven't tried the mash potatoes when I realized there's only country gravy with it & the gravy is gross. Onto the customer service. Everyone is rude and in their own world. The cashier made it feel like it was an inconvenience to help us. The kid who packed our food was sweet, but should know better to not touch his mask while in the food industry. Especially do not move the mask down to talk during a pandemic. I'm not impressed at all with our trip to this store. Probably would've been better to get Taco Bell. read more

Words can not express how gross this place is. One of the workers behind the counter was literally eating while ringing a customer up. Her and her boyfriend were also playing grab ass behind the counter. The restaurant was dirty and it certainly didn't look like it had been busy enough to leave that kind of mess by noon. This is the worst Golden Chick I've ever eaten at! And given that it's fast food and my expectations weren't that high that's saying something. My husband and I got to town about 6 p.m. and were looking for a quick bite. The chicken tasted like it'd been sitting under the heat lamp since noon. Tough and nearly inedible. My husband didn't get a roll and when he complained and mentioned the awful chicken, the girl behind the counter just stared at him. First off, the manager took our order and while taking our order yelled at her employee in front of us. Secondly, the chicken tenders were undercooked (COMPLETELY PINK). My chicken was so tough and nearly black I didn't even want to touch it. Lastly, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We will never be back here again. Young man taking customer's orders never welcomed us or ask how he could help us, just stared at us until we gave our order choice. He took my credit card, went over to the drive through register to ring up the charges, brought the card back and handed it to me without a word. No "thank you", no "we will have that right out", or anything else. I went back to the counter later to ask for some "Zing sauce", and was told "that's 25 cents extra". The food was good. The dining area was in bad need of cleaning. The service was terrible. For crying out loud, at least put someone on the front counter who can provide a level of customer service that would make a customer return again.
