BAD REVIEW for "Q Ba Nails" on Shore Road…read more I hate bad reviews. More-so, I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was so outrageous, I have no choice. I treated my 87 year old mother to a mani-pedi. We've been going to 'Q Ba Nails' on Shore Road for years, ever since it was Gallery Nails. Today, we got there at 1pm, I told them that "I want the nails short short." Then I asked when I can pick her up. They said 40 minutes. I came back asked, "How much?" They said "$30." I looked at Mom's nails, turned to the manicurist and said that "I wanted them very short." She argued what I meant. I gave in out of disgust & disapproval. I took out my credit card to pay. Then they said "Cash only." When I asked, "Why?" She said, "It's easier." I said, "It's never only cash. You have a credit card machine and show pictures that you take credit cards. I don't have the cash." She then said, "Doesn't matter, we are doing cash only." About another 3 minutes of arguing, I said that "I don't have the cash, that I'd have to go to the bank, to get the cash." They told me, "The dry cleaner has an ATM machine to give me cash." - [That makes me uneasy, when a merchant becomes a 'cash only' then directs you to a out-of-bank cash machine.] - So, then I stated that I'm going to my bank, (Chase on Main Street), they kept trying to directing me to the ATM. Then, I started to put Mom into the car, then they INSISTED that Mom is to stay there until I return. Is it that they were holding her hostage until I returned??? (Well, that's what it felt like to me.) I left and returned some 30 minutes later. You'd think that's where this dreadful story ends, but NO! With the $30, plus a $10 tip in hand, I got back. I mean, it's not the manicurist's fault that the owner only takes cash. BUT... When I started to pay, I asked for a receipt. The manicurist, (not the owner), took a small piece of paper from a blank pad, wrote a 'Korean symbol' and the "$30" and tried to give it to me. Quizzically, I said, "This is not a receipt. I want a real receipt." They said that "This is what we use." I said, "No. I want a receipt with the business name, address, telephone...." They interrupted me saying, "No. No. This is what we have." At that moment, another customer said, "Well, what can you do?" I said, "Well, for one, I'm never coming back here again. And second, I can advertise the bad review I'm about to give them." Needless to say, there was no tip. As I'm writing this, I'm recalling the whole situation. (1) Lousy workmanship, (2) arguing with me that I wanted a better job done, (3) not telling me that it's a Cash Only transaction, (4) holding my mother "hostage" until I return back, & (5) not giving a real receipt. My bf was left halfway through his pedicure because the manicurist decided to take another client who walked in. We assumed it was an appointment and figured she would probably get her prepped and go back to him. My pedicure was done and I was already on my way to be seated for my manicure. While he sat for about 15 minutes. I alerted the manicurist working on me that he never got his clear coat and was also getting a simple manicure. She said something to the woman who was working on him originally and there was a little back and forth between the manicurist before the manicurist who was tending to me started working on his hands. She even finished his pedicure too. She did a great job handling the situation and apologizing for something that wasn't her fault. I would've loved to recommend this spot to my girlfriends here but I'm afraid they won't accept the service and be as patient as my bf.
