Afterwards when my nails were drying, she gave me an extra long back rub without extra price and it was amazing! Best back rub ever and I will definitely make an appointment with her for a private session in the future! Last week I went and Ginny was off. I had Lisa and she was so patient, helping me pick out the color I needed to match the dress I was wearing to a party the following day. It wasn't a color I would ever pick myself and it matched my dress perfectly!! My friend and I arrived very early and they took us right away even though it was busy already. When my nails were dry I paid and left Lisa a tip and while putting my money back I smudged 2 nails so she fixed them. Upon drying my nails for another ten mins I asked her if they were dried and she touched one and that one got smudged. Lisa very patiently fixed that finger waiting in between the clear polish and the actual nail polish. When the nails were dried after the second time, I tried to give her an additional tip and she wouldn't take the money. Everyone complimented my nails at the party and it is now my favorite shade. Thank you so much, Lisa! I usually have trouble sitting still when my nails are drying, but the atmosphere is so calming and I felt so relaxed watching the fish swim in their big tank.

For the most part. During my most recent appointment, I was going for a more nautical look, and I wanted a small gold starfish on the nail. Hand-drawn is what I had in mind, but I was told they could only stick these tiny stars on the nail. Cute, but not the look I was going for. Anyway, I still got a somewhat nautical look, and they were great in helping me find a glittery gold for my ring finger nails (a bit darker than in the picture from which I got my idea - and I showed them this picture - but it worked well enough for me). So the prices that I'm aware of: At the time of this writing, ~$12 for a regular manicure; $23 for a pedicure; $30 for a gel manicure; $5/nail for designs. I believe you can pick up to 2 colors without an additional charge (no design), but would be charged if it's 3+ colors. Please double check on that because I'm not entirely sure. I also wanted to comment on the massage they give that it seems most nail salons provide after your nails have been worked on. They give pretty good massages - they actually work on your soft tissue, not "massage" bony areas, something I've experienced at another salon (and that was a bit painful!). The salon seems to be pretty accommodating, whether you make appointments by phone or walk in (for the latter, they'll see you so long as there is availability, meaning empty seats and enough nail techs). Lastly, there appear to be regulars that the nail techs are familiar with. BUT, contrary to another particular salon (will not name drop, but *hint* it may or may not be the only other salon I've reviewed by this point), they don't show seem to show favoritism or blow off other customers in favor of serving these regulars.

Upon calling ahead (appointments necessary now), Lily, the owner of D Shiny, actually stated they are open until 7:30. This was great news, as I work during the weekdays, and she gave me the last appointment of the day at 6:10pm. This was my first time here, and I was incredibly impressed at how clean and tidy establishment was. The bottles of polish were organized, as well as the gels and spools of foil and adornments for special customization. First up during my visit was eyebrow waxing ($10). Lily whisked me away to the back room, promptly waxing and grooming my overgrown arches! She was very gentle during the process, and I never felt any stinging. During my pedicure, a tub liner was used, as well as a one-time-use disposable sticker on the foot buffer. It had been 4 months since my last mani-pedi, so today I opted for the special Green Tea Spa pedicure ($38). (FYI, Basic pedicure is now $23, but the spa menu prices have not changed). It was a nice small upgrade that elevated the basic pedicure experience. My technician, Amy, understood limited English, but I was able to communicate with her to apply more pressure during the foot massage (which really got out some knots!) Careful attention was paid to smoothing my feet and toes so that looked back to a presentable state! Amy also diligently worked on my hands, which embarrassingly had gotten overgrown cuticles. (Basic manicure here is now $12.) She indeed took extra time to remove them all (hey, 4 months of quarantine and DIY at home catches up eventually), even muttering it in Mandarin at one point (yeah, I understood that, Amy). At one point, She went a little rough with the cuticle removal and it felt like she dug a bit too deep into the nail bed, as there was a harsh sting when acetone was applied during clean-up (ouch!). I took it as blunt honesty vs rudeness, since I figured maybe my hands were out of practice of feeling what cuticle removal was like. Again, similar to the feet and toes, Amy brought my fingers back to a presentable state! At this visit, I only had time for a basic manicure, but I was very impressed by the owner, Lily, working some of the adornments on her own nails. Gems, lace, stickers, a chain, foils-- oh my! Her attention to detail was amazing, and her prices for extras were reasonable. She also is willing to work with budgets if you only want a few contrast nails to keep it affordable, but still want a little luxury. TL;DR - Super friendly customer service and CLEAN! Great attention to detail. All staff wore masks, and I saw them wipe down areas when we were done using them. For the extended hours alone, I would return.
